11 best rca turntables
RCA turntables, produced by RCA or other manufacturers under the RCA brand, are record players designed for playing vinyl records. These turntables are often associated with home audio systems and enthusiasts who appreciate the warm, analog sound of vinyl. Here's what you should know about RCA turntables:
Vinyl Playback: RCA turntables are primarily designed for playing vinyl records, including LPs (long-playing records) and 45 RPM singles. They have a tonearm with a stylus (needle) that reads the grooves on the record and translates them into audio signals.
Types of Turntables: RCA offers a range of turntable models with various features. These can include basic models for casual listeners, semi-automatic and automatic models with convenient features like auto-return, and high-end models for audiophiles seeking superior sound quality.
Drive Types: RCA turntables may use different drive types. The most common types are belt-driven and direct-drive turntables. Belt-driven turntables use a belt to spin the platter, while direct-drive turntables have the platter directly attached to the motor. Direct-drive turntables are often preferred by DJs for their stability, while audiophiles often appreciate belt-driven models for their reduced motor noise.
Built-in Preamp: Some RCA turntables come with a built-in preamplifier (preamp). A preamp is essential for boosting the low-level signal from the turntable's cartridge to a level that can be processed by amplifiers or receivers. Turntables with built-in preamps are convenient for connecting directly to powered speakers or home audio systems.
Cartridges and Stylus: RCA turntables usually come with a cartridge and stylus. The cartridge houses the stylus, which tracks the record's grooves. Different cartridges can provide varying levels of sound quality, and they are often upgradeable if you want to improve your turntable's performance.
Speed Control: RCA turntables typically support multiple playback speeds, including 33 1/3, 45, and sometimes 78 RPM. This allows you to play various types of vinyl records.
USB Connectivity: Some modern RCA turntables offer USB connectivity, allowing you to digitize your vinyl collection by connecting the turntable to a computer. This is useful for archiving your records and listening to them digitally.
Dust Covers: Many RCA turntables come with removable dust covers to protect the turntable and records from dust and debris when not in use.
Audio Quality: The audio quality of RCA turntables can vary depending on the model and components used. Higher-end models often provide superior sound quality with low distortion and excellent tracking.
Compatibility: RCA turntables are compatible with a wide range of home audio systems, including stereo receivers, amplifiers, and powered speakers. Ensure that your chosen turntable matches the input options of your audio equipment.
In summary, RCA turntables offer a variety of options for vinyl enthusiasts, ranging from basic models to high-end audiophile-grade turntables. They are designed for playing vinyl records and may include features like built-in preamps, USB connectivity, and dust covers. The choice of a turntable depends on your budget and the level of audio quality you desire for your vinyl listening experience.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this thing have an/off switch or do you need to plug/unplug everytime you use it |
Answer: | no switch. You can plug/unplug, I leave it plugged in all the time. |
Question: | Unit works fine for awhile and then starts outputting static, even with no input connected. I've tried it with several amps with the same results |
Answer: | Most likely people who are having noise problems it is because of ground loop isolation problem. If you have a ground loop isolation problem grounding the preamp box is unlikely to help. Without getting technical, what you want to buy is a ground loop isolator or a humm eliminator; both the ground loop isolator and humm eliminator tackles the cause of the noise at the fundamental source of the problem, depending on your audio setup, one maybe easier to use than the other. To use the ground loop isolator or the humm eliminator they generally come with instructions, or you can google this topic. If the noise in your audio system isn't fixed by using this solution the first time, try putting the ground loop isolator and humm eliminator at various points in your audio system. Also you can talk to audio people and get advice about how to fix ground loop problems from people who setup big audio systems, for concerts and such; if you talk to the average electronic garage shop audio enthusiast you are likely to get bad advice, i.e., meaningless explanations. Also caution must be used when Googling this topic, much of the discussion, advice and explanation on this topic is bogus, you can get a general correct feel of this topic if you read a number of explanations. Also one more thing that can cause a "popping noise" is that you have too much gain, this is a phono amp and the gain is huge, it takes a 3mV and makes it 2Vp-p this is a gain of around 100 to 200, if you gain up the audio signal too much then the signal out of your amplifier runs out of head room and clips, this can cause a popping sound, essentially you have too much gain. If this is occurring you need to either buy a preamp with less gain or attenuate the signal before it gets to the preamp. If this is a problem, too much gain, you can buy preamps with gain control. |
Question: | My turntable has very quiet output. Will this device help boost the volume |
Answer: | Yes, indeed. If your need was like mine (no built-in pre-amp on the turntable and no specifically dedicated phono input on your amplifier) you will find this unit to be the perfect solution to needed amplification of the turntable's output. Don't forget to hook up the ground wire as directed or you may wind up putting unwanted noise into the audio. |
Question: | My amp DOES have a Phono Input, but my cartridges are low output. Can I use this to boost the signal using the Phono Input to reduce audible hiss |
Answer: | No, you can't. This is a phono preamp with RIAA playback equalization that amplifies the signal about 100 times, so it essentially does what your built-in phono preamp does. The output signal from the separate preamp is equalized to a nominally "flat" frequency response and the amplified signal level will overload and probably damage your built-in phono preamp. Plug it into any other stereo line input on your system (AUX, CD, DVD, TAPE, VCR, etc.), but NOT the PHONO input! If you need higher signal gain, maybe look at phono preamps from ART or TCC that have output level controls. If you use moving-coil (MC) cartridges, you need a preamp specifically designed for them...they require at least 55 dB (over 500 times) signal gain vs. about 40 dB (100 times) for moving-magnet (MM) cartridges. Noise becomes a critical issue with MC cartridges because of their extremely low signal output, so good-quality cables and good turntable grounding are essential. |

Two years in the making, Pangea Audio's Premier SE ground-breaking turntable cable – or, more accurately, turntable cable with superior grounding – has finally arrived. This amazing RCA-to-RCA cable was definitely worth the wait! What distinguishes the Premier SE from lesser turntable cables? For that we need a little background. For nearly fifty years, all turntables came with a dedicated cable running straight from the tonearm base to the phono stage. In the last ten years, however, more and more popular selling turntables – such as the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon, for example – have been designed with RCA outputs on the back of the turntable. This welcome design change allows users to choose whichever audio interconnect cable they wanted, but the benefits come with a big problem. For best sound, there should be a separate ground wire running from the turntable back to the preamp. But 99.99% of the quality audio cables on the market lack this necessary grounding wire. Several companies introduced interconnects with a separate ground wire, but these grounding cables were not integrated into the cable. Instead, they were fixed outside of the cable, resulting in a less than idea grounding solution.
- RCA-to-RCA turntable cable
- Delivers exceptionally low noise performance with any high-end audio turntable
- Unique twin-lead design
- Cardas Grade One Copper conductors
- Black/gray nylon-covered TPR jacket
User questions & answers
Question: | How long is it |
Answer: | Soft TPU Clear case, thank you |
Question: | Is the little cable connector thing (that holds the 3 cables together)-- adjustable? or is it fixed where it is |
Answer: | Kind of. It has a ridge around the edge that semi-protects your screen. However, it provides no real screen protection and so I would highly recommend buying a separate screen protector. It is worth noting that this product also discolors quickly, which is mostly a cosmetic issue but is something to note nonetheless. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i use this cable to connect both a samsung tv sound bar and alexa to a single aux connection on the bose wave music system iv |
Answer: | If there is no rca port, you need to purchase an rca port to connect. You can see if your product has a 3.5mm jack |
Question: | Will this work on alexa to my stereo receiver |
Answer: | We do not have a fitment for that year, make and model. You can email the dimensions of the dash opening, along with a photo and we can try and find a potential fitment. |
Question: | Does this work with alexa |
Answer: | You can almost make it fit anything, but YES, it should fit in a 73 Duster. |
Question: | Will this plug into an iPhone |
Answer: | It fits in my 78 Chevy c10. It will fit. The advice I have is measure what the old stereo knobs are at, and then adjust the new stereo to match it. I tossed the old one out and had to take the dash apart 15 times to get it right. |

- CONVERTS PHONO SIGNALS: A turntable preamp that converts phono signals to Line Level Signals. This state-of-the-art circuitry phono preamp can accommodate magnetic pickups with an input sensitivity of 3mV at 50K Ohms
- LOW NOISE OPERATION: Offers outstanding performance with it’s Low-Noise Audio Operational Amplifiers. The output is 2V max (P-P) at 10K Ohms. It’s better to position the preamp close to the source to reduce unwanted noise and interference
- CONNECTS TO TURNTABLES: Connect any turntable to modern sound equipment without specialized phono input for amplifying music. For the receiver, this can be connected to speakers, computers, laptops and more
- SIMPLE PLUG & PLAY: This mini preamp has stereo RCA inputs and stereo RCA outputs. Connect the turntable to the RCA inputs and ground. Then, connect the amplifier receiver to the RCA outputs
User questions & answers
Question: | If I have a record player without a Preamp, will this help me with hooking it up to a Sonos |
Answer: | You can hook it up to anything with a red and white connection. Or if you get the rca to 3.5mm jack then you can hook it up to anything with an input slot. I used this on my realistic lab 440 which doesn't have a preamp. Once I connected the ground from my turntable into the ground slot on this amp, my music sounded loud and clear. |
Question: | mp |
Answer: | Turntables (with typical magnetic cartridges) have very low signal output (a few thousandths of a volt). Records have the bass reduced to provide enough room on the surface for the recorded grooves, and the treble boosted to reduce the surface noise level when played back. A phono preamplifier performs two jobs: - It boosts the small signal from the turntable by about 50 to 100 times (producing a "line level" signal) so it can be used by typical receivers or amplifiers.- It also boosts the bass and reduces the treble according to an industry standard (the RIAA equalization curve) to restore the signal from the record to its original frequency response. The Pyle PP999 is just an inexpensive phono preamp, nothing special. Phono preamps can range from $20 on up to whatever you're willing to pay for ultra-high quality. Some manufacturers make "USB" phono preamps that have A/D (analog-to-digital) converters built in and connect to a computer's USB port. Most of these provide "CD quality" conversion (16-bits at 44kHz or 48kHz). These may be adequate for digitizing your vinyl, but many computer sound systems can provide up to 24-bit, 192 kHz conversion depending on the software you use (much higher quality), by connecting the preamp output to the computer's line input. Don't just convert directly to MP3 files...you'll lose too much detail compared to the original vinyl sound. It takes almost no time to make an MP3 copy of a high bit-rate WAV or FLAC (lossless) file, but it'll take you an hour to make ANY digital copy of an LP, so do it the best you can the first time! |
Question: | So this is a stupid question, I plug my RCA wires coming from my turntable into the Amp. But where do I plug the speaker wires into on the Amp |
Answer: | TurnTable==>PreAmp==>Receiver/Amplifier==>SpeakersThe 'Pyle PP999' is the "Preamp". The Turntable is plugged into the PP999 INPUT and the PP999 OUTPUT plugs directly into any (non Phono) INPUT on the receiver. Your Receiver allows you to switch between different music-sources, contains the primary-amplifier and distributes the final sound out to the speakers(and subwoofer). The Receiver should have multiple inputs for receiving signals from eg. CD, Tape, VCR, etc. In my experience those labels are for convenience and interchangeable with the exception of a "Phono" input. NOTE: If the receiver has a "Phono" input then there's a built-in preamp. If your using an external preamp (Pyle PP999) do NOT plug it into the Receiver's 'Phono' input, it could cause damage. I plug the preamp for the turntable into the Receiver's 'VCR' or 'TV' inputs. |
Question: | I have the Pyle turntable and Pyle stereo but they don't work together--VERY low sound--so is this the missing piece |

Records have the bass reduced to provide enough room on the surface for the recorded grooves, and the treble boosted to reduce the surface noise level when played back. Most modern receivers DO NOT have the right inputs to deal with this signal (no "phono" input).
