User questions & answers
Question: | Says it does 4 channel recording. It takes 4 individual channels and combines them to 2 stereo channels. Is there a way to maintain 4 separate channe |
Answer: | Hello, Yes, you can use the Scarlett 18i8 (3rd Gen) with Reaper. Best regards, Jay Lilley // Focusrite Technical Support Engineer |
Question: | I have a problem with the 60D not working with rechargeable batteries, even after changing the battery settings. Anyone else have this? Know of a fix |
Answer: | Hello, Yes this is possible in Windows. To expose additional channels from your Scarlett interface to non-ASIO applications (e.g. Skype, Discord, Zoom, Audacity) first click the Focusrite Notifier icon in the taskbar, then click "Expose/Hide Windows Channels": Best Regards, Anthony // Focusrite Support |
Question: | What's a good USB battery pack to pair with this |
Answer: | The biggest change is in the headroom. These preamps and converters are cleaner and offer more gain than the 2nd gen. These pres also come equipped with the "Air" mode which adds some high end to model the ISA preamp circuit. The 3rd gen 18i20 also has 16 ADAT I/O channels as opposed to the 2nd gen's 8 channels of ADAT. The removable ears also help with portability for the engineer who doesn't want to keep the interface in a rack. If this was helpful, please consider purchasing from us (pixelproaudio on Amazon). We can help with support after the sale as well. We have it in stock and ready to ship. - Pixel Pro Audio |
Question: | What's the difference between this and the previous version of the DR60D |
Answer: | Hi, There have been several improvements made to the 3rd generation range of interfaces. Firstly, all of the inputs on the 18i20 3rd gen feature Air mode, emulating the classic sound of our original transformer-based ISA preamps. Secondly, the 18i20 3rd gen now has the ability to switch between Main and Alternative speakers connected to it using a front panel button. Thirdly, we have added a built-in Talkback function (allowing the engineer to talk directly to the performer), a Loopback function (allowing audio from one application to be recorded into another without connecting cables), Dual ADAT ports for recording 16 channels of audio into the DAW at 96kHz, optical S/PDIF and removable rack ears. Lastly, the specifications of the preamps and conversion have been improved even further - for example, the dynamic range has been increased to 111dB and the gain range is now 56dB instead of 50dB on the 2nd generation. Best regards, Laurence Clarke // Focusrite Technical Support |

User questions & answers
Question: | Any issues with sound going out of sync after a certain amount of time |
Answer: | Didn't check sRGB, but at least the one I got almost fully covered AdobeRGB, like 98%. Not as good as my old HP LP2475 which has a much wider gamut.Keep in mind, at least on Windows, Photoshop has scaling issues on a 4k display. The other Adobe programs work fine. |
Question: | Does the DR-70D lose it's settings if you remove the batteries |
Answer: | If using multiple monitors with different resolutions, make sure the highest resolution monitor is the primary one. I thought, mistakenly it turns out, that I'd like to use my 1080P monitor for the desktop and use Lightroom's dual monitor support to put the image on the higher resolution secondary display. It is amazing how many boxes from Lightroom to just plain installing software became difficult to impossible to use. My new plan is to use my HP 5K monitor as the primary display and this NEC for Lightroom's secondary image display. |
Question: | can you monitor or adjust each mic line seperately on the tascam 70d online reviews says you can only do that with the tascam 60d mk |
Answer: | since I don't have the two monitors side by side, can't answer that specifically. I am also a photographer, and once I hooked this up - the clarity blew me away. I love it - have not color calibrated it yet. |
Question: | Can the 701d be powered any way besides batteries? ex. usb or a/c |
Answer: | No it does not but it is well worth the price |

TASCAM DR-70D
The DR-70D from TASCAM is the ultimate audio recording solution for filmmakers. Four balanced XLR mic inputs meet the requirements of production sound, from professional users to indie DSLR shooters. The compact format can be mounted either above or below a camera, and a pair of built-in microphones can capture sound on-set. 4 XLR/TRS combo jacks allow a variety of setups
XLR/TRS inputs are built-into the DR-70D. The four-channel design enables combinations of shotgun microphones, lavaliere mics, and the built-in stereo mic to be recorded individually. 3.5mm Stereo Mini Jack Input Accepts Video Camera Mics
The 3.5mm stereo 1-2 input mini jack allows the connection of consumer video camera mics. For example, connect a video camera mic for ambiance to jack 1-2, and shotgun mics to the XLR 3-4 jacks. This unit can supply plug-in power to the microphone and has a maximum input level of +10 dBV.
Slate tone generator makes alignment with video files easy
The built-in generator can produce slate tones that can be used as references when aligning audio and video. Line up the waveforms when you need perfect sync between audio and video. In addition to being able to produce slate tones when recording starts or when it starts and stops, the Slate button can be used to add slate tones at any desired point.

TASCAM TM-2X
The directional condenser microphones equipped on the TM-2X are the same mics used in our highly-regarded DR-series recorders. The X-Y pattern and two mic capsules are ideal for capturing a true representation of the sonic atmosphere, whether it's sound from a wide area or directly in front of the camera. As a result, the TM-2X records pristine sound that fits naturally with the recorded video.
Delivers high audio quality and the capacity to handle high sound pressures
We have consistently utilized our expertise in developing recording devices that focus on the design of the analog circuits behind the mic capsules. As a result, the TM-2X achieves a high performance rating and a frequency response of 50 Hz to 20 kHz. Furthermore, we designed the TM-2X with the capacity to handle high sound pressures up to 120 dB SPL to prevent distortion even in loud scenarios.
Built-in stereo mini plug output can be connected directly
Setup is as simple as connecting the cord from the TM-2X to the camera's mic input jack allowing you to add high-quality audio to video. The output can be set to one of two levels to enable compatibility with a variety of cameras.
On-board Low-cut filter eliminates unwanted low frequencies
The unit includes an on-board low-cut filter to cut out low-frequency background noise. Depending on the video recording scenario, you can choose to turn this feature on or off (Low cut/Flat).
Noise isolation arm to reduce lens operation noise included
When capturing video using changeable auto-focus lenses, the sounds produced from the lens itself can disrupt and interfere with recordings. In situations where this noise is a problem, you can reduce the interruptions by using the included noise isolation arm. The noise isolation arm physically increases the distance from the noise source to reduce its capture. The structure of the arm, including its length and height, was developed through extensive testing.
Floating structure reduces handling noise
The floating support structure underneath the mics absorbs unwanted handling noise and sounds from cameras' mechanics.
Furry windscreen to reduce wind noise
When filming outdoors, even a slight breeze can enter the mic and cause wind noise. This unit comes with a furry windscreen that can physically prevent this noise from occurring. Wind noise can be reduced by simply covering the mic unit with this windscreen.

TASCAM's DR-60DmkII is a portable recorder designed from the ground up to be the ideal recorder for DSLR filmmakers. The design of the DR-60DmkII contains a tripod mounting screw on top and socket hole on the bottom, integrating perfectly with cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, and others. The camera output attenuates down to mic level before passing the signal to the camera to prevent distortion. The new version includes an improved microphone preamp for up to 64dB of gain and a smoother sound. A pair of XLR microphone inputs feed TASCAM's latest HDDA microphone preamps and provides phantom power for condenser microphones. The preamp gain and other controls are easily accessed from the front panel with physical controls instead of software menus for quick adjustment. These preamps are recorded at audiophile resolution using premium A-to-D converters, for audio quality that far outshines the camera audio. Individual headphone and line outputs allow an additional feed on-set. A second pair of inputs can be patched to wireless receivers or other sources for four-track recording. Alternatively, Dual Recording mode captures a safety track of your audio at a lower level. If an actor suddenly belts out a line, distorting the recorder, Dual Recording provides a non-distorted backup copy. There's also a limiter and low cut filter to avoid overdriving your tracks. The DR-60DmkII records Broadcast WAVE files, time-stamped with the time of day, to SD card medi

Answer: | Sorry, this AD3 preamp does not have a ground lift switch |
Question: | Are the xlr inputs the kind that also allow a 1/4" plug or just xlr connection |
