Question:	When using as a crossband repeater am I able to change the frequency/channel remotely via the HT allowing me to move from one repeater to another
Answer:	Yes, as long as your are using a compatible Kenwood HT (not sure which Kenwood HT's are considered "compatible"). Page 85 of the owner's manual describes how to remotely control they TM-V71A.
Question:	Is it possible to program a memory channel to have a cross band split? As in when I key the mic it transmits on UHF, but it receives on VHF
Answer:	Search your manual but I don't think so. You can program anything that has to do with a specific station/repeater into a memory channel, however the function of the radio acting as a repeater is a radio function, not a memory "channel" option.
Question:	Does the mic plug into the faceplate or the main unit? If main unit, how do you run the mic? Thanks
Answer:	Microphone does not plug into the faceplate. If you use remote cable for faceplate, your mic will be running from the main unit, not the remote faceplate.

Answer:	It comes with a 6p6c based connector line ('telephone' type cord) for relocating the head unit.Ronald A. is also correct about the speaker being in the main body, so unless you mount it under your seat you will need an extension speaker.
Question:	Can you use chirp to program
Answer:	YES you can now use CHIRP to program the TH-9800. I just did so this week. However, the cable I got with my radio has a counterfeit chip in it so you may need to roll back the driver. I run windows 10 and had to roll it back. You'll be looking for a driver with 3.2.2 something. Not difficult but something to be aware of. After rolling back teh driver, it works like a charm (CHIRP and the cable).

Answer:	If you are planning to use this radio as your base radio (and not mobile), why not use a diplexer to split the antenna connector into two (or more) antenna jacks? That would allow you to have (at a minimum) one antenna for 2m/70cm and another antenna for 6m/10m. Frankly, that will allow much better performance vs. anyone's compromised 4 band antenna (and I've tried several of them).

Answer:	I would not recommend using Chirp! I bought 4 of these radios and tried using chirp until I turned one of the radios into a book end. The unit stopped responding to the software and I could no longer bring up the menu on the radio. I found the programming software on Leixen's website. The radio is the VV-898 find the version of the radio (mine were the 108) download and use this software. I have as had no issues reading and writing to both channel banks and setting other radio options.

Answer:	It depends on how your programming the radio. are you using the factory software, did you get RT systems software which I highly recommend that's worth the money, or are you using chirp? and some instances too you're going to have trouble with your windows driver it depends on what version of Windows you're using. Anyway you probably just have to change your comport settings which some of the software variations let you choose. Or look into your driver because you might have some driver issues

Answer:	This radio is strictly an FM radio, at least as far as transmitting. It will transmit on the 6 meter, 10 meter, 2 meter, and 70 cm bands, but again, only in FM. It may receive AM on the aircraft bands, but I can't confirm this as both of the CMX138 audio chips in my radio have failed.

Answer:	I've been using a QYT TH-9800 quad band for over a year. I have run quite a few nets at over 2 hours long and several at over 3 hours long (high usage when running a net). No problems and no complaints. You will want one with a programing cable and will probably have to "roll back" or install a different driver than your windows computer will automatically install (newer windows systems recognize counterfeit chips)....not a big deal, just go to the Miklor website and it's the same procedure as for a Baofeng cable.

And if you want to change the default frequency manually to 136-174MHz and UHF: 430~490MHz, below is the instruction: 1, Turn off the radio, then press P4 + FUNC+ Power on key at the same time; 2, Rotate channel knob to choose the Mode Item; 3, Press the PTT key on the hand mic,when the Model Item change bule, rotate the channel knob to choose the frequency model you need; 4, Turn off the radio and turn on it, you will change the default frequency mode.
