12 best radio mobiles

Radio mobiles, commonly known as two-way radios, are communication devices that enable wireless communication between individuals or groups. They are widely used in various industries, including public safety, construction, hospitality, and outdoor activities. Here are some key aspects of radio mobiles:

  1. Two-Way Communication:

    • Two-way radios allow for communication in both directions.Users can transmit and receive messages, making them ideal for real-time coordination.
  2. Frequency Bands:

    • Two-way radios operate on specific frequency bands allocated for radio communication. Common bands include VHF (Very High Frequency) and UHF (Ultra High Frequency).
  3. CB (Citizens Band) Radios:

    • CB radios are a specific type of two-way radio that operates on the Citizens Band for personal and business communication. They are popular for use in vehicles and have specific channels designated for different purposes.
  4. Portable and Mobile Units:

    • Two-way radios come in portable handheld units or mobile units designed for installation in vehicles. Portable units are convenient for on-the-go communication, while mobile units provide higher power and extended range.
  5. Range:

    • The effective communication range of two-way radios depends on factors like frequency, power output, and terrain. UHF radios are generally better suited for urban environments, while VHF radios may have better range in open areas.
  6. Battery Life:

    • Portable two-way radios are powered by rechargeable batteries. Battery life varies based on usage patterns, power settings, and the capacity of the batteries.
  7. Channels and Codes:

    • Radios typically have multiple channels, and some models allow users to set privacy codes or tones to avoid interference from other users on the same channel.
  8. Durability and Weather Resistance:

    • Many two-way radios are designed to be durable and weather-resistant, making them suitable for use in challenging environments.
  9. Emergency Features:

    • Some models come with emergency features such as built-in alarms, SOS signals, and weather alerts.
  10. License Requirements:

    • Depending on the frequency band and power output, a license may be required for using certain two-way radios. CB radios, however, typically do not require a license.
  11. Accessories:

    • Two-way radios often have a range of accessories, including headsets, microphones, and external antennas, to enhance usability in different scenarios.
  12. Regulatory Compliance:

    • It's important to ensure that the chosen two-way radio complies with relevant regulations and standards in your region.

When selecting a two-way radio system, consider your specific communication needs, the environment in which you'll be using the radios, and any regulatory requirements. It's essential to choose a reliable and durable model that suits your intended use.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used to tune an outdoor antenna connected to a baofeng uv-5r on both bands? thanks
Answer: Yes this speaker will fit your vehicle... JWH
Question: im looking for something that test rf cables with tnc/bnc connectos to see if the cable is good, is this what this device does
Answer: The speaker comes with what is shown in the pictures. Plugs?? If you look at the picture with the speaker upside down, you can see on the right side two "L' shaped pieces of metal. Your two speaker wires need to have a metal clip attached to them that would slide onto those "L" shaped pieces of metal. If you are replacing a speaker, you will be removing the speaker wire from the old speaker by sliding the speaker wire clip off of the old speaker.
Question: Since it only comes with a 5 watt dummy load, why doesn't it have a 100 watt dummy load? a 5 watt dummy load will burn up at 100 watts
Answer: Depends on you unit your hooking these up to...
Question: Does it come with the dummy load? Or do i have to order one too
Answer: Not sure, but I doubt it. The only output from the main screen is to plug in the second one, and that is not a hdmi connection.

User questions & answers

Question: Will these work with samcom handheld gmrs
Answer: It should work with any GMRS radios.
Question: Can anyone tell me exactly what i will need to program this, i have the 5r uv portable and the cord was wrong costing me more money
Answer: I recommend not programming with chirp. there are alot of restrictions on gmrs radio and limited number of channels you can only transmit on so there is really no need to use the software for the 22 rx/tx channels you have. unless you want to add a bunch of listen only channels its easy to program through the radio interface and if you use repeaters you will be forced to reprogram channels as you travel since you can only store 8 repeater channel settings
Question: It this radio part 95 accepted by the FCC
Answer: Yes this radio is part 95 accepted by the FCC.
Question: could i use cigarette lighter adapter for power up this radio
Answer: The advertised maximum amperage draw is 20 amps, and the supply wires are fairly heavy - 12 or 14 AGW; so it's probably too heavy for your typical cigarette lighter c circuit (15 A). The supply leads are fused from the manufacturer, and direct battery connection is recommended.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this come with a separation kit or does it depend on the seller
Answer: It comes with a 6p6c based connector line ('telephone' type cord) for relocating the head unit.Ronald A. is also correct about the speaker being in the main body, so unless you mount it under your seat you will need an extension speaker.
Question: Can you use chirp to program
Answer: YES you can now use CHIRP to program the TH-9800. I just did so this week. However, the cable I got with my radio has a counterfeit chip in it so you may need to roll back the driver. I run windows 10 and had to roll it back. You'll be looking for a driver with 3.2.2 something. Not difficult but something to be aware of. After rolling back teh driver, it works like a charm (CHIRP and the cable).
Question: hello, please somebody cant tell me what base antenna is good for this radio
Answer: If you are planning to use this radio as your base radio (and not mobile), why not use a diplexer to split the antenna connector into two (or more) antenna jacks? That would allow you to have (at a minimum) one antenna for 2m/70cm and another antenna for 6m/10m. Frankly, that will allow much better performance vs. anyone's compromised 4 band antenna (and I've tried several of them).
Question: Is there an extended cable for the removable face plate? Thanks
Answer: It comes with the extension cable and removeable face kit bracket. You will need to provide your own remote speaker or Bluetooth adapter.

Answer: 154.10000 - ladd 1, 158.94000 - ladd 2, 154.32500 - ladd 3, and 173.37000 ladd 4 can all be transmitted and received on Anytone At-778UV. Frequency's on radio are between Uhf 400-490 and VHF 136-174 MHz. Easy-peazy.
Question: Why do these radios NOT include the programming cable, which is necessary to use this equipment
Answer: I am unsure if this is a real question or a criticism. I would rather these companies include the cable too but the radio can be programmed (configured) through the front panel buttons. Another reason they don't include the cable with each radio is you might already have a cable for that radio. For example, I purchased a $200 AT-5888 from AnyTone which came with a programming cable. When I purchased the AT-778uv, it did not but I already had the cable from the AT-5888 which is the same cable. In closing I'll say in HAM radio some amateurs like to build their own stuff. Building radio programming cables can be fun. I've made a few., I've made a couple AnyTone cables as well even though I already had a factory cable. Beware that the cable schematics you may find on the Internet may work for the AT-5888 but NOT work with the AT-788uv due to a missing signal diode. Enjoy.
Question: will it scan both band simultaneously
Answer: It has dual stby meaning you can monitor both bands simultaneously. If you create a memory list it will scan your memory list regardless of what band it is in.
Question: What is the current draw at full power 25 watts
Answer: You can estimate the max transmit draw on a 12V radio by multiplying the power output by 2. For example, this radio has a 25W output, so 2x25W = 50W. Divided by 12V gives you about 4.2A. This is in the ballpark.

User questions & answers

Question: Seller: Please check the price because it must be a mistake
Answer: Junk! Do not buy!
Question: Can this radio talk to motorola talkabout type radios using frs/gmrs
Answer: Not legally. The 25X2 can be programmed to FRS and GMRS frequencies however it is not legal. FRS/GMRS radios have antenna and Tx power restrictions that the 25X2 does not meet. Do a search on FRS/GMRS and you will find lots of information.
Question: How much bigger I’d the 25x2. Ompared to the 2501 3rd gen
Answer: The 2501 is a bit smaller by height only, measuring L = 4.5 inch, W = 4 inch, H = 1.5 inch. The 25x2 measures L= 4.5 inch, W = 4 inch and H = 2 inch.
Question: is the size right? looks much smaller than 12.4x8x
Answer: Chassis Size: 3.9"(W) x 1.4"(H) x 4.7(D)" (98 x 35 x 118 mm)

User questions & answers

Question: Do these have to be used with a repeater? what is the distance it can transmit with and without the repeater
Answer: Low Power on Channels 1-7 (FRS/GMRS shared channels), presumably 5 watts. No access to Channels 8-14 (FRS only channels), Medium/Hi Power on Channels 15-22, presumably 40 watts on High, unknown PEP on Medium setting. RP 15-18 Channels transmit on one frequency and receive on another (requiring a radio that can be program to transmit and receive on different frequencies, or a repeater. Transmit distances on GMRS frequencies are based on the antenna, height of the antenna, transmitter's power output (limited to 50 watts for repeaters) and the terrain. Also, UHF (GMRS frequencies) performs better in building but not as well in open field like VHF.
Question: Is this a Ham Radio
Answer: No, This is a 40 Watt GMRS Radio.
Question: When are these radios going to be updated with the new additional gmrs channels
Answer: Channels 8–14, formerly exclusive to FRS, since September 28, 2017 can be used by GMRS at 0.5 watts. Channels 15–22, formerly reserved exclusively for GMRS, can be used at up to 2 watts in the FRS. This is why. Maybe in the future they will. Hope this helps you.
Question: What kind of license is needed with this raido
Answer: There is conflicting information below. I hold both a GMRS licence, and a Amateur Radio License (Tech). This radio requires a GMRS license. No test, $70 for immediate family for 10 years. Having an amateur radio license DOES NOT qualify someone to operate on GMRS; the two licenses are for different proposes and frequency ranges. A license does help the FCC to enforce airwave regulations, something I've changed my opinion on-now believing in stronger enforcement-over the last few years. The question does come up, "Who's going to stop me?" Honestly, maybe no one. But for me, the more I see the dissolve of rule-of-law, good manners, and good sense, the more important it becomes to be a person who is fighting the real battle: whether or not to be a person if integrity. (BTW - If someone truly didn't want or can't get a license, for whatever reason, there are some other radio services that everyone is "licensed" to use (called "license by rule"; there is no "unlicensed" radio bands, so-to-speak) like Citizens Band (CB's), Family Radio Service (FRS, often packaged with GMRS, so know which channels you can use and at what power settings), etc. Radios can be great fun and good experiences for kids. Teach them well, and I hope to hear you on-the-air sometime!

User questions & answers

Question: can you also use AA batteries to power these radios
Answer: Yes you can, however the output power will drop drastically (form 5 to I think about 2W) with no indication on the display - it would still show “H” for High power. With the included battery pack though (which is essentially 5 1.2 NiMH AAA batteries in series) it achieves 5W transmit power. Which means if you buy it because of 5W output you must use battery pack. However battery pack does not last long. It is only 700mAh. Radio consumes 42mA on standby. So about 16 hours standby time if you don’t transmit. Charding time on the other hand is 12 hours. Make your own conclusions.
Question: what is the best REAL range I can expect
Answer: There are certainly many different choices available to folks regarding radio choices. Many consumers, however, fall into the trap of believing the misleading advertising that various manufacturer’s use to help sell their products, especially when they are in panic mode due to a natural disaster (like an earthquake) or (currently) various lock-down scenarios due to the latest overseas virus. One frequently used example of this buying trap are the claims of 35 to 50 mile range from 1/2 watt UHF FRS/GMRS handheld radios with non-removable antennas (frequently seen on various Cobra, Midland, Motorola, and Uniden radios sold at various big box stores or on the internet). At UHF frequencies (and with a decent antenna), you’ll normally get around 1 mile of range for every 1 watt of power on transmit, so a 1/2 watt big box store FRS/GMRS radio is likely to get only 1/2 mile of range, nowhere near the 35 to 50 mile claims shown on the box in large type (with the phrase “under optimum conditions” shown in very small type). What that means is that if one individual is standing near the cliff face on a tall 9,000 ft. high mountain and his friend is doing the same thing 35 miles away (with nothing between the two mountains but air), then they “may” get the 35 mile range as advertised. When both individuals are at ground level, normal range is reduced to a 1/2 mile (or less) depending upon obstructions that may be in their way.
Question: How much range can I expect from these radios in rugged, mountainous and forested terrain
Answer: Expect
Question: do I need a gmrs license
Answer: I called the FCC. If the radio goes beyond 2 watts, even if you are only using the lower-power channels, you still need to spend the $70 for the 10 year license. immediate family can use radios with your license (and you on the channel). GMRS will make for a better experience. I would just get it to be safe.
