Answer:	Hi, ION Audio support here! Thanks for your question. Our Premier LP will connect to your Mac as a class compliant device and is suitable to use as a sound card on Mac OS 10.15 (Catalina). At this time, the supplied software (EZ Vinyl Tape Converter) is not yet supported on Catalina. With this said, workarounds of capturing and converting your records can be achieved with Apples free software GarageBand. How long does Vinyl Motion's battery last?

Vinyl Motion has a built-in lithium ion battery which should last about 4 hours after a full charge.

 

How do I charge Vinyl Motion's battery?

Vinyl Motion includes a USB cable which can be used to charge the battery. Connect the USB cable to a computer or a USB wall adapter (not included) to provide power to Vinyl Motion and charge the battery. 

NOTE: While Vinyl motion does not include a USB wall adapter, chances are you already own one. These are often included with mobile phones, tablets, e-readers, and other personal electronic devices.

 

I have Vinyl Motion plugged into my stereo but it sounds distorted. Is there a way to improve the output?

The RCA outputs on the back of Vinyl Motion are LINE outputs and should only be plugged into LINE level inputs. On your stereo, these might be labeled as AUX, CD, or TAPE inputs. Do not plug the RCA outputs into PHONO inputs. Vinyl Motion has a built-in preamp that will be too loud for PHONO inputs and will sound distorted or may cause damage.

 

Why doesn't the light on the front of Vinyl Motion doesn't come on while I'm using it?

The charge light will only come on when Vinyl Motion is plugged into USB and charging. As soon as the battery is full or Vinyl Motion is unplugged, the charge light will go out.

 

My records are hitting the bottom of the cover during playback. Is my Vinyl Motion defective? Should my platter be higher?

Always use the included slipmat. Vinyl Motion includes an 8" felt slipmat that should always be placed between the platter and your records. Without the slipmat, your records may sit too low and hit the bottom of the cover.

 

What can I do if I lose or misplace my slipmat?

You can replace the slipmat with any 7-8" felt slipmat. You can also order a replacement directly from ION Audio by contacting support.

Can I use Vinyl Motion to convert my records to digital?

Yes! Vinyl Motion includes EZ Vinyl & Tape Converter, which allows you to record your records directly to your computer so that you can convert them to MP3.

What is the Aux input on Vinyl Motion used for?

You can plug any source into the Aux input to hear it through Vinyl Motion's speakers or to convert it to digital. For instance, if you have a cassette collection that you'd like to convert to MP3, you can plug your tape player into Vinyl Motion's Aux input and record using EZ Vinyl & Tape Converter.

Answer:	Yes, that is typical with most turntables, some being louder than others. Since the sound comes from the vibrations of the needle on the record, you can hear some sound produced right from the cartridge and tonearm before it's run through the amplifier. This effect does seem quite a bit louder on this turntable than any other I've owned.

I would like to order a new stylus. Where can I get one?

The Select LP utilizes a high-quality Audio Technica AT3600L stylus and magnetic cartridge which can be found at various third-party retail locations online.  They can also be ordered directly from ION Audio by calling 1-401-659-3743 ext. 1406.

 

Can I use a 78 RPM record with this turntable?

Absolutely!  However, we recommend obtaining a 78 RPM stylus to be used with your 78 RPM records.  ION Audio utilizes a a high-quality Audio Technica AT3600 78 RPM stylus and magnetic cartridge which can be found at various third-party retail locations online.   

 

The audio from the stereo speakers I connected is coming out distorted. How can I fix it?

If you have connected speakers to the Select LP using the RCA Audio Output connections, do NOT connect the RCA cables to a Phono input as this could damage your speakers.  Ensure that you connect them to a line-level input such as AUX, CD, or TAPE.

 

What do I do if I am hearing a hum through my speaker or laptop when using the turntable? 

If you are recording to a laptop:

• Please connect the laptop to a grounded power supply (3 prong). 

If you are playing through a speaker:

• Ensure you are using the 12V DC 1A pin-positive power adapter that was included with your product. 
• If your volume is on max, try turning it down until the hum stops. 

 

My record is not playing at the correct speed; its pitch is too high or too low. 

First, ensure the 33 / 45 / 78 switch is set to the correct speed for your record.

If the 33 / 45 / 78 switch is set correctly and the speed it still slightly off, do the following:

1. On the underside of Select LP, find the rubber pad with the RPM speed you want to adjust, and gently lift up the rubber pad to remove it.
2. For the 45 and 33 RPM setting, push through the rubber seal, and tighten/loosen the screw using a Phillips-head screwdriver to fine-tune the RPM speed. 
3. For the 78 RPM setting, tighten/loosen the screw using a flat-head screwdriver.

 

Is the turntable powered by the USB port? 

No.  The Select LP is powered with the included 12V DC 1A pin-positive power supply.

 

My record is skipping. What should I do?

If the record is skipping, try cleaning the record directly using standard LP cleaning techniques. For some materials that can help with the cleaning of your vinyl, you can find the VINYL ALIVE Record Cleaning Kit on the ION Audio website. If the record continues to skip, consider replacing the.

Question:	Why doesn'tmy player work on Windows 10? I've downloaded thr sofeware update but still nothing
Answer:	I had the same issue. After getting the Windows 10 update from Ion, I also had to update the driver for my Creative Sound Card. Then go to the control panel, select SOUND, and make sure that your turntable is the RECORDING device and NOT the PLAYBACK device. Select your speakers or line in/out.... or whatever sound card you have installed that you use for things like Windows Media Player or other apps that need sound.
Question:	I have one of these and damaged the needle. what kind should i get to replace it? will audio technica atn3600l replacement work
Answer:	I can't answer this one. I originally purchased the Select LP, but it had a defective needle/cartridge upon receipt. I sent it back and purchased the LP Max. I do know that the specs from the cartridge are not that great, so I'd go with the ION recommended replacement. The needles come in a blister pack of 2 needles. Contact the customer service for ION for the best help.
Question:	Does the Ion turntable include the 78 rpm stylus
Answer:	No, the stylus that came with the unit plays 33 1/3, 45 and 78 (with adapter for 45) records. The stylus is a Audio-Technica model ATN3600L. I am no expert... but seems to work fine for me an all the above records. The owners manual also says it plays and records the the above records speeds. It is really easy to convert to CD format. Hope this info helps.

Move the tonearm back and forth from the resting point to the center of the turntable and back, 5-10 times. Try again. It should begin to spin with the tonearm over the record after moving the it 5-10 times. If you continue to experience difficulties, contact ION Audio Technical Support.

 

Is the belt replaceable?

Question:	Does the turntable play 78's
Answer:	You need a special kind of needle in addition to a turntable with the correct speed. 78 rpm records are made out of shellac, more fragile than vinyl and will be damaged by standard needles, and have a different-sized groove than 45 or 33. Also if you have mono vinyl records, many of them from before about 1960 have a different-sized groove than stereo records or the newer mono groove size. I sure hope you see this before finding out by accident.
Question:	Can I connect this turntable to a Smart tv or soundbar? I'm trying and nothing is working, but I can barely hear it through the turntable itself
Answer:	I don't know, but can you connect it to your computer, then connect the computer to the TV? I think it might need the software that comes with it, which you would only be able to have on a computer. Alternatively, you could record all the songs to mp3's, then just play the mp3 files.

Answer:	Yes it comes with a CD software to install in your PC, besides You must connect the turntable to an amplifier or record player in order to listen music while recording. attention with the needle is too delicate , in fact mine is broken an i had to request for a new one

Answer:	You can use this as a regular turntable, as well as use it to transfer music. You can hear the music when you transfer.

Answer:	Its a vinyl/tape converter. It has speed control for 33 and 45s. It works as a standard record player and you play it through your computer and its usually possible to change the settings for the pitch on your computer for any sound device.
Question:	is the ion TTUSB turntable compatible with windows
Answer:	It really does not matter. As I have said to many people, I cannot recommend this machine. It's is a light plastic turntable with a weak belt drive that quickly stretched out in fatigue. It distorts like crazy. Customer service is nonexistent and a replacement belt (picture a long rubber band) costs over $20 plus shipping if you can find one.
Question:	This turntable is running too fast (33.3 rpm is actually 36 rpm) how do I slow it down
Answer:	sorry...but I only had the turntable for a couple of days and then returned it...it was a piece of garbage...so I really don't know how to slow it down...I would return it or throw it out...it's not good for anything else...
