14 best mobile cb radio
Mobile Citizens Band (CB) Radio:
Mobile CB radios are a type of two-way radio system commonly used for communication in vehicles, primarily for short-range, point-to-point communication. Here are some key points about mobile CB radios:
Purpose: Mobile CB radios are designed for use in vehicles, such as cars, trucks, or RVs. They provide a means for drivers to communicate with each other, especially on long journeys, for traffic updates, or for emergency communication.
Frequency Band: CB radios operate on the Citizens Band radio service, which uses a specific set of 40 channels in the 27 MHz (11-meter) frequency range. These frequencies are reserved for CB radio use and are regulated by government agencies.
Channels: The 40 CB channels are divided into two sets: the "standard" channels (1-40) and the "single sideband" (SSB) channels (Upper Sideband - USB: 36-40 and Lower Sideband - LSB: 1-4).SSB channels are used for long-distance communication and have a different modulation method compared to standard channels.
Modes: CB radios typically operate in two modes: AM (Amplitude Modulation) and SSB. AM is used for standard channels and is suitable for short-range communication, while SSB provides greater range and is preferred for long-distance communication.
Antennas: To maximize the range and effectiveness of a mobile CB radio, a suitable antenna is essential. There are various types of CB antennas, including whip antennas and magnetic mount antennas, which can be installed on the vehicle.
Usage: Mobile CB radios are often used by truckers, RV enthusiasts, off-roaders, and people who need to communicate while on the road. They can be used for casual chatting, reporting road conditions, and seeking assistance in emergencies.
Legal Requirements: The use of CB radios is subject to specific regulations and licensing requirements in some countries. In many places, no license is required for operating CB radios, but there are restrictions on power output and antenna height.
Accessories: CB radio users often use various accessories, including external speakers, noise-canceling microphones, and SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) meters to optimize their radio setups.
Range: The range of a mobile CB radio can vary widely based on factors such as terrain, antenna height, and atmospheric conditions. In ideal conditions, they can reach several miles, while SSB channels may enable communication over much greater distances.
Privacy: CB radio channels are shared, so conversations can be heard by others using the same channel. Users often use "handles" or nicknames for identification rather than revealing personal information.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the radio have a 12v plug or does it need to be wired up |
Answer: | And no there is no 12v plug or anything. Just has a positive and negative for wiring to your power supply of your choosing. And yes to needing to be wired up which is easier than you think. |
Question: | If I wanted to hook this CB up to the cigarette lighter socket, what kind of cord do I need to purchase |
Answer: | The CB has two wires built in so all you would need is a cigarette lighter socket adapter and wire it up. The wires are about 4' long so you should have no problems where you mount it. The wiring is very easy - that's the set up I have so I can unplug and remove the CB when I'm just driving around locally. |
Question: | Do i need to buy and antenna for this? Or does it come with one |
Answer: | It needs an antenna regardless? There is no internal one? Is it ok to leave the small antenna inside the vehicle? Like in the trunk or glove box? |
Question: | What is frequency output range?what is the wattage |
Answer: | The 520XL can also be taken to any CB shop and be "peaked and tuned" to over double the factory power. This is a very common practice that any trucker will do with his/her CB. This radio, peaked and tuned will deliver 8.5-9.0 watts with 17-18 watt peaks. This is more than twice the factory (legal) power, and adds significant range and clarity to your radio. As far as I am aware, there are no other compact radios on the market with the ability to be peaked and having the RF gain control in a compact unit is AWESOME. This radio is a gem. Buy it, peak it, love it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use a fire stick antenna with this unit |
Answer: | Jeff: Yes you can. You must use detach the flexible portable antenna, attach the provided vehicle 12 volt power source, and then attach the external antenna to the unit. |
Question: | are there handle bar mounts for the radio for motorcycle |
Answer: | The only one I've found was was from J@M model PACB-409-15. And they have a high opinion of it. I slightly modified an ARKON mount with the small pouch. I cut down the belt clip to fit in the bracket on dry days and use the pouch on wet days. |
Question: | There are many magnetic car mount antennas offered....can you suggest the cheapest yet most effective antenna to go with this unit |
Answer: | Remember your antenna is the most important part of your radio station.. Go with the Sirio Performer 5000, absolutely one of the best antennas you can get for the money.. You get what you pay for.. I've been a radio operator for over 50 years.. |
Question: | So with the adapter, you can plug the radio into something and it will use your car antenna or some other antenna and get further range? How far |
Answer: | Your antenna is the most important aspect in getting good range on your CB. For the beginner, your best bet is to buy the Midland 18-2442, Center Load Mag Mount Mobile CB Radio Antenna, available on Amazon for $19.99. It works perfectly with the Midland 75-822 unit. The magnetic base is strong enough to stay put until you remove it. It should be centered on the roof of your car, or truck cab, to radiate the best signal. |

Answer: | No. This unit remembers the last channel it was set to before shutting off. |
Question: | Does this have a channel scan feature for CB channnels |
Answer: | Yes, its scans through all 40 channels in about 4 seconds, then continues to scan repeatedly. It will stop when channels recieve anything. Including electronic noise from your trucks locks engaging and disengaging. Not all the time. It just happens every now and then. Love this radio. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a car, what antenna would be good for me to buy for this |
Answer: | Hi there, The unit reading of this portable fish finder can be changed to feet. You can press and hold the ENTER key for 3 seconds to change it from ‘M’ to ‘Ft’. Hope this helps you. |
Question: | Does it pick up uhf frequency for my uhf handheld talkies |
Answer: | I have one on my 1968 Corvette with the battery in a compartment behind the drivers seat. Just make it a little harder to get at. |
Question: | What type of connector does the mic use? Is it an RJ |
Answer: | This clamp is sized to fit the smaller diameter negative post (the positive one is too large) of a 12 volt battery. If your 6 volt battery's positive post is also larger than the negative, then you'll have to use this on the "live" negative one, which, for your application, shouldn't pose a problem. A little useful hint, I used an electrical zip tie to keep the swiveling side post of the switch close to the battery terminal, so it stays put when you unscrew the knob to break the circuit. Hope this helps. Good luck. |
Question: | What speaker work with this cb |
Answer: | I threw the top screw type away when I realized how easy it was to lose it and be completely out of luck. Go with the lever type.....it takes good finger strength to open and close and I highly doubt would juggle back into place while towing. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use this radio for a home base |
Answer: | Yes you can, but you'll need a 110v AC to 12v DC power converter and you'll also need a base station type antenna. I'm not sure why you would use this particular unit though because Midland makes a 40watt unit that would be much better suited to base station use. |
Question: | Are the privacy codes compatible with Motorola talkabout radios |
Answer: | Yes, however, I also have the T600 talkabouts and I was disappointed in the range between the MXT275 and the T600. I live in the city (Boston) in a neighborhood with lots of houses, so I knew that I had obstructions to deal with. But I thought I would have gotten better performance. The MXT to T600 only got about 50-75 feet further than the two handheld T600s got with each other. I am awaiting the upgraded 3db antenna to see if that helps any. Also, just a note, I did some research and the Talkabouts are limited to max power of 1.5 watts. Probably more realistically 1 watt consistently. I decided to pick up a set of the new Midland T295 handhelds.. as they are rated at nearly 3 watts.. probably 2.5 watts more realistically. But thats still a 150% power increase over the T600s so in theory.. I'm hoping the more powerful handheld.. paired with the MXT and the upgraded 3db antenna will have far better performance. I'm sure I'll have far more success with this set up when we use them on camping trips away from the city tho. Cheers. |
Question: | Is the internal speaker in the microphone or in the base unit |
Answer: | There are speakers in both the head unit and the base unit |
Question: | Does this radio have an internal ID that will show up on another radio or be able to be identified if used with a repeater |
Answer: | Don’t be fooled, most users don’t and shouldn’t be required to have a license to use this radio. The other answer that says you are required to have and use a call sign is false. You can get a GMRS license which might be a good thing to have. Now if your setting up a repeater I believe you do need to be licensed. |

User questions & answers
Question: | the truck i am currently driving is old and has no cig/12 volt power availible. can i charge this at night and use it without having it plugged in |
Answer: | No you have to plug it in charge it all the way up or wire a 12 v power adapter from the battery in your truck and you can charge it there |
Question: | Would this be a strong enough cb for listening to close (< 1 mile) truck drivers communicate while on the highway without an added antenna |
Answer: | No, it will not likely work. The metal body of the vehicle shields you from the signal of others. I take mine while I am driving on the Interstate. The only thing I have ever picked up is when the truckers are right next to me while I am sitting in traffic and not moving. When I am outside the vehicle, I pick stuff up within a mile or two. Most of the truckers are all using single sideband radios, and you won't be able to pick them up with this radio at all. |
Question: | what is the exact range this can be used if indoors like say im in a apartment my brother is like 2 miles away in a house will it go that far |
Answer: | There is NEVER an exact range for radio communication. The FCC rules require that CB's put out no more than 4 watts. I have accidentally talked to a guy in New Zealand from Ventura, CA and also from there to Florida. Other times you can't talk across town with the same radio. In your situation, if the two of you are in rooms with windows that face each other you can probably talk with two of these radios and no outside antenna. But put a small magnet mount outside your window, on a pizza pan (steel) and run a wire from your pizza pan to your radio and connect it to the outside of the antenna connection and now you have an ok base station antenna and ground plain, and will be able to talk much further. |
Question: | Has anyone used the uniden pro401hh? if so what do you think of it. what is the range of the device and do you think it would work in the woods |
Answer: | I have used this. In an open field was able to get .4 miles. I have not been in the woods yet. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the actual dimesions of this radio |
Answer: | You don't 'sync' this product. You convert your playlist into a .m3u file and then drag and drop the .m3u and the audio you want added to the device. http://static.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/103755.pdf If you begin on page 14 of the manual it explains it in detail. The worst part of this is that you need to have the files you want in the same folder, and moving them can be tedious if you have a large audio library. If you do some searching, there are programs that will help you do this much faster. So I wouldn't say that it "doesn't sync" so much as you have to "manually sync" by dragging and dropping. |
Question: | looking around for cb and ust wondering if this will pick up high band and low band the radio i have has a switch for high and low |
Answer: | I'm not sure, but I can describe the setup. There are two main navigation buttons - the main center button and the back button, which are also the only ones that are raised. The screen that shows the category (music, radio, settings, books, sport) also shows a navigation arrow on either side to indicate that you can hit the right and left arrows to move through the categories. The back button switches between the active screen and the category screen. Within a category, you can only navigate with the up and down arrows to choose a subcategory (artists, albums, songs) or an actual song/file to play, and you choose that by hitting the main central button. There are no onscreen indicators that you should move up and down, and if you go side to side instead you don't necessarily end up back right where you started. The central button is also the on/off switch if you hold it down for a few seconds. Worst case, randomly hitting the two main buttons generally eventually takes you wherever you want to go.So yes, it's fairly simple because there aren't a lot of choices, which means that if you get totally lost, you can just keep hitting the same couple of buttons and can eventually move around. But it can also be a little frustrating if you get caught in a category-song screen loop (if you keep hitting the same button over and over), or if you navigate right-left when you should be going up-down and end up in a different screen. The other "catch" is that the back button also functions as a lock if you hold it down a few seconds. Then a padlock appears on the screen, and then navigation is impossible (it's there to keep the song from stopping or switching if you accidentally bump the unit against anything, which is easy to do because it's a sensitive button). To unlock, you have to hit the back button, then hold it again for a few seconds. It tells you how to do so on screen ("press and hold back to unlock"), but I find it always takes me a couple of attempts to get the unlock to "take" and actually unlock it. Another issue is physical ease of use. The entire unit is SMALL. The entire unit is 2 1/4 inches tall, and the screen is 1 inch square. I can cover the entire navigation area with my thumb. So if dexterity or arthritis is an issue, the person might be better off with a larger player like the Fuze+. However, it does have the two raised buttons and the other arrows are arranged around it, so you can control it by feel more easily than on something like a full touchscreen or the Fuze+ (that is all a solid smooth surface). The text onscreen is sans serif and a thin weight, which makes it easier to read, but the size is about the same as the small text on a nutrition label on a loaf of bread, and can't be enlarged. The other issue is loading music onto it. In one sense, it's very easy. You plug it into your computer, open the folder, and click and drag music you want over to its folder. However, you can NOT make playlists. The only way to do playlists is complicated and involves reorganizing your music on your actual computer, converting it to a different format in WMP, and then loading it in, and I have never had that work right. An ipod is much easier from that aspect, since you plug it in and it automatically updates/refreshes/syncs anything you have. Podcasts take me about 15 minutes to update every week, because I have to update them in MediaMonkey, then manually transfer each new episode to the Sansa, then find them because they're mixed in with songs. If listening to podcasts is a priority, or having playlists is a priority, I would NOT get this player. But if you just want to listen to music, and want to listen to it per album, it is fine and easy to use that way. |
Question: | Does this come with mounting bracket |
Answer: | I have not tried it but 32GB should not be an issue since it was already accepted in the clip zip. Unless their firmware really cockup. Better to read the reviews if anyone is complaining about this. |
Question: | Properly set up what sort of range , in miles, could i expect .? in usb or lsb |
Answer: | The amount of memory you can add is not the most relevant answer, it would seem. After purchasing I have discovered that the device is limited to reading 2000 files on the SD card. Figuring an average of 5 Mb / song, 10 Gb is about the most I can actually utilize, unfortunately. If I had known this before buying I would have purchased a different device. |
Question: | What will cause this mic to make your radio not revive hook it up straight out the box and it’s like it’s staying keyed up |
Answer: | Yes it does. You can even turn it sideways and use it as a stand. |
Question: | Does this microphone 4-pin has a elbow-shaped connector |
Answer: | I find that wiping it down with a tiny bit of dishsoap on damp sponge does the trick. |
Question: | Is is metal or just chrome plated plastic |
Answer: | Hi. Just work for ipad air first generation |
Question: | Will this match my Galaxy 48T |
Answer: | Yes the belt clip comes off |
Question: | what is the warranty |
Answer: | Sorry I’m not sure but I do like the product |
Question: | Is this the international version of the R6 Pro |
Answer: | No second piece all one piece. I think they are showing front and back of the case |
Question: | On this site there are 3 different R5s and I can't tell the differences. Would someone please educate me |
Answer: | It is NOT come with a screen protector as the upper edge provide 3mm higher to protector the screen. Actually, the case is only fit for iPod touch 5/6th, NOT fit for an iPhone 6/6S. |
Question: | Does this support tidal offline listening? Thanks |
Answer: | It is possible that a Popsocket would stick to the case, it seems to be somewhat like a rubber type of case so that could be a concern. Sorry don't have definitive answer but the cost to find out is not too much.. :-) |

Answer: | There are several ways to use the portable fish finder. For ice fishing, you can put the transducer either on the ice layer or into the water. For kayak fishing, you can cast the transducer as far as you can and you can also fix the transducer to the boat hull, so that the fish finder could detect the fish wherever the kayak goes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this hand held 4 watts? Does it have ssb, or does president offer a hand held with ssb |
Answer: | Hello, our water barrier has a height of 1.97 inches, and the water blocking effect is very good. Welcome to buy! |
Question: | Do this radio needs to be converted |
Answer: | Who knows why it's not returnable, who cares, maybe because it's so dirt cheap it would cost more to do so, I've had mine a year almost now and works great, what you something for nothing, then want to return it. LOL! |
Question: | What’s the Power output |
Answer: | I do not think so. |
Question: | Do you need a license for this CB Radio |
Answer: | Mr. P. Gonzales: Mine is installed, so I measured it from the outside, rather than edge to edge inside dimensions before installing. It is 3 inches diameter, and, if it helps, 2" from center screw to center screw. It hooked up nicely to the wire drain plug attachment. All in all, I think it took me about a half hour to do. Would've done it sooner but I had to look for my tools. |
