Answer:	You don't have to cut out just don't put the backing on

Answer:	The opening measures 18 3/8. If your am is a true 19 inches, it'd be a no go. Love this tower though. Just had to adapt the back of the cabinet a little. A few extra cut outs for everything I have. The biggest problem I've had is the shelves are 14 inches deep. With my receiver and the cords all connected, it wouldn't fit unless I did the extra cuts.
