Here are some key features and aspects of audiophile turntables:
High-Quality Components: Audiophile turntables are built using premium materials and components to minimize vibrations and resonance. They often feature heavy, non-resonant plinths, precision tonearms, and high-quality bearings.
Precision Engineering: These turntables are designed with meticulous attention to detail, including precise speed control mechanisms to ensure accurate and consistent playback speed (33 1/3 and 45 RPM).
Isolation and Vibration Control: Audiophile turntables often incorporate advanced isolation and vibration control technologies to minimize interference and noise. This includes the use of heavyweight platters, isolation feet, and suspension systems.
High-Quality Cartridges: The choice of cartridge can significantly impact sound quality. Audiophile turntables are often compatible with a wide range of high-end cartridges, allowing users to select one that suits their preferences.
Adjustable Tonearms: Many audiophile turntables feature adjustable tonearms, allowing users to fine-tune tracking force, anti-skate, and other parameters to achieve optimal playback.
Belt-Drive vs. Direct-Drive: Belt-drive turntables are popular in the audiophile community due to their reduced motor noise and lower vibration transmission. However, some direct-drive turntables designed for audiophiles are also available, with advanced motor systems to minimize unwanted vibrations.
Upgradability: Audiophile turntables are often designed to be upgradable, allowing users to swap out components like cartridges, tonearms, and phono preamps to further enhance sound quality.
Vinyl Playback Accessories: Audiophiles often invest in additional accessories like high-quality phono preamplifiers (phono stages), isolation platforms, and high-end interconnect cables to optimize their turntable setups.
Attention to Aesthetics: Many audiophile turntables feature elegant and stylish designs, often with high-quality finishes and attention to detail in craftsmanship.
Price Range: Audiophile turntables can vary significantly in price, ranging from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars or more. The price often reflects the quality of components, build, and overall performance.
Listening Experience: Audiophile turntables are designed to provide a rich and immersive listening experience, reproducing the warmth and depth of analog vinyl records with a high degree of fidelity.
In summary, audiophile turntables are designed with meticulous attention to detail, using high-quality components and engineering to deliver a superior vinyl listening experience. User questions & answers
Question: | I can’t buy the green satin nor the blue satin through Amazon. Will they be available any time soon |
Answer: | I’d recommend for you to look for a reputable seller on the page the turntable is on and contact them to post them on Amazon or buy directly from them should they have them available. |
Question: | Hi! i bought audio engine 2 plus speakers for this turntable. are these compatible with the turntable? are others recommended? thank you |
Answer: | Thanks for your question. The Audioengine 2+ powered speakers are compatible with the EVO but will require ADDING a Phono Preamp (Pro-Ject Phono Box MM Phono Preamp with Line Output) between the phono outputs on the EVO and the INPUTS on the 2+ speakers. World Wide Stereo is 42 years old and a proud authorized Pro-Ject and Audioengine dealer. |
Question: | Does the project debut evo come in satin green |
Answer: | Yes the evo does come in a green finish. |
Question: | I'm looking for a machine to play my 33s and my old wax 78s. I'm not too demanding other than semi simple to use. Would this machine be good |
Answer: | I'm doing research now, and I disagree with the other answer - it can handle 78s. It comes with a different belt you'd have to attach which must drive it faster, then they also recommend a separate 78 cartridge which I'm assuming is so the 78s don't destroy your normal stylus. |
Product features
Improved motor suspension
The Debut Carbon EVO features our new designed motor suspension. We have improved the old design to consistently reduce the vibrations better than before.
Adjustable TPE-damped isolation feet
The new Debut Carbon Evo stands on three height adjustable damped aluminium feet to get the perfect stand.
Massive TPE-damped steel record platter
We added a TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) ring on the inside of the platter. The result is an even quieter and noiseless operation with less wow and flutter.
Electronic speed changer & stabilizer
The rocker switch on the buttom of the turntable allows you to change speeds with the push of only a single button.
Factory mounted and aligned Sumiko Rainier phono cartridge
The Rainier offers a replaceable stylus that can be easily upgraded to a Sumiko Olympia (or even a Moonstone!) in a matter of seconds.
8,6 inch carbon tonearm
The new Debut Carbon EVO features the proven 8,6‘‘ one piece Carbon tonearm design. The super stiff, but lightweight tonearm delivers an insane sound quality with a convincing sound stage.
Gold platet output sockets
The signal from the Rainier is transmitted via a single run of high quality copper wiring direct to high quality RCA connectors with a completely separate ground, preserving the balanced signal from the cartridge output.
Semi-balanced RCA phono cable
The Debut Carbon EVO is supplied with our Connect It E: a semi-balanced, low-capacitance cable with superior shielding designed specifically to carry the delicate phono signal.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this sit comfortably on a 15" deep shelf |
Answer: | Sorry I did not read your question until now. It measures 16.5 inches end to end. The 12 inch description is probably referring to the grabbable length. |
Question: | Can you close the lid while playing records |
Answer: | The Bathtub rail can be used on fiberglass tubs. Use caution and do not over-tighten to prevent possible damage to the tub. PLEASE NOTE: This bathtub rail is designed to assist with balance and stability when entering and exiting the bathtub. It is NOT designed for full body weight lifting. |
Question: | Can you buy an attachment that allows you to stack more records to automatically drop and play |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. The clamp in order to be secured properly needs to sit on a flat surface. So I'd image the track from the sliding door would be an issue. In addition you'd be limited in using the door itself. |
Question: | Can I use my headphones instead of speakers |
Answer: | It's adjustable...no "cutting" needed. Made of steel. |

This red suede leather turntable mat is designed to enhance the sound of your turntable. Fitting over the center spindle and sitting comfortably on a 12" platter, the mat is designed to offer a better playback surface than the felt or cork alternatives. This mat will provide an upgrade to standard felt mats and improve the sound of your favorite records by dampening resonance and lowering overall noise and static. How does a leather slipmat do all this? Turntable mats have been always a big discussion on how they influence the sound. The interaction between the record and the surface can be tracked very easily by the super sensitivity of a good pick up cartridge. Common felt mats give a smooth contact between record and platter but has the disadvantage with static. That means that felt mats often collect a lot of dust which can be then transferred to the record. Also the damping ability is very limited which can be a problem with metal platters. Thick rubbermats over damp the record and have an isolation effect which leaves the static on the record and hearable noise clicks are the result. Leather and Cork are two different, but very interesting options to upgrade the sound quality. Resonances are dampened more effectively than felt, and they keep dust away and avoid static. What is better depends on taste and the actual platter design. A very cost effective way to improve the sound and have less noise by static and dust.
- Red suede leather construction, Diameter: 12", Thickness: 2mm, Weight: 5.2 oz
- Improves dynamic range
- Dampens resonance from metal turntables
- Less noise, avoids static load
- Can be used on any turntable with 12" platter

User questions & answers
Question: | What color is the mat |
Answer: | dark brown looks good |
Question: | Thickness in millimeters |
Answer: | Around 3 mm |
Question: | What is the exact thickness |
Answer: | 3mm thick |
Question: | Does anyone know the exact diameter |
Answer: | 17.48 mm or 11 13/16 inches |
Question: | Does this sit on top the rubber mat that came with my record player, or just totally in place of |
Answer: | Replaces it. Should sit on top of the metal platter. FYI type of mat impacts sound quality. I bought this because my original was old and needed replacing - it was expelling an oily substance that would ruin my records. It was rubber and I preferred its sound over this new acrylic one, which is still good and in my price range. It is all a matter of preferences - I feel rubber gives better bass. This is not a slip mat used by DJs for back que and scratching. |

User questions & answers
Question: | is it safe to use a stabilizer weight in conjunction with this mat, being as it has the recessed center? will it cause warping of the vinyl record |
Answer: | I have had no issues using stabilizer weight with older and newer vinyl. However the mat is not 100% effective at eliminating static. |
Question: | What's the diameter |
Answer: | It is the exact size of an LP...which makes it difficult to take the album off. I've abandoned it and went back to a felt mat, which is slightly undercut. |
Question: | How do you install this? Do you remove the rubber platter cover |
Answer: | yes - this replaces the rubber matte on top of the matel platter. |
Question: | What is the diameter of this mat |
Answer: | I measure 11 11/16 inches OD. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I plug this turntable into powered speakers and have sound or do I need a receiver |
Answer: | You can use it in both ways. |
Question: | I have always owned belt drive turntables. I have read that direct drive can be noisy. How is this one as far as rumble |
Answer: | My previous turntable was a very nice AR belt drive table, and I had the same concern about direct drive rumble. Not any more. The AT-LP120XUSB is dead silent. It sounds incredible. |
Question: | So, since this turntable has a built in preamp, does this mean I can use passive speakers? Or do I need powered speakers |
Answer: | No. You'll need powered speakers or you'll need to plug it into an amp to use passive speakers. "Preamp" = pre (before) amplifier. Preamps and phono amps take the very low signal from the stylus and amplify it to a level that an amplifier can use. AND (the reason record players need phono-specific preamps instead of a standard preamp) the preamp/phonoamp also decodes the RIAA format that all albums since the 1950s use, which is proprietary and needs a specific type of decoding to play the music. |
Question: | Ok,..in plain english,...can i plug this tt into external speakers? that's all i want it for. if yes,...what type of speakers |
Answer: | Yes you can... The turntable has a built-in preamp. You want to buy powered speakers. They sell tons of them now. The best I have heard were KRK powered speakers. To get a good idea of what’s available, check out the needledoctor or crutchfield websites. |

- SOLID WOOD PLINTH - Revel in the gorgeous solid wood cabinet and adjustable resonance damping feet, ensuring superior isolation from unwanted micro-vibrations (Note: phono preamp not included)
User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference between fluance rt84 and fluance rt |
Answer: | I am confused by some of the responses as from my research, the RT84 is about $115 less, not $50, and BOTH TTs have the Ortofon Blue, which is really hard to believe with the Fluance RT84 being under 385 bux!!!! That is even less than the renowned Pro-Ject Debut Carbon with the much less expensive (but also great) Ortofon Red cartridge. The only difference I can see is the heavier Acrylic platter on the 85 versus aluminum on the 84, and thus about a 2 pound weight difference on the two TTs. Maybe that is worth the extra $115 bux that I am seeing in the pricing right now, don't know. Definitely a good upgrade tho. |
Question: | Does this turntable have a dial where the rpm speed of the platter can be tuned or "dialed in" to perfect speed |
Answer: | No, the speed is controlled by: Precision Playback with Motor Isolation and Speed Control The servo-controlled belt drive motor with speed regulating optical sensor, continuously measures and adjusts variances in linear velocity and acceleration within a few hundredths of a percent for a wow and flutter of 0.07%. The decoupling of the drive from the plinth suppresses motor vibrations and noise from reaching the stylus. This maintains accurate speed and significantly reduces rumble so your records sound perfect. |
Question: | What is the size of the box (package) from RT |
Answer: | According to Fluance, the shipping dimensions for the RT85 are 8.25 x 17.5 x 19.5 inches (H x L x W). The weight is 20 lbs. |
Question: | Full auto |
Answer: | I have the RT85 and Yes, it has auto stop. There is a switch on the back of the turntable so you can choose auto stop or just let the album keep spinning when the stylus reaches the inner groove. This is really cool for the handful of albums that have something in the inner groove. A few examples are- The Beatles Sgt Pepper, Side 4 of The Eagles live, Ringo The 4th. They just keep going... |

Pure Analog Performance
The Reference turntable delivers a warm, uncompressed listening experience, allowing you to get lost in the music. With no electronics in the signal path, from stylus tip to the gold-plated RCA outputs, for an exceptionally pure sound.
Ortofon 2M Blue Cartridge for Spectacular Accuracy
Beautiful playback from the nude elliptical 2M Blue cartridge featuring a rich, elegant, and natural sound. Adding greater dynamics and resolution, reproducing more detail while maintaining a flat frequency response for a pure sound without any coloration.
Clarity in the Sound with the Acrylic Platter
The high density and greater mass of the acrylic provide increased inertia to achieve a consistent speed, while damping unwanted vibrations by trapping and dissipating the energy. Acrylic has an analogous resonant frequency to vinyl records to aid in the cancellation of undesirable reverberations resulting in a 3-dimensional soundstage with improved bass definition, a richer midrange, and greater signal clarity.
Precision Playback with Motor Isolation and Speed Control
The servo-controlled belt drive motor with speed regulating optical sensor, continuously measures and adjusts variances in linear velocity and acceleration within a few hundredths of a percent for a wow and flutter of 0.07%. The decoupling of the drive from the plinth suppresses motor vibrations and noise from reaching the stylus. This maintains accurate speed and significantly reduces rumble so your records sound perfect.
Solid Wood Plinth For Superior Resistance to Vibrations
The mass-loaded multi-layered wood chassis inhibits the transfer of unwanted resonance through the system. The 3 rubber, spike-type adjustable isolation feet minimize surface contact under the turntable resulting in immunity to environmental vibrations, for greater low frequency signal pickup and improved imaging.

User questions & answers
Question: | will arm return at end of album |
Answer: | no |
Question: | Do I need speakers for this item |
Answer: | You will need speakers and an amplifier or receiver. |
Question: | is this fully analog or does it convert to digital |
Answer: | Fully analog. |
Question: | What are the differences between this and the LP120X |
Answer: | The main differences are the MDF 40WN vs plastic plinth 120x, belt drive 40WN vs direct drive 120x, and the carbon fiber upgraded tone arm of the 40WN vs a low end tone arm 120x. Also theres no mention of there being a speed monitoring system for the motor of the 120x. The 120x has a plinth mounted led and a USB output that the 40WN doesn't if that's important. To sum it all up if your aim is to listen to records casually, you dont really care about the hifi, and you have no interest in upgrading the stylus cartridge then the 120x isnt a bad choice. Yes the 120x has the VM cartridges just the same as the 40WN but the tone arm of the 120x would need to be upgraded to really benefit from the change of the cartridge. Also you run into the possible motor vibration issues of direct drive that can affect the sound vs a usually preferred belt drive which isolates the turntable from the motor vibration. My opinion is to spend the extra $ and get the better turntable, the 40WN is much better looking to my taste as well. |
