Answer:	One end has a small opening about 1/2" that is the end the water comes out. The other end screws on to the garden hose. Let the water run out about 1 minute before filling up the hot tub. Before putting away the filter I always shake out any water inside the filter and blow some air through filter and shake it one last time. PS I use the filter to wash my car and dry it with a chamise cloth no water spots on my car.
