Answer:	Just a note about recording into a dslr: the bitrate and sample rate you set on the zoom doesn't affect the bitrate and sample rate recorded onto the dslr file. Your dslr always determines the bitrate and sample rate. (IE: for most Canon's that's 44khz/16 bit). The audio quality from the zoom will be better than your on-camera mic simply because the microphone itself is higher quality, but don't expect to be recording 96khz/24 bit audio straight into your dslr's .mov files!

Answer:	Sure thing. I use mine as a primary aiduo recorder for my Nikon D5300. I use the sound from the camera as areference track and then stnc the wave file from the Zoom to the video using Final Cut X. Works perfect with much better sound quality.

Answer:	You get roughly 12 hours on the 2GB micro SD card included, in MP3 320kbps. Quality is excellent. If you want WAV format your looking at about 2.5 hours with the stock card. Larger cards are cheap though so it's upgradable.

Question:	What's a good USB battery pack to pair with this
Answer:	The biggest change is in the headroom. These preamps and converters are cleaner and offer more gain than the 2nd gen. These pres also come equipped with the "Air" mode which adds some high end to model the ISA preamp circuit. The 3rd gen 18i20 also has 16 ADAT I/O channels as opposed to the 2nd gen's 8 channels of ADAT. Answer:	Hi, There have been several improvements made to the 3rd generation range of interfaces. Firstly, all of the inputs on the 18i20 3rd gen feature Air mode, emulating the classic sound of our original transformer-based ISA preamps. Secondly, the 18i20 3rd gen now has the ability to switch between Main and Alternative speakers connected to it using a front panel button. Thirdly, we have added a built-in Talkback function (allowing the engineer to talk directly to the performer), a Loopback function (allowing audio from one application to be recorded into another without connecting cables), Dual ADAT ports for recording 16 channels of audio into the DAW at 96kHz, optical S/PDIF and removable rack ears. Lastly, the specifications of the preamps and conversion have been improved even further - for example, the dynamic range has been increased to 111dB and the gain range is now 56dB instead of 50dB on the 2nd generation. Answer:	I think what happens is that the recording is still resident but just ends with the *beep beep* of the battery dying. I've not paid attention lately to it, though.

Answer:	There's no difference between the DR-05X and 2019 model as the 05X was only introduced in 2019. Version 2 was an older version. The display on the newer one is brighter and easier to read. This model will accept more SD card styles and a larger sd card size.

Answer:	No, need protection against the elements.

I saw it a video on YouTube that's how some paranormal investigators advise so you don't get all the noise pick up from holding it in your hand or the material rubbing sounds, sounds it may picks up from being in your pocket when you walk or move,,,,,,,,, I hope this help you out in some way.

Question:	Can an acoustic electric guitar be plugged directly into the 1/4" input for clean recording
Answer:	The answer is yes but depends on the pre amps of your guitars pickup. Some electric guitars have better and more pickups then acoustic/electric guitars so they will need less gain from the recording device. I would say it would be fine for acoustic/ electric guitar if you have decent pickups. I would recommend recording acoustic guitar with the provided stereo microphone that are exceptionally good as they are made for the the zooms built in preamps. these microphones are condensor so they will be very precise in picking up the natural ambience and accoustic characteristics of your guitar. Answer:	The 4 XLR inputs create individual mono files from the mics attached. The attached mics, 2 at 90 degrees as shown in picture, create a single stereo file. All 5 of these files can be mixed using an audio package. I did this using 4 mics and the 90 degree onboard to record my nephews band playing a gig. I remixed the audio using those files and then laid that over the video track of same song. worked beautifully.

Answer:	I've always used it with batteries. However, I did purchase the Zoom Accessory Pack for the H2n Portable Recorder which includes among other things an AC power adapter. Available at Amazon for $29.25.

Answer:	This is done in post. You have several options: 1) Use an audio/video sync app. Red Giant's Plural Eyes 4, is what I use and it is SUPER easy to use 2) Use your video editing app if it supports it. Adobe Premiere will do this sync, but not quite as good as Plural Eyes 3) Do a "Clap" at the beginning of each clip when recording, and manually sync them yourself where you see the large peak from the clap hope this helps
Question:	Can you get sound quality that's good enough for podcasts or radio
Answer:	If you attach a 2nd mic to filter background noise you will get excellent quality sound. By itself it's pretty good but, it will pick up any background noise so just don't podcast where there is a lot of that.

Answer:	Yes, it will work, depending on what camera you have. It comes with a TRRS plug which is required when you want to plug it into a cellphone to record audio. (*Reason being that a microphone requires power to run, and a cellphone jack doesn't give off power. Since this was designed with cellphone use in mind, they used a TRRS plug that would draw power from your phone to run the mic.*) However, if you want to plug it into a camera, or another device with an external mic jack, you will need to buy the Rode SC3 adapter. (*Reason being that devices with a jack for an external microphone do give off power to run that microphone, so the extra function of the TRRS tip is not necessary.*)That Rode SC3 adapter will change the plug from TRRS to TRS, which can then be used with your nikon dslr, or other device with a 3.5mm external microphone jack.

Answer:	Absolutely! However your results will depend on the placement of the device. You could record a live performance using either the internal mic or using external mics strategically located. This little unit is pretty diverse in it's application. Results depend on your recording acumen. Which develop over time.
Question:	Can you transfer your recording to a thumb drive
Answer:	You record individual tracks that are then mixed down by you into a stereo mp3 with this same unit. From there, you can do anything with the mp3 file - put it on a thumb drive, email it, upload it, etc. If you are asking "can you go directly to thumb drive?", I don't think there is an easy way. It has an SD card that you can take out and put in any card reader, then you would be able to transfer onto a thumb drive.

Question:	Can you take this on an airplane in a non-carryon bag
Answer:	I have tried 3 different brands of AA NiMH batteries in DR60DmkII and all work, though I have the BP-6AA now because the DR60DmkII goes through them so quickly! Though accessible when on a tripod, changing the batteries required that I lift up tripod + backup recorder I mount on top on its side. The BP-6AA + DR60DmkII lasts all day with six 4th gen Eneloops. As noted, just remember to change the "Battery Type" menu item under Others > System to NiMH.
Question:	How man lav mics does this come with? How many jacks are they? I need at least 2 jacks
Answer:	Right now I use the Blackwed, model # BWB15TA223, it's a 8000mAh bank. Was able to get a few good hours out of it.

Answer:	This one has pretty red colored handled in front - Seriously, after field and smoke testing the DR60D and this one, you prob won't be able to tell any difference. It's still a good unit, don't get me wrong; the DR60D is a great unit that I have used paired up with a Rode NTG-2 for a lot of great audio, but aside from a 'better' preamp (which most people won't notice in the audio quality anyway) there isn't a reason to upgrade to this if you already own a DR60D - Although I will say the colored handles do look pretty cool, but not a valid reason to upgrade from the previous unit. If you own the previous one, no need to get this. If you're in the market for one, get the newer one. Cheers!
