3 best boss powered subwoofers

Boss Audio Systems is a well-known brand in the field of car audio and electronics, particularly for their car audio systems and accessories. While they are not as well-known for home audio products, they do offer a range of car audio and electronics solutions, including subwoofers.

Boss powered subwoofers are car audio subwoofers that come with built-in amplifiers. These subwoofers are designed to enhance the bass performance of a car audio system without the need for an external amplifier. Here are some key features and characteristics of Boss powered subwoofers:

  1. Built-in Amplification: Boss powered subwoofers come with a built-in amplifier, which simplifies the installation process. You don't need to purchase a separate amplifier to power the subwoofer, making it a convenient option for those looking to add more bass to their car audio system.

  2. Compact Design: These subwoofers are designed to fit into tight spaces in a vehicle, such as the trunk or under a seat.Their compact size allows for flexibility in installation.

  3. Various Sizes: Boss offers powered subwoofers in various sizes and configurations, including 8-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch models. This variety allows you to choose a subwoofer size that best suits your audio needs and available space.

  4. Wired and Wireless Remote Control: Some Boss powered subwoofers come with wired or wireless remote controls, allowing you to adjust the bass output easily from the driver's seat.

  5. Multiple Inputs and Controls: These subwoofers typically feature various input options, including RCA and speaker-level inputs, as well as adjustable gain and crossover controls. This versatility allows for integration into a wide range of car audio setups.

  6. Affordable Price: Boss powered subwoofers are generally competitively priced, making them an attractive option for individuals looking to upgrade their car audio systems without breaking the bank.

It's important to note that while Boss Audio Systems offers a range of car audio products, they may not be as specialized or renowned as some dedicated home audio brands when it comes to home audio and home theater setups. Therefore, if you're looking for high-end or audiophile-quality home audio subwoofers, you may want to explore other brands that are more focused on the home audio market. However, if you're interested in enhancing the bass performance of your car audio system, Boss powered subwoofers can be a cost-effective solution.

User questions & answers

Question: What in your opinion is the best power setting for normal use, "on" or "auto" for this unit
Answer: I would say depends if you use the item everyday/constantly as your sound for your surround. Or if you use surround/theater occasionally. If the latter I would use `on/off` , if you use it often or primarily the auto would be the way to go in my opinion. Plus is the sub easy to get to? Auto is great if its behind furniture or out of reach, etc.
Question: Does this speaker have a volume control? Thanks
Answer: Just to clarify something a previous reviewer stated: "Note: If you are using a Sub out/LFE connection from your receiver turn the Low Pass all the way up. " This does not apply to receivers with which you can specify the low-pass cutover frequency. For example, my modest Onkyo receiver has cutover settings of 80/100/120 HZ for the LFE/Sub output. If you have this option, you should consult your main speaker's manual for suggested low-pass settings or simply tune them by ear. For my setup, 120 HZ was both the recommended and best-sounding cutover frequency. 160 HZ was a little muddy :)
Question: Can this sub be added to a Vizio 2.0 sound bar, for small to medium-sized HDTV's? If not, what should I get? For TV/Games/Music
Answer: Like John, I too have a Vizio 2.0 sound bar and this pairs very well. I have a small theater room (10 x 20) and this one 10" fills the room. This sub is the best bang for the buck you can get.
Question: Do I need a Y-adpater? A sound tech told me one sub wire would do the trick and just plug it into the L and ignore the R. Is this true
Answer: Initially, used a one wire connection. Sounded OK, but .... Got a "Y" connector, attached at the rear of the amp, ran L & R wires to the PSW10: sounds amazing now and very adjustable. Need to get the PSW12 to get a one wire connection. Am very satisfied with this sub and would recommend it. Used in a 12' X 20' room, front/back/center and now the sub. Tom
