| Answer: | Pretty much most of all of the counter top ice makers are the same. They use a blast of frozen air to freeze the water. You put water in the basin to the fill line, the water is pulled from the basin with the amount of water to make a batch of ice. If you use the ice maker daily then it's pretty much just using the water you put in the basin. If you only use it occasionally the water is sitting in the ice maker and gets stale. If your turning your ice maker off in between using it the water becomes stale and you may get a film build up as you would with sitting water. there is no cleaning system in any of these counter top ice makers. There's a plug either underneath or on the side to empty the water from the ice maker. I take a damp paper towel and wipe off the inside about every few months. Note: when you get the ice maker you should take a damp paper towel with a small amount on dishwashing soap to clean the inside, then rinse it out (I put mine in the sink with the plug open and pour water from a pitcher through the inside) because the ice will taste like plastic and if you don't rinse the soap out the ice will taste like soap. Make sure you don't get water on the outside and never clean it while it's plugged in. I hope this is helpful. |
