| Answer: | I don't use this function but I looked through the manual and find no mention of automatic record.The VP-10 is a good recorder, which I use to dictate to Dragon. For that it does well, but you need to be aware that it has no manual pause button during recording, so when you start and stop a dictation, you create a new file. To me, the convenience of the small recorder has so far outweighed the inconvenience of having a whole bunch of files, because I can drag them one by one onto the Dragon transcription window and merge the transcription manually. But if you can't live with that, don't buy this machine. |

WMA @ 5kbps mono will take 1,620 hours of files to fill 4GB of memory, but there's only 50 hours of battery power per battery at that bitrate, so you'd have to change batteries 32 times.Bottom-lining it, at CD quality on one new alkaline AAA battery you can get 12 hours of recording, and at the lowest quality there'd be enough battery power to get approximately 24 hours of continuous recording. |
