User questions & answers
Question: | Can I plug this turntable into powered speakers and have sound or do I need a receiver |
Answer: | You can use it in both ways. |
Question: | I have always owned belt drive turntables. I have read that direct drive can be noisy. How is this one as far as rumble |
Answer: | My previous turntable was a very nice AR belt drive table, and I had the same concern about direct drive rumble. Not any more. The AT-LP120XUSB is dead silent. It sounds incredible. |
Question: | So, since this turntable has a built in preamp, does this mean I can use passive speakers? Or do I need powered speakers |
Answer: | No. You'll need powered speakers or you'll need to plug it into an amp to use passive speakers. "Preamp" = pre (before) amplifier. Preamps and phono amps take the very low signal from the stylus and amplify it to a level that an amplifier can use. AND (the reason record players need phono-specific preamps instead of a standard preamp) the preamp/phonoamp also decodes the RIAA format that all albums since the 1950s use, which is proprietary and needs a specific type of decoding to play the music. |
Question: | Ok,..in plain english,...can i plug this tt into external speakers? that's all i want it for. if yes,...what type of speakers |
Answer: | Yes you can... The turntable has a built-in preamp. You want to buy powered speakers. They sell tons of them now. The best I have heard were KRK powered speakers. To get a good idea of what’s available, check out the needledoctor or crutchfield websites. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I load my albums into itunes |
Answer: | You bet --- once you digitize your albums and have them in MP3 format, you can import the into iTunes as you would any other music. |
Question: | Can I play a record to my computer and burn a cd, also does the software come with this unit. Thankyou |
Answer: | Once you've transferred the vinal to digital you can burn a cd or use it the way any digital items are used. The software is a separate FREE download. The instructions are included. |
Question: | Will I be able to transfer music to my iTunes library |
Answer: | Richard, generally, as I understand it, yes. You will be able to record your records to your PC hard drive. From there, you can convert your music files to whatever formats you prefer. For iTunes, I believe you can import them into iTunes and iTunes will automatically convert them to iTunes format as you import them. If there is a more direct method to record them to iTunes, I'm not aware of it. Hope this helps! Skip |
Question: | My husband just received this turntable as a Christmas gift. Any recommendations for a receiver that is compatible? Our old receiver is broken |
Answer: | Basically any receiver/amp will work with this unit as long as the inputs are RCA jacks and that's pretty much all of them. Here's how it breaks down. All turntables require a pre-amp before the signal goes to the main amplifier. Most modern receivers do not have a dedicated slot for turntables any longer. So most turntables include the pre-amp built in. The switch for the pre-amp is on the back of the Audio Technica.* So if your receiver has a setting for "Phonograph", "Phono" or "Turntable" you're good to go. Just switch the pre-amp Off on the back of the turntable.* If your receiver doesn't have a setting for "Phonograph", or one of the a fore mentioned, then turn the switch On. That's it. Simple. Just be aware that should you buy a receiver without a "Phonograph" input you will loose the slot for whatever peripheral should go there. In my case I use an Onkyo CR-315 Shelf Unit. I plug my Audio Tecnica into the "Dock" slot. This is to be used with a special docking device that allows you to plug in an iPod. I know longer have this device, so no harm no fowl. If however I did have this device and needed to use it, I would constantly be switching between these two devices on my receiver. So just make sure you have enough inputs to avoid this potential hassle.Really, the only thing you need to look for on a receiver is to make sure it excepts inputs through RCA jacks and again, that's pretty much the standard. As to brand, that's up to you as far as your needs and budget. |
Question: | Any recommendations for speakers i can hook directly into the rca jack? i want something with great sound that is similar to a portable speaker |
Answer: | Hi, Mine speakers' sound is great. you can buy with the link:https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Udreamer+Bookshelf+Speaker&me=A20PPATB6ITV8T&ref=nb_sb_noss&field-asin=B07XMND1QS |
Question: | Is there any way to tell if it is recording? i have tried fat32 usbs (as cust svc indicated) and an sd card-nothing. i don't know if it is recording |
Answer: | I wondered the same thing. I haven't used it lately, but I remember a blinking icon when it was recording. I'll set mine up and look again. |
Question: | does this convert cassette to mp3 files |
Answer: | Hi, it could convert cassette tape to mp3 file. |
Question: | can you record from the tape |
Answer: | Yes, you can play your favorite cassettes and record them to a USB/FlashDrive. Note, if you want to have separate tracks, you will need to press record before and after each song; otherwise you will just have 1 long track that includes all songs on one side of the tape. Hopefully that answers your question! You can do the same to record to flashdrive from the radio or vinyl record. I have not tried recording from bluetooth or AUX to a flashdrive, but I imagine the process would be about the same. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this come with recording software |
Answer: | Recording software? This is a record player not a recording device |
Question: | Does it have a lifting arm? You know, so that you could lift the record arm without scratching the record |
Answer: | Hello. Yes, it has a lifting arm. the buttons on the front with do the trick. |
Question: | So this doesn't have a regular Phono out for a receiver with a phono in |
Answer: | Yes it does. Comes with an adapter for you to plug in to your receiver. Has a button on back to switch from line out/phono depending on what you hook up to. Plugged mine into a Sony receiver with a phono in and works great. |
Question: | Sorry, what does 'fully automatic' mean |
Answer: | You don't have to do it this way, but if you want you can put a record on the platter, close the lid, and just hit the Start button. The arm will then move by itself and place the needle on the record automatically. And of course at the end of the record it will return the arm to resting position and stop. I did not think I would use that feature to start my records, but it does work smoothly and I have found myself doing it that way instead of placing the needle onto the record myself. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this fit a Technics SL-B |
Answer: | Yes; it will also fit any other turntable (such as the direct drive models sold under the Audio Technica brand) that use a universal headshell. |
Question: | what are the best cartidge and needle for this headshell |
Answer: | Dan, I purchased the Shure M97xE High-Performance Magnetic Phono Cartridge in 2013. I'm not disappointed. I do a lot of album & 45 transfers, as well as just enjoy putting an album on while working in my shop. I tried others but to my ear this cartridge provided the best reproduction of instruments and voice. I would recommend also getting a Shure SFG-2 Stylus Tracking Force Gauge so you can set the weight up correctly. For $25 the gauge will payback in stylus costs and wear on the media. The cartridge was $70, but I felt it was better than some I tried which were in the hundreds of dollars. - Fred |
Question: | What type of stylus does it use |
Answer: | It takes a 1/2" *cartridge*, which in turn will hold/come with the matching stylus for the cartridge of your choice (as long as you get a 1/2" mount type cartridge). |
Question: | Is the Audio-Technica HS1 Headshell compatible with a AT-95E cartridge |
Answer: | Yes, it is. The at-lp120 turntable comes with this array. |

Question: | Can you use other headphones with this turntable |
Answer: | I use it & likely alot. |
Question: | Powered speakers required to listen |

Question: | How can I turn off the turntable built in speaker? It’s still on even with headphones |
Answer: | I don't know the size of your 2 oz. bottle but the whisk on the stirrer is 7/8 inch in diameter. |
Question: | Is the tonearm replaceable |
Answer: | Afraid not |
Question: | Anyone using for crafts, esp resin |
Answer: | The description is misleading - it is battery operated - it only takes 20-30 seconds to froth your milk or mix your protein shake using a up and down motion on you turn the frothed on. |
Question: | Does this turn OFF after using on low speed or does it cycle thru medium and high (and make a big mess ) when frothing milk for coffee |
Answer: | Yes, IF you can clean off all the resin. |

Based on the AT-LP60X fully automatic belt-drive turntable, the AT-LP60XHP adds an integrated headphone amplifier with a 3.5 mm (1/8") headphone jack and volume control on the front panel, so all you have to do is plug in the included ATH-250AV over-ear headphones (or other headphones of your choice) and start the records spinning.
Audio-Technica ATH-250AV Headphones
Of course, the turntable can also be connected to your stereo, powered speakers, computer or other components and used as a standard turntable. The detachable RCA output cable (3.5 mm male to dual RCA male) and built-in switchable phono preamp allow the turntable be connected to components with and without a dedicated phono input. Like the AT-LP60X, the AT-LP60XHP features a redesigned tonearm base and headshell to improve tracking and reduce resonance. Noise is further reduced by the inclusion of an AC adapter that moves the AC/DC conversion outside of the chassis where its impact on the signal chain is limited.

Audio-Technica's AT-LP120-USB direct-drive, high-torque professional turntable is perfect for DJs and other music enthusiasts, especially in an era that many would call "postvinyl," when it's no longer the norm for audio/video receivers or even integrated amplifiers to offer a dedicated phono input. Connect the Audio Technica ATLP120 to your computer to digitize your old LPs (laptop not included). It also includes a selectable internal stereo phono preamplifier and a USB output that connects directly to your computer-perfect for digitizing your old LPs to high-quality MP3 or FLAC files for playback from your computer. USB cable and adapter cables are included, along with Mac- and PC-compatible Audacity software to digitize your LPs. The AT-LP120's S-shaped tone arm assembly comes with an adjustable counterweight, an antiskate adjustment, a tone-arm height adjustment and lock, a tone-arm lift with hydraulic action and lift lever, and a tone-arm rest with a locking mechanism to keep the arm stable during transport. The turntable uses a DC servo motor to maintain accurate rotational speed at either 33-1/3 45, or 78 rpm, governed by a selectable, high-accuracy quartz-controlled pitch lock-all of which gives new life to 7- and 12-inch singles you may not have played for years. Unleash your inner DJ with the 'table's pitch-adjustment feature, with variations ranging from either +/-10 percent or +/-20 percent. A pop-up stylus target light and stroboscopic platter speed indicator offer visual assistance in queuing and playing your favorite tunes. Forward and reverse play options unlock countless creative doors. The turntable comes with a cast-aluminum record platter, a slip mat, and a professional cartridge and headshell (model AT95E) that plugs directly into the tone arm. Adjustable, antivibrational feet keep the platter level, regardless of your environs. A start/stop button with remote start/stop input lets you integrate the player with your more sophisticated DJ tools. The player also includes a 45 rpm adapter with storage receptacle for the adapter and for a surplus or replacement headshell (sold separately). If the turntable is connected to a sound card, powered speakers or AUX -type inputs, set the selector to LINE, which will activate the turntable’s internal pre-amp

User questions & answers
Question: | Why does this turntable not have a ground connector for an external pre-amp |
Answer: | The AT-LP120-USB has an isolated power supply, so no grounding wire is needed or necessary. The ground between the turntable and your receiver is carried through the outer ring of the RCA connector. |
Question: | Can I plug the turntable into the red and white aux in jacks in the back of my Bose Wave radio? Do I need anything else |
Answer: | The AT-LP120 has a built in pre amp so you can plug into the red and white rca aux. in jacks on the back of your Bose Wave. It is an excellent turntable but look at the owners for instruction regarding the pre amp settings. It will have to be in the on position. |
Question: | Hi I am very new to the whole turntable and vinyl records idea. I am doing a special something this year for Christmas for my father. He has 200+ vinyl records not used in 20+ years and I am looking for a turntable to fit our needs? It is my understanding that this turntable does not have built-in speakers and would ne |
Answer: | Hey Robert, you are correct, this turntable does not have internal speakers. This may seem like a hassle but typically internal speakers aren't very good. What this turntable does have is it's own built in pre-amp. A pre-amp is required to convert the sounds off the record, into any receiver. So since this turntable has a built in pre-amp, it allows you to hook it up directly to speakers, where you'd otherwise need to buy a preamp as well. I couldn't recommend this turntable more. It's the best for it's price range, and I've loved using my own. As far as storage, most record collectors use the Ikea Expedit. It comes in various sizes and the 2x2 and 2x4 models are great for keeping your turntable on top. However, ikea has stopped production on the expedit, though there is a replacement model called the Kallax which is supposedly the same this, just different material. I'd look into it. Hope these suggestions help!Cheers |
Question: | A few people said that for those of us who listen to Classical, the cartridge that is installed is rather S...Y. What do most of you think about this |
Answer: | FYI: Prior to 2013, this turntable shipped with a DJ cartridge/stylus rather than the AT95E it currently ships with. The original cart DJ cart was certainly more susceptible to pickup some rumble as the motor is not as well isolated as some more expensive turntables and this could be an issue with classical records; for pop music the DJ cartridge was acceptable. I don't own an AT95E cartridge but I have other AT current cartridges at a similar price point and they are very good with classical records. |
Question: | Will the arm return and stop the plate at the end of the LP |
Answer: | You can buy a $50 gadget that will lift the tonearm at the end of playing a LP but the table will still spin. It's sold at Music Direct for about $49 and is worth it just in case you forget the record ended or your in the Kitchen cooking :) |
Question: | Best replacement phono cartridge for this unit? anyone |
Answer: | I've always been partial to the Stanton Groovemaster V3. You just have to plug in in, and it's perfectly aligned. You need to balanced it, that's it. It like a sizable amount of pressure to sounds its best. Stanton recommends 2-6 grams. I'd push it all the way to 6 grams. You'll be amazed at the sweet, yet powerful sound. This professional cartridge will compete with others costing much more. I think it's one of the best, and it's perfectly suited for Audio Technica AT-LP 1240. |
Question: | does this come with a headshell |
Answer: | Yeah they do. They don't come with cartridges/needles though. And in that case I recommend the shure m44-7's. |
Question: | I am debating between the Audio Tecnica lp120 vs lp1240. Do you guys have any thoughts. I am a wedding Dj and I CLub Dj sometimes |
Answer: | The specs on the Lp1240 are slightly better, but my final decision was based on the 1240 being quite a bit heavier than the 120 which suggests that the 1240 is more rugged. This might be of special interest to you since you will be carting the TT around to venues. This wouldn't be that important to me since I'm using the TT in a home enviornment to dub LPs to CD. But possibly in the long run the 1240 might have a longer life. |

Question: | power |
Answer: | Hi, this massage device with heat function. You will get relax when you put it on you neck. I use a computer a lot, so I have started using it on a computer sitting in a chair, which provides deep massage to my back and reduces tension. Any pulse massager will produce a slight pain at the beginning of use. The feeling of being charged varies from person to person but it is safe to use. After each massage, I feel very relaxed. It will be a perfect gift for those who complain of neck soreness. All in all, an excellent product. Definitely recommend! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are there instructions for using this turntable with mac that do not include PC stuf that just confuses me |
Answer: | My manual has separate sections for PC and Mac. It would be easy to miss the Mac instructions -- 4 pages in the middle of a 23-page booklet, with all the rest devoted to PC -- but those pages covered everything in Mac-only detail. I bought mine a while ago, and the booklet (and the supplied Audacity program) are out of date. I can't tell you whether an updated manual and program are now included. I can tell you that I updated Audacity on line, for free, and that the settings are in different places than they were in the original version. Similarly, the Mac OS X preferences that you have to set look different than in my copy of the manual. |
Question: | Can i purchase just the software disc? i have this turntable but when my computer crashed and i got a new one, i cannot find the cd that came with it |
Answer: | You can download newer (better) versions of at least some of the software on line. The only thing I use from the disc is the Audacity audio editor, which you can find on Sourceforge (search audacity sourceforge to find the download site). I don't know where you could get the disc itself, but I hope this helps. |
Question: | Since I am Classical Music Lover, only interested in playing my vinyl, no transfers to CD,might I get better sound elsewhere |
Answer: | I use mine just to transfer to MP3's so the quilty is dropped, and this on does work fine for that but.... If you really want quilty the AT-LP120-USB or Pro-Ject Debut Carbon is a better sounding for the low cost Here is a good artical on turntables http://www.crutchfield.com/S-n9AFgf2O75T/learn/learningcenter/home/audio/turntables.htmlGood lock |
Question: | I can't find the usb ouput cable that came with the audio-technica model at-lp20, is there a special size i need to order |
Answer: | You might want to read this at least through the first bullet point. On mine, I use a cable with a B connector (D shaped at one end) called the downstream end. So it's a USB A-to-B cable that you need. https://www.dummies.com/computers/pcs/how-to-identify-the-different-ends-of-a-usb-cable/ BTW, I bought my unit in 2008, so I had to look at my setup as well as the link above to recall.
