Question: | Can you use a fire stick antenna with this unit |
Answer: | Jeff: Yes you can. You must use detach the flexible portable antenna, attach the provided vehicle 12 volt power source, and then attach the external antenna to the unit. |
Question: | are there handle bar mounts for the radio for motorcycle |
Answer: | The only one I've found was was from J@M model PACB-409-15. And they have a high opinion of it. I slightly modified an ARKON mount with the small pouch. I cut down the belt clip to fit in the bracket on dry days and use the pouch on wet days. |
Question: | There are many magnetic car mount antennas offered....can you suggest the cheapest yet most effective antenna to go with this unit |
Answer: | Remember your antenna is the most important part of your radio station.. Go with the Sirio Performer 5000, absolutely one of the best antennas you can get for the money.. You get what you pay for.. I've been a radio operator for over 50 years.. |
Question: | So with the adapter, you can plug the radio into something and it will use your car antenna or some other antenna and get further range? How far |
Answer: | Your antenna is the most important aspect in getting good range on your CB. For the beginner, your best bet is to buy the Midland 18-2442, Center Load Mag Mount Mobile CB Radio Antenna, available on Amazon for $19.99. It works perfectly with the Midland 75-822 unit. The magnetic base is strong enough to stay put until you remove it. It should be centered on the roof of your car, or truck cab, to radiate the best signal. |

User questions & answers
Question: | The picture is from comet's website showing a sma-24....male adapter. lazy on the part of the seller. the sma-24j is a female adapter. confusing |
Answer: | Sma-24j is a female connector which does fit the male sma connector on my BaoFeng radio. Google comet sma-24j and you will see a picture, at the top of the page, from The Antenna Farm, with a good illustration of it. |
Question: | what is the diameter(maximum) of the plastic piece close to the sma connector? Will it fit an Anytone |
Answer: | It fits my 878. The plastic around the connector is a little smaller than what is on the stock antenna. |
Question: | The picture shows a Male connection.....is this Item truly a 24J |
Answer: | Pic is a female, which fits radios with a male sma( center " pin " in the radio's male antenna jack).. There is no "pin" in 24J. |
Question: | Read that this would fit a yaesu ft60r. ordered a female, but was sent a male. to avoid future returns, will a female fit the yaesu |
Answer: | The SMA-24J works with many Chinese Radios such as Baofeng and Wouxun. If you have a FT-60R, you will need the SMA-24, which is a male connector. |

Answer: | It’s 43mm. |
Question: | What mounting solution would i use for this |

Question: | What mounting solution would i use for this |
Answer: | Yes, that's what I'm using right now. It's much better with NATO strap. |

Brand new in factory package. The genuine Comet M-24S. A superior quality 2M/440MHz Dual Band antenna on a small magnetic mount, with cable and a SMA Male connector. Most mag mount antennas require you to pull the entire magnet and antenna of the vehicle for a car wash, to secure it from theft, etc… That typically ends up scratching the mounting location. The M-24 radiating element is threaded onto the magnet. Simply unscrew the whip to lock it away or to allow clearance under parking structures, etc… and leave the magnet in place on the vehicle. Ready to go back on the air?…screw the whip back on. Gain & Wave: 2M: 1.7dBi 3/8 wave 70cm: 4.1dBi 1/4 + 5/8 wave VSWR: 1.5:1 or less Max Power: 80 watts Length: 19.5 inches Coax: RG-58A/U, 12 feet

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the radio have a 12v plug or does it need to be wired up |
Answer: | And no there is no 12v plug or anything. Just has a positive and negative for wiring to your power supply of your choosing. And yes to needing to be wired up which is easier than you think. |
Question: | If I wanted to hook this CB up to the cigarette lighter socket, what kind of cord do I need to purchase |
Answer: | The CB has two wires built in so all you would need is a cigarette lighter socket adapter and wire it up. The wires are about 4' long so you should have no problems where you mount it. The wiring is very easy - that's the set up I have so I can unplug and remove the CB when I'm just driving around locally. |
Question: | Do i need to buy and antenna for this? Or does it come with one |
Answer: | It needs an antenna regardless? There is no internal one? Is it ok to leave the small antenna inside the vehicle? Like in the trunk or glove box? |
Question: | What is frequency output range?what is the wattage |
Answer: | The 520XL can also be taken to any CB shop and be "peaked and tuned" to over double the factory power. This is a very common practice that any trucker will do with his/her CB. This radio, peaked and tuned will deliver 8.5-9.0 watts with 17-18 watt peaks. This is more than twice the factory (legal) power, and adds significant range and clarity to your radio. As far as I am aware, there are no other compact radios on the market with the ability to be peaked and having the RF gain control in a compact unit is AWESOME. This radio is a gem. Buy it, peak it, love it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | the truck i am currently driving is old and has no cig/12 volt power availible. can i charge this at night and use it without having it plugged in |
Answer: | No you have to plug it in charge it all the way up or wire a 12 v power adapter from the battery in your truck and you can charge it there |
Question: | Would this be a strong enough cb for listening to close (< 1 mile) truck drivers communicate while on the highway without an added antenna |
Answer: | No, it will not likely work. The metal body of the vehicle shields you from the signal of others. I take mine while I am driving on the Interstate. The only thing I have ever picked up is when the truckers are right next to me while I am sitting in traffic and not moving. When I am outside the vehicle, I pick stuff up within a mile or two. Most of the truckers are all using single sideband radios, and you won't be able to pick them up with this radio at all. |
Question: | what is the exact range this can be used if indoors like say im in a apartment my brother is like 2 miles away in a house will it go that far |
Answer: | There is NEVER an exact range for radio communication. The FCC rules require that CB's put out no more than 4 watts. I have accidentally talked to a guy in New Zealand from Ventura, CA and also from there to Florida. Other times you can't talk across town with the same radio. In your situation, if the two of you are in rooms with windows that face each other you can probably talk with two of these radios and no outside antenna. But put a small magnet mount outside your window, on a pizza pan (steel) and run a wire from your pizza pan to your radio and connect it to the outside of the antenna connection and now you have an ok base station antenna and ground plain, and will be able to talk much further. |
Question: | Has anyone used the uniden pro401hh? if so what do you think of it. what is the range of the device and do you think it would work in the woods |
Answer: | I have used this. In an open field was able to get .4 miles. I have not been in the woods yet. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you this in the btech gmrs-50x |
Answer: | ITS A 100% ORIGINAL SEIKO(TURTLE) WATCH.REAL NICE |
Question: | When they say *38" whip* are they referring to the entire antenna, from the NMO mount plate to the tip of the antenna, or just the top element |
Answer: | No, they are not. They claim to be on their Amazon seller page, which shouldn't be allowed. Seiko does not have their business name, address, or legal business name (Sw Tech Distributors LLC) anywhere in its list of Authorized Dealers. The warranty card is blank, not stamped. |
Question: | Can you use a full size mag with this antenna |
Answer: | You have to look on the dial. Mine was made in Japan, but these watches could also be made in Malaysia. |
Question: | Does this antenna have a spring to slow it to bend |
Answer: | I would assume so. I am definitely not an expert on watches though. The QC on under $1k Seiko's never seems particularly strong on the bezel. I own two Seiko 5's and the bezel is the issue on both of those too. My SRPC44 bezel is a little tinny and out of alignment. But I don't use it for diving and the mechanics of the watch are strong so it doesn't bother me too much. Really depends on your level of caring. Hope this helps. |
