User questions & answers
Question: | what are the dimensions of this cd player |
Answer: | You can choose which sensors are used to control the furnace. If you only select one, that sensor will determine the room temp. If you select more than one sensor, the system uses the average to determine when to run the furnace. If you use wireless sensors you can move them around to deal with uneven temps. |
Question: | Is it vented on the top? May I stack it between other devices |
Answer: | I did not need an internet gateway. I use one indoor remote sensor. It was installed in the summer of 2014, and has been working as expected. Maybe newer models have different requirements, though. |
Question: | I am so dumb about all of this -- what is a receiver to connect to rather than speakers |
Answer: | It can support furnaces with as many as 3 stages (installation manual p. 22) |
Question: | Des the cd player rewind or ff SECTIONS of a song, or does it only go track to track |
Answer: | Yes. Please look at page 20 of the product data sheet: https://forwardthinking.honeywell.com/new/68-0312.pdf |

Music lovers rejoice! Those looking for the ultimate in CD playback from an audiophile-grade component will be impressed with a high-precision, multi-bit D/A converter and 128 x oversampling. Others looking for convenience will thrill at the sight of 6-disc capability, 6 repeat modes, 40 track programming—and no worries about interruptions to your music, with the ability to change 5 discs while the last one is still playing. All will marvel at the crystal-clear playback, enhanced by our exclusive VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry), for a smoother sounding audio signal. Just as crucial to your sonic enjoyment is Direct Digital Path, a heavily shielded, high-quality cable that protects the delicate audio signal from noise emitted by the surrounding circuits. Housed in a sturdy chassis graced with a brushed aluminum front panel, the DX-C390 is ready to provide hours of uninterrupted music—for the soundtrack to your life. Key Technology Features: 192 kHz/24bit AD Converters: Costly, extremely powerful digital-to-analog converters , that not only boast a dynamic range of 120 dB, they process information faster and are virtually resistant to clock jitter, to ensure the best possible performance from DVD-Audio, DVD-Video and audio CD.RI (Remote Interactive): With Onkyo’s exclusive RI (Remote Interactive) system capability, you can integrate and operate all compatible components through a single remote control. What’s more, RI capability enables you to simply connect the iPod to your receiver through Onkyo’s RI Dock for the iPod (DS-A1). Your iPod effectively becomes another Onkyo component from which you can relish a fuller sound that just can’t be experienced through headphones. RI capability will also give you remote operability of your iPod for hands-off control over your digital music. VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry): Conventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage but can’t remove it completely. Previously only found on our high-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between sampling points and these points are joined with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. The result — a virtually noiseless, smooth analog signal based on the digital source to bring out even the most subtle of nuances in your music, movie soundtracks and even MP3s. MP3 Playback: This audio format achieves about a 10:1 compression over conventional CD audio. What does this mean? You can store many more songs using the same amount of space. For example, a standard 650MB CD can hold more than 200 songs in MP3 format. Various bitrates allow for higher or lower quality, depending on the desired sound quality of the final recording.

User questions & answers
Question: | regarding onkyo dx c390 - can i discs, press play to hear music or is it necessary to connect speakers? i just opened pkg and do not see speakers |
Answer: | This is a CD player/changer only. Not only will you need speakers, you will also need an amplifier (which could be incorporated into a stereo receiver). And "RCA"-type cables and speaker wire to connect your new audio system. Good luck. |
Question: | My Onkyo CD player is having a weird issue. The first track is jittery but the rest of the tracks play fine. Any ideas as to how to fix it |
Answer: | The CD may have a bad track. Sometimes wiping it off gently with a static-free cloth will fix the problem. I found the same problem - thought it was the CD changer - but it was a bad audio track. In troubleshooting, be sure to change to another CD so the first one is ejected. Then play another CD and see if the problem returns. After removing the CD with the bad track, power down the CD changer for about 30 seconds in order to clear the system. Power the unit back on and select a new CD. If the problem doesn't return, open the CD loading door and load in the problem CD, select that CD and see if the problem returns. |
Question: | what are the dimensions |
Answer: | 5 1/4" high, 17 1/4" wide and 17" deep |
Question: | Does it have suffle option per song, not just per cd |
Answer: | This 6 CD player has a Repeat option and a Shuffle option. If you use them both simultainiously all tracks on all disks will shuffle indefinately. Unless you get a seriously defective unit like I did. And then they just stop doing so after about 4 or 5 tracks. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What are the dimensions |
Answer: | Product Dimensions: 11.2 x 3.4 x 17.1 inches ; 11.7 pounds |
Question: | will the 650 recognize my external harddrive itunes library? will i see genres/artist/album/song or what |
Answer: | I use it with an iPhone 7 and no song information whatsoever appears on the display; only the CD player mode shows. |
Question: | does it work with older stereo equipment such as amps, and speakers form '80s - '90s |
Answer: | yes, our 1980s Bose Speakers and older 90s amp work fine! |
Question: | does it records |
Answer: | Yes you can record to a USB thumb drive. However, keep in mind that the S.T.N.R. will drop from 100 DB to 80 DB which a large amount! Recording with this player using the USB port is for compressed music files only!So MP3s that are compressed will still sound even more compressed. I bought this for the Burr-Brown DACand a Onkyo 7030 for the Wolfson DAC!Using the add on features may be useful to some but it's really a waste IMO seeing how you lose so much Dynamic Range. Your knocking it down to vinyl standards with a good phono stage like the Carver C-1 preamp has built into it.Using this CD player with even a top of the line receiver will be nothing like using it with separate components. Using a good quality preamp and amp will allow you to get the best possible sound out of a stand alone CD player. I would also state that the Onkyo 7030 is a step up in sound quality over this CD player. I only bought the TEAC for it's Burr-Brown DAC and the fact that it will act as a back up CD player on my C-1's AUX 2 input! It's not a bad player, however, a + or - 2 DB frequency response is rather bad. The Onkyo is + or - .25 DB in comparison. Although I will admit that most people can't hear the difference. The Onkyo 7030 was my first Onkyo purchase and at a 11.7LB weight it's the best CD player on the market for under $400 easily! This Teac is the second best sub $400 player you can buy! People that claim they can actually hear the difference between CD players are usually kidding themselves and unless they are using separate components with a very good preamp and amp you simply can't hear the difference! They can claim all day long that they can, the truth is it's a ego thing! If you actually perform A/B testing between several different players you can see for yourself how true this actually is!I have friends that are very good guitarists and they have a good sense of sound in general. None of them can hear the difference as long as the output volume is the same. I always just suggest that you do the A/B testing yourself with a couple of friends and then you will understand what I have known for many years! People claim all sorts odd things. Such as hearing the difference between two similar turntables, hearing the difference between 14 gauge copper speaker wire and 10 gauge copper speaker wire. This is a joke as if you actually do A/B testing on your own you will see how full of cra* these people really are!! |

Answer: | does a SA500 technics receiver have a DAC |
Question: | A friend just gave me an old sony cdp-ce375, but the remote is missing. can i still operate this unit without a remote |
Answer: | Hi Maria: if you are playing a CD, that has been recorded with songs in individual tracks, say 1-17; if you are listening to a song on track 5, you can STOP that song from playing, and the CD player will stop on that track, in that particular place. If you "hit" the play button again, the CD will continue playing that song. You can also "Fast Forward" that song, and stop the player before the end of the track. At the end of the track, the player will automatically go to the next track. One thing you can not do, as you can with a DVD player, that is playing a DVD that has been recorded with music, is STOP the CD player from playing a track, and then reverse the player to a previous point on the track you have been playing - the player will automatically revert to the previous track. However, if the CD you are playing has not been recorded in tracks, but is just one continuous sequence of songs, then you would be able to reverse the player to a previous position on the CD. The CD player keeps track of the total time of the DISK being played, and displays it on the indicator on the front panel. So, if you have written down the time your favorite song starts to play, you would be able to start your favorite song playing, from a Fast Forward position, by just stopping the player, and then restarting it in the ordinary Play mode, or reverse the player to the time displayed in which your favorite song starts. I hope my comments help you Maria. Philip |

Question: | What kind of receiver do I need for this changer |
Answer: | Only region 1 DVD's will play on this particular model. |
Question: | Does it carryam fm radio |
Answer: | I have tried to do this with many dvds (by utilizing the disc program feature which is the only way I surmise one could play 5 movies w/o touching any buttons) with the same error message occuring once its time to go to the next disc or movie: "not allowed by disc." So that must mean disc manufacturers don't want you to advance to the next disc w/o clicking buttons or controls. |
Question: | Does it have rafio |
Answer: | I don't use the HDMI output on my set up because I have it patched through an older Pioneer A/V receiver. I looked at the owners manual with regard to hook ups and my interpretation of what I see and read is the HDMI will patch the audio and video. I know the HDMI on my Sony flat screen which is patched into my Apple TV includes the audio. I hope this helps. |

Question: | What is the size of the unit |
Answer: | main unit is 14" deep, 18" tall and 12 " across. Each of the two speakers are 14" tall, 8" deep and 8" across. Hope this helps. |
Question: | I don't understand 'bluetooth'. Do all CDs, tapes, et al have to be bluetooth compatible |
Answer: | The source of the sound such as a CD or a tape has nothing to do with Bluetooth and therefore Need not be Compatible. Look at it this way. Normally if you wish to connect a headphone or a speaker to some device it must have a headphone jack or a place for speakers and then there would be a wire connecting the. Think of Bluetooth as an invisible wire connecting lets say a CD play to a headphone.Yes there is a connection but it's invisible. The source, the music must be able to transmit Bluetooth and the headphones or speakers must be able to receive Bluetooth. So the headphones or the speaker must be Bluetooth Compatible and the tape plat or CD player needs to also be Bluetooth compatible. The CDs or the tapes themselves... do not require any compatibility.I hope that this helps.Thank you Jack UFoundThePlace |

Question: | does this play gapless on live songs and does the cd player make a loud humming noise when playing |
Answer: | No and No! If it has a loud humming sound check your connections. Is it hooked up with a SPIF(Digital) or with the analog RCAs?It will not play gapless songs. Checkout all the reviews there is one that's all about the player not playing gapless with classical CDs. Question: | can it handle sacd discs |
Answer: | This is confusing because these reviews are for a few different model disc players, one does and the rest don't. It's the S1000 that plays SACDs. "The CD-S1000 is capable of playing Super Audio CDs... it also plays CDs and CD-RW discs." |
Question: | Does the front USB port have an electric pass through to charge an ipod while playing |
Answer: | The CD-S1000 doesn't have a USB port. |
Question: | Do I need to buy a separate amplifier to use this equipment to play cd's |
Answer: | No, you do not need a separate amplifier to play CDs. The unit will play just fine. Of course, without an outboard amp for the unit to be plugged into and that amp feeding speakers, you will get no sound output. Nevertheless, it WILL play those CDs, and do so quietly. |
Question: | Does it play DVD |
Answer: | Hi MGP, No, it doesn't play DVDs. Thanks. ~Ralph |
Question: | a sound system novice, what do I connect this to??? I bought it online and somehow assumed it was "complete" -- now I need to buy what else is required on line but no idea how to be sure I am making correct purchase. PLEASE HELP ----(just want to hear my cds |
Answer: | This is not a "complete" unit, but merely picks sounds off the CDs and provides output to send to (not included) speakers. Did you have a CD player previously? If so you would likely make the same connections to get CD output to your speakers. Otherwise, you will need another unit which will do that, probably including an amp. Might be time to reach out for help to someone in your circle of acquaintance. Mine is plugged into an "AV Receiver", (ONKYO brand, model TX-SR502) which also receives signal from my DVD player, turntable, TV, and internet radio receiver. The unit also provides radio tuner output if I want to listen to radio. Obviously, this is a separate unit which enables one to select which input to listen to. |
Question: | Does it have usb port outlet for ipod |
Answer: | Hi Anthony, No, this unit does not have a USB port at all. ~Earl |
Question: | A friend just gave me an old sony cdp-ce375, but the remote is missing. can i still operate this unit without a remote |
Answer: | Yes, just look at the buttons on the face of the unit. Old ones are the best. I have purchased three from amazon...maybe four and they work beautifully without a remote. I never use the remote anyway. |
Question: | what are the dimensions of this cd player |
Answer: | Hi, approximate dimensions for this Sony CD player are: 430 mm × 110 mm × 400 mm or (17 in × 4 3/8 in × 15 3/4 in) including projecting (w/h/d). -Ely |
Question: | Is it vented on the top? May I stack it between other devices |
Answer: | No, it is not vented and we do not recommend stacking other devices on top of this Sony CD player. It might do some damages on the unit especially when a heavy unit is placed above it. -Ely |
Question: | I am so dumb about all of this -- what is a receiver to connect to rather than speakers |
Answer: | does a SA500 technics receiver have a DAC |
Question: | Des the cd player rewind or ff SECTIONS of a song, or does it only go track to track |
Philip |
