10 best 5 disk cd players
A 5-disk CD player, often referred to as a CD changer, is a device commonly used in home audio and stereo systems to play multiple compact discs (CDs) sequentially without the need to manually change CDs. Here's what you need to know about 5-disk CD players:
Multi-Disc Capacity: As the name suggests, a 5-disk CD player has the capability to hold and play up to five CDs at once. This allows users to load their favorite music or audio CDs into the player and enjoy extended playtime without interruption.
Convenience: CD changers offer convenience, as users can pre-load several discs and then control playback using a remote control or the player's front panel controls. This eliminates the need to physically swap CDs when one album or playlist finishes.
Random Play and Programming: Most 5-disk CD players come with features like random play, where the player shuffles the tracks across all loaded discs, and programming options, allowing users to specify the order in which tracks from different discs are played.
Disc Loading Mechanism: These players typically feature a carousel-style loading mechanism, which rotates the discs into position for playback. The discs are often stored vertically within the player.
Compatibility: 5-disk CD players are designed to play standard audio CDs, including CD-R and CD-RW discs that contain audio tracks. Some models may also have additional compatibility with MP3 or other digital audio formats.
Output Options: These players are equipped with audio output connections, such as analog RCA jacks or digital optical/coaxial outputs, to connect to amplifiers, receivers, or other audio components.
Display and Controls: Most 5-disk CD players feature an LCD or LED display that shows track information and player status. They also come with various control buttons for functions like play, pause, stop, skip, and more.
Size and Design: The physical dimensions and design of these players can vary, but they are typically compact and designed to fit within a standard audio component rack.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance may include cleaning the player's laser lens and ensuring proper disc alignment to prevent skipping or other playback issues.
Legacy Technology: It's important to note that CD players, including 5-disk models, are becoming less common as digital audio streaming and other technologies have gained popularity. However, they are still appreciated by audiophiles and those with extensive CD collections.
In summary, a 5-disk CD player is a convenient and versatile audio component for those who want to enjoy extended playtime without the need for constant CD changes. These devices offer features like random play and programming, making them a useful addition to home audio systems.

User questions & answers
Question: | what are the dimensions of this cd player |
Answer: | You can choose which sensors are used to control the furnace. If you only select one, that sensor will determine the room temp. If you select more than one sensor, the system uses the average to determine when to run the furnace. If you use wireless sensors you can move them around to deal with uneven temps. |
Question: | Is it vented on the top? May I stack it between other devices |
Answer: | I did not need an internet gateway. I use one indoor remote sensor. It was installed in the summer of 2014, and has been working as expected. Maybe newer models have different requirements, though. |
Question: | I am so dumb about all of this -- what is a receiver to connect to rather than speakers |
Answer: | It can support furnaces with as many as 3 stages (installation manual p. 22) |
Question: | Des the cd player rewind or ff SECTIONS of a song, or does it only go track to track |
Answer: | Yes. Please look at page 20 of the product data sheet: https://forwardthinking.honeywell.com/new/68-0312.pdf |

User questions & answers
Question: | What kind of receiver do I need for this changer |
Answer: | Only region 1 DVD's will play on this particular model. |
Question: | Does it carryam fm radio |
Answer: | I have tried to do this with many dvds (by utilizing the disc program feature which is the only way I surmise one could play 5 movies w/o touching any buttons) with the same error message occuring once its time to go to the next disc or movie: "not allowed by disc." So that must mean disc manufacturers don't want you to advance to the next disc w/o clicking buttons or controls. |
Question: | Does it have rafio |
Answer: | I don't use the HDMI output on my set up because I have it patched through an older Pioneer A/V receiver. I looked at the owners manual with regard to hook ups and my interpretation of what I see and read is the HDMI will patch the audio and video. I know the HDMI on my Sony flat screen which is patched into my Apple TV includes the audio. I hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do you completely turn the system off? Ive read the instructions, but still have words across the top, thank you i advance |
Answer: | On both the radio and the radio's remote control is a button labelled On/Standby that turns the radio on/off. On remote the button is red and on the radio it's just above the volume button to the left side. You should look on the instructions under the tab Disc/Playback for on/off p. E-12 and p. E-4 under the tab Front Panel. Also, on the radio's remote is a button labelled sleep as a timer to turn off the radio, if you forget to do so. |
Question: | Can i set the system to repeat all 5 cds so they will play all day until i turn the unit off |
Answer: | Yes! I love this feature. MY only issue with this player is the complicated instructions . Otherwise it sounds great. I have 3 BOSE units which sound good, are compact, & easy to use.....but they are ALWAYS on the fritz. This little SHARP unit is small, sounds good, and most importantly for me....it has the 5 disc capability. I've had it about 4 years now & it has never failed to operate properly. AND it's almost 3x less in price than a BOSE.... which only plays ONE disc. No brainer! |
Question: | are the dimensions (6.9x12.4x9.5) for the player and the 2 speakers total? what are the dimensions of each component |
Answer: | No, the above is the size of the main unit, though my measurments are slightly different. Measurement across the top of the unit with the speakers at each side of the main player: 19 inches. Speakers, each: 5-3/4” X 7-1/2” X 10-1/2”. Main unit: 6-3/4” X 9-1/2” X 11-1/2” |
Question: | cant he speakers be separated from base unit and how long is the wire from back of base unit to speaker |
Answer: | The speakers are, indeed, separate from the base unit. The speakers are "hardwired" with about 6-feet length of rather thin gauge wire. The main unit has simple spring-loaded terminals to pinch the bare ends of the speaker wires. I added some additional length of heavier gauge wire to the existing wires to get the length I needed. The speakers are 6-ohms, but the manual states something like, "don't use speakers that are less than 6-ohms", which, to me, indicates one could use different speakers as long as they are at least 6-ohm. For example, 8-ohm speakers are common, but they might wouldn't be as efficient with the relatively low-powered 50-watt amplifier ... some they wouldn't be able to get as loud as the stock 6-ohm speakers. |

Key Technology Features: 192 kHz/24bit AD Converters: Costly, extremely powerful digital-to-analog converters , that not only boast a dynamic range of 120 dB, they process information faster and are virtually resistant to clock jitter, to ensure the best possible performance from DVD-Audio, DVD-Video and audio CD.RI (Remote Interactive): With Onkyo’s exclusive RI (Remote Interactive) system capability, you can integrate and operate all compatible components through a single remote control. What’s more, RI capability enables you to simply connect the iPod to your receiver through Onkyo’s RI Dock for the iPod (DS-A1). Your iPod effectively becomes another Onkyo component from which you can relish a fuller sound that just can’t be experienced through headphones. RI capability will also give you remote operability of your iPod for hands-off control over your digital music. VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry): Conventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage but can’t remove it completely. Previously only found on our high-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between sampling points and these points are joined with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. The result — a virtually noiseless, smooth analog signal based on the digital source to bring out even the most subtle of nuances in your music, movie soundtracks and even MP3s. MP3 Playback: This audio format achieves about a 10:1 compression over conventional CD audio. What does this mean? You can store many more songs using the same amount of space. For example, a standard 650MB CD can hold more than 200 songs in MP3 format. Various bitrates allow for higher or lower quality, depending on the desired sound quality of the final recording.

User questions & answers
Question: | regarding onkyo dx c390 - can i discs, press play to hear music or is it necessary to connect speakers? i just opened pkg and do not see speakers |
Answer: | This is a CD player/changer only. Not only will you need speakers, you will also need an amplifier (which could be incorporated into a stereo receiver). And "RCA"-type cables and speaker wire to connect your new audio system. Good luck. |
Question: | My Onkyo CD player is having a weird issue. The first track is jittery but the rest of the tracks play fine. Any ideas as to how to fix it |
Answer: | The CD may have a bad track. Sometimes wiping it off gently with a static-free cloth will fix the problem. I found the same problem - thought it was the CD changer - but it was a bad audio track. In troubleshooting, be sure to change to another CD so the first one is ejected. Then play another CD and see if the problem returns. After removing the CD with the bad track, power down the CD changer for about 30 seconds in order to clear the system. Power the unit back on and select a new CD. If the problem doesn't return, open the CD loading door and load in the problem CD, select that CD and see if the problem returns. |
Question: | what are the dimensions |
Answer: | 5 1/4" high, 17 1/4" wide and 17" deep |
Question: | Does it have suffle option per song, not just per cd |
Answer: | This 6 CD player has a Repeat option and a Shuffle option. If you use them both simultainiously all tracks on all disks will shuffle indefinately. Unless you get a seriously defective unit like I did. And then they just stop doing so after about 4 or 5 tracks. |

Question: | Does it have usb port outlet for ipod |
Answer: | does a SA500 technics receiver have a DAC |
Question: | A friend just gave me an old sony cdp-ce375, but the remote is missing. can i still operate this unit without a remote |
Answer: | Hi Maria: if you are playing a CD, that has been recorded with songs in individual tracks, say 1-17; if you are listening to a song on track 5, you can STOP that song from playing, and the CD player will stop on that track, in that particular place. If you "hit" the play button again, the CD will continue playing that song. You can also "Fast Forward" that song, and stop the player before the end of the track. At the end of the track, the player will automatically go to the next track. One thing you can not do, as you can with a DVD player, that is playing a DVD that has been recorded with music, is STOP the CD player from playing a track, and then reverse the player to a previous point on the track you have been playing - the player will automatically revert to the previous track. However, if the CD you are playing has not been recorded in tracks, but is just one continuous sequence of songs, then you would be able to reverse the player to a previous position on the CD. The CD player keeps track of the total time of the DISK being played, and displays it on the indicator on the front panel. So, if you have written down the time your favorite song starts to play, you would be able to start your favorite song playing, from a Fast Forward position, by just stopping the player, and then restarting it in the ordinary Play mode, or reverse the player to the time displayed in which your favorite song starts. I hope my comments help you Maria. Philip |

5 Disc DVD Changer with HDMI Connectivity for HD Ready TVs
Store hours upon hours of entertainment in Sony's DVP-NC85H/B five-disc carousel changer. This versatile unit plays DVDs and a variety of older disc formats, such as VCD and SVCD, as well as your favorite music CDs. And since the unit supports HDMI connections, you're sure to get the best picture possible.
HDMI Compatible
High-Definition Multi-media Interface (HDMI) is an interface format that provides uncompressed digital audio and video directly to a digital television. It represents the current state of the art in high-definition video and sound because the information never has to be converted into an analog format. Another benefit of HDMI is that it puts all that information into one cable and one easy-to-use connector.
An added benefit of connecting the DVP-NC85H/B to your set with HDMI is that the unit can "upscale" commercial DVDs, which are rendered at 480p resolution, to a digitally interpolated 720p resolution, which makes for a much sharper picture.
For analog sets, the DVP-NC85H/B includes a 108 MHz 12-bit digital-to-analog converter for sharp picture and clear action. It features composite, S-video and component video connectors, as well as optical digital, coaxial digital, and RCA analog audio outputs.
Precision Cinema Progressive
While other DVD players detect image changes at the scan line level, Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive (PCP) system detects them at the pixel level. This makes the picture more faithful to the source--whether film or video--because the technology uses separate, optimized algorithms to handle the differing pixel behavior. It also uses separate algorithms to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are virtually free from motion artifacts.
Precision Drive 3 System
Sony's DVP-NC85H/B delivers excellent picture and sound quality--even from damaged discs. How? The unit's Precision Drive 3 system allows you to playback some DVDs that may have been damaged or warped without a degradation of picture quality. This feature comes in handy when watching rentals or other heavily used discs.
MP3 and JPEG File Playback
The DVP-NC85H/B plays MP3 sound files and JPEG photo files. Simply insert the disc and use the remote control to navigate through your folders to your files.
- 720p/1080i Upscaling Video Output through HDMI Input
- 5 Disc DVD/CD Changer
- Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 Channel Output
- Multi-Disc Resume, 40 discs
User questions & answers
Question: | How old is this DVD player and how much has it been used |
Answer: | Hi MGP, No, it doesn't play DVDs. Thanks. ~Ralph |
Question: | Will this unit play region 2 DVDs |
Answer: | This is not a "complete" unit, but merely picks sounds off the CDs and provides output to send to (not included) speakers. Did you have a CD player previously? If so you would likely make the same connections to get CD output to your speakers. Otherwise, you will need another unit which will do that, probably including an amp. Might be time to reach out for help to someone in your circle of acquaintance. Mine is plugged into an "AV Receiver", (ONKYO brand, model TX-SR502) which also receives signal from my DVD player, turntable, TV, and internet radio receiver. The unit also provides radio tuner output if I want to listen to radio. Obviously, this is a separate unit which enables one to select which input to listen to. |
Question: | Will the movies advance one after another without clicking buttons or controls? (very important to my quadraplegic friend |
Answer: | Hi Anthony, No, this unit does not have a USB port at all. ~Earl |
Question: | Is the one HDMI connection the only one you need? Will it run the picture and the audio etc |
Answer: | Yes, just look at the buttons on the face of the unit. Old ones are the best. I have purchased three from amazon...maybe four and they work beautifully without a remote. I never use the remote anyway. |
