User questions & answers
Question: | Is this firestik tip light compatible |
Answer: | The tip is the adjustment screw covered by a rubber cap so you can "match" it to your radio. I don't belive you can put a light on it, it definitely does not come with one on it. |
Question: | is this a self grounding antenna |
Answer: | The FL3-B antenna "requires a chassis grounded mount and horizontal metal ground plane (counterpoise)" to effectively transmit. Firestik does make a No-Ground-Plane needed version of this antenna. It is available as a kit in 3 or 4 foot lengths (models LG3-M2 or LG4-M2). The No-Ground-Plane variation must be used with the Firestik NGP (No-Ground-Plane) coax cable supplied in the kit. These NGP kits may be mounted to any surface such as metal, wood, fiberglass, plastic, etc. You do not have to provide a ground plane, nor is it necessary to chassis ground the mount of a Firestik NGP antenna. |
Question: | So what exactly is included in the package? Is it just the antenna or does this include the antenna and spring |
Answer: | Just antenna. Order spring extra. |
Question: | What kind of range are you getting with this |
Answer: | Your range is very dependant on many other factors, but when setup right about 5 miles with good trajectory to your buddies. Dont cheap out on a radio, cobra 29ltd or galaxy 959 i would recomend, then turn the mod all the way up on them, its very very worth it, these two radios are great for this and power out very well |

PURPOSE: The FGX-648 (where X = antenna length in feet) series, 'No ground plane" (NGP) CB antenna kits were specifically designed to solve the problems associated with the lack of ground plane. This normally occurs on vehicles constructed of plastic, fiberglass, wood or aluminum. Ground plane problems typically show up in the form of high standing wave ratio (SWR) and poor performance. The isolated ground plane that is built into the FGX-648 series kits can also eliminate problems on metal base vehicles that lack the sufficient ground plane for proper operation.
COMPONENT INFORMATION:
ANTENNA: The antennas used in these kits is altered in order to maintain a desirable center band position when used with the tuned coaxial feedline. Accordingly, these antennas may only be used with the Firestik NGP cable. The antenna used in these kits have our patented "no tools required" tunable tip for fast and easy SWR adjustments. The rated wattage for these kits is 100 watts.
COAXIAL FEEDLINE: The seventeen-foot (5.2 M) coaxial cable used in these kits is of the highest quality. We use a multi-wire stranded center conductor to the prevent breakage that can occur with solid center conductor cable. The coaxial feedline serves as a tuned circuit that creates the necessary counterpoise. If a longer cable length is required, the user may add standard RG-58 A/U cable between the radio and system cable, preferably in lengths that are multiples of nine feet. Because it is a tuned circuit, the length cannot be reduced without causing non-repairable damage.
MOUNT, SPRING AND HARDWARE: To compliment the quality of the antenna and feedline, the mount used in these kits is our stainless steel, 3-way 90° angle mount. A stainless steel spring with machined brass ends acts as the coupling between the antenna and the feedline.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES: Each kit includes a FREE microphone hanger.
User questions & answers
Question: | Can i use this antenna with a firestic magnet mount and put on a metal roof |
Answer: | No because CB radios need a good ground. They make specific ones for CB's. |
Question: | Will this antenna work with my cobra 29ltd |
Answer: | It should be fine. The antenna cable to cb fitting is the same as for any other cb. |
Question: | I'm looking to purchase the Midland 75-822 portable. Will this antenna provide for better range |
Answer: | Any antenna designed as an external antenna for the CB band frequencies will provide better transmit and receive range. However the antenna you described is meant for vehicles and other applications that do not provide ground planes like boats and fiberglass campers or trailers. That antenna has a dedicated coax cable that comes with a built in gamma matching section near the antenna of the cable. It is intended for use as a compromise to get around the missing ground plane of non metallic vehicles. I guess it also work fairly mounted on the eve of a house. If you’re looking to use it on a car or truck I’d go with a magnetic mount style antenna instead like a K-40 type, Wilson 1000 or 5000 or something like that. |
Question: | How flexible is the antenna? I want to mount to the roof of my wrangler but will need to tie it down when driving to avoid low clearance obstacles |
Answer: | If you are mounting it on the roof, then you will probably have to take it off. It is flexible but no so much that you could tie it flat. Mine sticks up about 3 feet above the roof and it will bend under obstacles. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Scratch the last question...which antenna is better this one or a 4 foot firefly |
Answer: | I personally don't like the fiberglass antennas they seem to brake Easey .. trees, freezing rain etc.... the wilsons will last a long time I had one on a truck for over 800,000 before I finally broke it... dual wips will hear better than a single Wilson but the Wilson will get out farther |
Question: | Will this screw into a hand held with a 3/8 thread |
Answer: | This antenna will not fit a hand held radio. It's a 4 ft antenna. |
Question: | Can i screw this into my magnetic tram mount |
Answer: | Yes, Same size and thread as this https://www.amazon.com/Tram-Magnet-Mount-Antenna-Black/dp/B013HHINDS I'd check SWR before use. |
Question: | What is the total length after installed |
Answer: | About 5ft. I put a 10" base on mine for clearance so this one is going to be shorter... say, 4ft 8in... |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it a fold down antenna |
Answer: | Thank customer question - Not supported, we do not recommend the use of the buckle on the car bracket, It is easy to cause the phone to fall off, Causes damage to the screen. Other ring buckles support use, just a selling point, without considering mobile phone security issues. |
Question: | How do I get this in white |
Answer: | It needs a design like a hook. |
Question: | Anyone using this for AM reception? The color is great |
Answer: | hello i stuck mines to plastic which works perfect, i have not tried leather .. But it has great sticking power. dont put in center of the phone , use lower bottom. |
Question: | Does this include the mounting bracket as well |
Answer: | No it will not. It folds down not pops. So there’s no lip to slide into a car mount |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this operate at 27MHz |
Answer: | No mounting bracket is included. I used Firestik bracket SS294a to mount two whips in my stake pockets. Antennas still look and work great after two years of rain, snow, and sun. |
Question: | Can you spray paint this antenna a different color without effecting it's performance in reception ? Thanks |
Answer: | Yes, it works for any type of iPhone. The high-viscosity adhesive makes the phone ring attach to your phone firmly for a very secure grip. |
Question: | How many watts is this one |
Answer: | Mine arrived on the day they said it would. |
Question: | Will this work with a Midland 75-822 hand held combo |
Answer: | 4 come in one package. |
Question: | Does this come with hardware |
Answer: | It obviously adds a little width to the phone, but I have not had any problems putting my phone in or taking it out of my pockets with this added. |
Question: | Will the heavy duty spring keep this antenna from breaking? It will be mounted on top of a mirror on a semi truck |
Answer: | Yes they are durable I also bought a socket and was disappointed it because it didn’t stick. The ring holder sticks very well. I love it! |
Question: | Would these antenna be strong enough for a cobra 29 lx 40-channel cb |
Answer: | For me personally each ring holder lasts about 3-6 months depending on how much I twist & play with the ring. Since it's a 4-pack, even on the low end of 3 months per ring, that's buying a pack a year, which doesn't seem too bad. $5.99 a year to be able to hold my phone better (especially when I'm lying in bed it helps the phone not fall on my face lol). |
Question: | How do I connect this to a cb radio |
Answer: | Thank customer question - Please don't worry, please contact us through the order, we will arrange a new product delivery for you again. |
