User questions & answers

Question: Is the speaker clear and loud enough? How much time is required to fully charge this
Answer: I find it clear enough with no problem for voice recordings (kept at bedside, so I whisper often and no problem hearing or making out the words). I plug in via usb to computer and it takes a hour or two, not entirely sure how long. I've also used a cell phone plug and it seems a bit faster. (Just a note that all the on screen commands on mine are not in English, but Japanese characters and no way to change that I've found - and there are very many command options, of which I only use erase which I laboriously figured out).
Question: can you store and listen to music like a mp3 player
Answer: Technically, yes. Plug it into your computer, copy over your music files and listen on the built-in speaker or headphones. However, while the speaker is certainly good quality for voice, it's really not meant for music. Nor is the interface good for selecting songs. It has none of the functionality of a dedicated music player (playlists, albums, genres, etc). So, while it is technically possible, I would not recommend it as a music player. I love it as a voice recorder and use it all the time.
Question: Is this English menu version
Answer: Yes
Question: Is there an ability to record during a charging process?(mainly I want to know will it work with power bank or no
Answer: Hi Vardan: This is a great question! I had never thought of that before! So, I looked it up in the user manual from Sony's website, and there did not seem to be any reference to it. So ... I tried it myself! And, sure enough, it works! I had it plugged in via the USB cable and verified it was charging, and then pressed the record button, and it recorded. So, the answer to your question is YES! And thanks for asking it ... I had never even thought about this before, and it does open up some new possibilities, because you can record for a long time, basically until the memory is filled, and it will keep going until that point. I hope this helps! This is a fantastic (and unusual) recorder, so make sure you consider it before you make a decision.-- Ray

User questions & answers

Question: questions: 1) Does this date and time stamp the file name? 2)Does this have a calendar seach option (where you can search by date in the folders
Answer: 1. The time and date are saved, but only the date is indicated on the audio file. You can have it show the time it was recorded as you play it back (or time elapsed/remaining).2. Yes. There's a calendar and you can select a day and it'll show all the files recorded that day. Very handy feature.
Question: Does it have a backlite feature thank you
Answer: No. I read thru the Sony user manual and could find no mention of a backlite feature. I did not see a backlite button on the device either.
Question: What comes with this product
Answer: Hi Lyinglam,Here are the accessories that comes with this recorder.-Stereo headphones (1)-Carrying pouch (1)-LR03 (size AAA) alkaline battery(2)-Quick Start GuideThanks,>Joffrey
Question: Hows the recording quality if device is kept in the pocket
Answer: You'll likely hear loud rustling every time you move, but it should be expected. If you leave it in your breast pocket, the quality might be muffled depending on how much room you give the mics. Leaving it in pant pockets will pick up normal/loud conversations in close proximity if you stay perfectly still on account of the magnified rustling noise. Increasing the mic. sensitivity to high will improve voice pick up, but it will also intensify the rustling sound. As a solution, you can use a lapel or external mic. for the best result.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this recorder have zoom function technology for recording things at a distance like some olympus recorders
Answer: No
Question: Does this recorder have a mic and remote port
Answer: It does have an external mic input (1/8 inch) and comes with an app for your smart phone but no remote port. The app is for basic control of the unit like record on and off, pause and input level control and the app gives visual indication of battery life, recording resolution and the waveform as it is being recorded. One thing I don’t like about the unit is the lack of choices for resolution quality either with a micro card or the internal memory. Great unit over all.
Question: Hello, can this device record a cell phone and land line call? I don't mean by holding the device close to the source of sound
Answer: This device does have an external audio input which can be adjusted to record mic-level or line-level signals. Audio from a telephone can be sent to this input using a telephone recording device. Such devices are available using a telephone jack and/or an induction pickup. The audio from a cell phone can be similarly captured and recorded using the cell phone's headphone jack and appropriate hardware and/or an induction pickup. I'll leave it to others more familiar with telephone recording to suggest or recommend telephone adapters. Please review the laws regarding recording of telephone or other conversations to make sure your application is legal.
Question: Does it have blue tooth for iPhone
Answer: Yes, you can control it by iPhone through blue tooth to start stop recording, and some configuration

User questions & answers

Question: Do you have to install the Sound Organizer software to access the audio or will the recorder show up as a drive to access audio directly
Answer: The recorder will show up as a drive when connected to a USB port. You don't have to have Sound Organizer but it's a pretty handy piece of software. Since you can set your recordings to MP3 or WAV you can avoid the software and load the recordings directly into your player software. Sound Organizer lets you edit your sound files (divide, merge, etc.) and add metadata to them (notes about the files).
Question: Does this come with it's own memory card
Answer: 4 GB of available internal flash memory provides 1,073 hours. In addition, it has Memory Card Expansion Slot (microSD/M2) so you can add memory. I use a 8GB card in mine. You have to set the memory that you use so it doesn't automatically utilize all of the memory. In other words, you use the menu to say use "Built-in Memory" or "Memory Card" and then all of your recordings (playing and recording) will be on that selection.
Question: How much NH-AAA-B2KN/NH-AAA-B2EN Rechargeable batteries cost
Answer: The Duracell alkaline battery - AAA works well and lasts a long time. I use mine to write songs and write as many as 21 songs in a day. It lasts about 3 months with this usage. The batteries are easy to find and sometimes are on sale.
Question: is the recorder voice operated
Answer: YES it CAN BE voice operated - it's sort of a hidden feature - If you go into the MENU function, you'll see an option called VOR which is Voice Operated Recording. I just found this in the online manual - instructions are found at http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=ICDPX333&template_id=1®ion_id=1&tab=manuals#/manualsTab
