11 best channel speaker
A channel speaker, particularly a center channel speaker, is an essential component in a home audio system. It plays a crucial role in delivering clear and balanced sound, especially in home theater setups. Here's what you should know about channel speakers:
Center Channel Speaker: The center channel speaker is one of the primary speakers in a home theater audio system. It is typically positioned at or near the center of the audio setup, either above or below the television or projection screen. Its primary function is to reproduce dialogue and other central audio elements in movies, TV shows, and video games.
Voice Matching: Center channel speakers are designed to provide voice matching, ensuring that dialogue and vocals sound natural and clear. This is vital for an immersive home theater experience, as it allows viewers to hear the characters' voices precisely as intended by the content creators.
Soundstage and Imaging: A well-placed and well-tuned center channel speaker contributes to a well-defined soundstage and imaging. This means that sound appears to come from the on-screen action, creating a more realistic and immersive viewing experience.
Timbre Matching: For optimal audio quality, it's often recommended to use a center channel speaker from the same manufacturer and series as the front left and right speakers (often referred to as LCR speakers). This ensures timbre matching, where the speakers have a consistent tonal quality and blend seamlessly together.
Size and Design: Center channel speakers come in various sizes and designs, including bookshelf-style, horizontal soundbars, and dedicated center channel units. The choice depends on the available space and aesthetic preferences of the user.
Crossover Frequencies: The center channel speaker typically handles frequencies in the midrange, while the front left and right speakers handle the low and high frequencies. Crossover frequencies are adjusted to ensure a smooth transition between these speakers.
Compatibility: When setting up a home audio system, it's crucial to ensure that the center channel speaker is compatible with the audio receiver or amplifier and the other speakers in the system.
Mounting Options: Depending on the design of the center channel speaker, it may offer various mounting options, such as wall mounting, shelf placement, or placement on a dedicated center channel speaker stand.
Wiring and Placement: Proper wiring and placement are essential for achieving optimal sound quality. The center channel speaker should be positioned at ear level when seated and wired correctly to the audio receiver.
Acoustic Treatment: Some enthusiasts invest in acoustic treatment for their home theater rooms to enhance sound quality further. This may include sound-absorbing panels, diffusers, and bass traps.
In summary, a channel speaker, especially a center channel speaker, is a vital component in a home audio or home theater system. It ensures that dialogue and central audio elements are reproduced with clarity and accuracy, contributing to an immersive and enjoyable audiovisual experience.

User questions & answers
Question: | What are the dimensions of the speaker in case the product dimensions listed are those of the box |
Answer: | 18.75 long X 8 deep X 7.25 tall. The 8 deep is with the cover on it which is included. And all measurements are in inches. |
Question: | I'm running a denon avr-1000 which delivers 80 watts per channel. is that enough power for this speaker |
Answer: | Absolutely! More is better, but 80's good... especially with a Denon. I'm running a Denon X5200 through this Klipsch package and the system sounds fantastic. |
Question: | I have a klipsch quintet sl system. would this speaker be a good upgrade for my center speaker and is it going to be clearer and sound better |
Answer: | Yes, I also have the quintet system with the klipsch powered sub, I decided to upgrade my front 3 speakers with these and the klipsch center speaker, for better dialog, huge difference. Very happy with them. |
Question: | Can you mount this speaker on the wall |
Answer: | You can mount a shelf to the wall and put the speaker on that. There are no mounting brackets for this speaker. And this speaker is quite heavy for a center speaker. Great speaker. |
Question: | is this unit compatible with my sonyKDL-40R450a 40 inch hdtv with out buying a receiver to connect it |
Answer: | This is not a self-powered speaker, and it does not have its own power plug. It must be connected to a receiver for sound to come out. |
Question: | Can it be mounted to the wall |
Answer: | Yes, mine had keyhole type brackets (like the ones on the back of power strips) that let you attach flush to the wall using screws. I don't remember whether or not screws and molly bolts were included, though. |
Question: | What's the sensitivity of these speakers in dbs not ohms |
Answer: | these seem to be 6 ohm limited to 75W more than this seems to be distorted My receiver likes a 6 ohm for the center but is not very good at the left/right and satellite speakers So I opted for 20W and 40W Home Use - Pyle PCA2 amps |
Question: | Would this work with a different brand 5.1 home theater as a center speaker |
Answer: | Yes... basically it is a speaker and will work with any input rated for its impedance. It’s powerful enough to handle basic home theater not stand alone power. I believe it’s 100watts. But it will work with any system, just be mindful or the power rating. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why are there two sets of wire inputs on the back of the speaker |
Answer: | See this well written article on it, I am actually going to buy the wires myself after reading up on it despite the much higher price tag, but they are a good price on amazon, other have written they are $100 at Best Buy but $30 on Amazon -- http://www.chord.co.uk/help-and-information/speaker-cable-guide/bi-wire-or-single-wire/ |
Question: | does anyone know why it has 2 sets of wire inlets on each speaker? Normally it's one set black and red |
Answer: | The 2 sets of speaker 5 way binding posts are for bi-wires or bi amps if you remove the bridges so you can by-pass the speaker cross-over. It's a waste of time and money since you will need an external cross-over. I wouldn't bother with it at this price point. They are as good as you can get for the price. |
Question: | Why do these have a set of two connections at the back? Is it for two audio sources |
Answer: | Oh my gosh please disregard any of the stupid people who said its benefits are debatable, or that it helps midrange. Those people shouldn’t answer questions about things they obviously know nothing about. I’m reporting those answers as not only wrong but intentionally ignorant. The truth is most people have their front 2 mains wired to the receiver. Today’s receivers are 7.1 and more 9.2.4 or 11.2.whatever. However most users choose not to wire speakers to the extra surround and Atmos channels. 5.1 being fine. So in addition to wiring the entire speaker to just the front Left and Right, you can remove the metal connecting both sets of posts. Leave the original speakers wires. Now go into your receivers set up menu and go to speaker set up. Most receivers have a selector for if you’re using the front-above speaker option. If not, now you can run a 2nd speaker wire to both speaker and connect to the 2 unused posts. The immediate benefit is that instead of only 2 of the amp’s 100w channels pushing the whole Left and Right, you now have 4 of the amp’s 100w channels pushing your speakers. Each speaker gets 200w. |
Question: | Is there a "practical"reason for these speakers to have so many individual speakers inside them |
Answer: | Yes. Oversimplifying but hopefully still useful: There's an ugly trade-off between bass quantity and quality. Larger drivers have more surface area (volume really, as a speaker is effectively an irregularly-shaped piston for pushing and pulling air). More surface area means more bass. But it also means more inertia and typically sloppy or booming (mid-)bass lacking in detail or transient response ("edges"). Smaller drivers respond faster and create tighter, punchier, more accurate (mid-)bass because it can respond faster, but less low bass due to the reduced surface area. Using multiple smaller drivers is an attempt to retain the tight and accurate mid-bass but also team the drivers up to move enough air to extend the bass down low. It's an attempt to keep the best attributes of both approaches. However, real bass-heads might still want a little more low bass. Fortunately, really low bass (say 20-60 Hz) isn't particularly critical and you can get away with a massive woofer like 12" or even 15". For this, a subwoofer is perfect. If you add a subwoofer to a speaker like this, be sure to cross it over well below 100 Hz, as you paid for bass accuracy and you wouldn't want to degrade it by too much overlap. Think of the subwoofer as turning your 3 way speakers into 4 way speakers. You don't want much overlap. As with any free audio advice, take nobody's word for anything and experiment for yourself. Every room and every ear is different, so I might be all wet. That said, there' s the rationale, in a nutshell. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the cerwin-vega sl-45c quad center channel speaker have ports on the back |
Answer: | I'm using them as front stereo speakers with a subwoofer in my living room. I use them for stereo music and we use them when watching movies. They should be plenty loud. You'll have to find the right balance with them if you are using a center channel. Otherwise they will work fine. I have these and an 8 inch Yamaha subwoofer and it fills the room with sound during music and movies. |
Question: | Is the speaker magnetically sealed, or a more direct question how close can this speaker sit to my samsung 65" uhdtv without any adverse problems |
Answer: | These are now available |
Question: | Want to use these just to play music. Just 2 speakers. Recommend a receiver with bluetooth or wifi |
Answer: | Youtube the demo of the 42xs and the 42s and decide. A crossover will always make a noticeable difference. With that said, the 42s and the Club3 (no crossover) are very good speakers in their own right. |
Question: | Can someone please confirm dimentions? On Amazon it says 30 x 9 x 10 inch vs 6.52"x27.58"x7" on Cevin Vega website |
Answer: | I gotta say something here. This page is linked to a center channel speaker (with 3 SPEAKERS AND A CROSSOVER). The bookshelf speakers at the left are NOT the right ones to be linked to this ad. As for the "single speaker" nonsense, even a base unit 5.1 system uses a center channel speaker for accurate reproduction of dialog. Placed as close as you can to the front center spot in front of your tv can yield clear and precise sound for TV and movies. This is the description of the Micca described on this page. Micca MB42X-C Center Channel Speaker Note: MB42X-C speakers are not self-powered and require an amplifier or receiver to play music Enjoy amazing quality movie soundtrack and music in your home with the compact and budget friendly Micca MB42X-C center channel speaker. We have melded our engineering expertise and state of the art technology together to produce a loudspeaker line that will have people falling in love with their music again.
The Reference Premiere RP-450C center channel speaker brings movie dialogue and music lyrics to life. Four 5.25" Cerametallic woofers and a Hybrid Cross-Section Tractrix Horn emit lifelike, front row sound.
90x90 Hybrid Tractrix Horn
Redesigned Tractrix horn utilizes a circular horn throat paired to a square horn mouth to further improve high frequency response and extension, while enhancing imaging and dynamics. The compressed molded rubber construction adds high frequency damping to improve resolution and detail. This creates the cleanest, most natural sound possible.
Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) Titanium Tweeter
A Linear Travel Suspension minimizes distortion for enhanced, detailed performance. LTS Tweeters have been a hallmark of previous Reference lines, as well as our flagship Klipsch Palladium series, making it a core component of some of the best speakers in the world.
Spun Copper Cerametallic Woofers
Cerametallic woofers represent the pinnacle of Klipsch driver design, maintaining exceptional rigidity, and lightweight construction, for minimal cone breakup and distortion. When paired with the Tractrix Horn-loaded LTS tweeter, it provides speaker efficiency highest in its class.
All New Tractrix Port
Utilizing Tractrix geometry, the all new Reference Premiere ports allows for the most efficient, fastest air transfer from the cabinet – for the cleanest, most powerful low frequency response on the market.
Mdf Cabinet With Brushed Polymer Veneer Baffle Finish
We’ve paired a premium wood grain polymer veneer with a brushed polymer veneer to add a more modern aesthetic for the Reference Premiere system. The clean, seamless lines of these speakers allow them to be incorporated into any decor.
Strong, Flexible Removable Grille
Attaches magnetically for an elegant transition from powerful showstopper to discrete performance piece. The magnets are embedded within the baffle for superior high frequency diffraction reduction.

User questions & answers
Question: | Whats the ideal screws to use to hang on a concrete wall |
Answer: | I didn’t wall mount my speaker it’s sitting in a home entertainment cabinet. To wall mount in concrete you will need to drill holes in the concrete using a masonry drill bit the recommended size for the concrete wall anchors you will be using, you will put the screws into the anchors. Make sure the head of the screw will fit through the mounting hole on back of speaker. Mounting hardware kits (screws, anchors and drill bits ) are available at your Local hardware store. Of course you will need a drill, screwdriver and hammer (to use in inserting the wall anchor) |
Question: | Is the signature s35 compatible with rti a7 floor standing speakers? i want to use the s35 for center channel or is another speaker better for the rti |
Answer: | I think completely compatible. I use it for a center speaker. It is really nice. |
Question: | Can i used this with marantz sr5012 and martin logan esl hybrid 8 i worry about tone of the voice be diferrent |
Answer: | 90% of the voices are coming out of the center channel, you should not notice a difference, but personally, I would stay with Martin Logan's center channel and stick with their quality. |
Question: | Every speaker brand strives to be neutral, so why should there be tonal mismatches? Why must I buy a center of the same brand |
Answer: | In my experience most speakers have their own tonal quality however that does not mean speakers from different manufacturers or even different models by the same manufacturer will not sound good together. I use my Polk S35 center channel speaker with four Bose 301 series speakers and a Polk PSW505 subwoofer to make up my home theater system. They sound great together and much better than it did with my original Bose center channel. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will the speaker sound worse if my avr is rated at 95w at 8 ohms per channel compared to 100w |
Answer: | If your mean a power outlet, the answer is No. The only connection is the regular speaker wire that connects to the source of the sound. |
Question: | Can it be used as a L and R speaker |
Answer: | It works great with my 55 inch Samsung - sound is great and looks good. I chose the white version to blend into our fairly light colored walls. Should look fine with a larger TV as well (your 75 inch model). |
Question: | What is the voltage |
Answer: | It should work as the wire connections are similar. |
Question: | Is there a front cover or are the speakers exposed like in the picture |
Answer: | Substantial upgrade, yes! I’ve compared several speaker brands over the years: Polk, Martin Logan, Sony, and Onkyo. Klipsch has by far blown me away with the sound and clarity. The cost is worth the quality! |
