Answer:	I actually have thought about doing what you propose. I would secure the data sheet for the NE5532 device and identify the pins for + and - 12VDC and power ground. I would solder wires directly to the circuit board from your power supply and bypass the boards power supply. Remember this device requires both a positive and negative voltage to operate. If you don’t have a positive and negative power supply it’s much easer to purchase a 12-15 VAC center tapped small transformer. Good luck.

Answer:	You probably should not because the chipset is design for 8 ohm and you may destroy the chipset if you play it too loud. The other way you can connect the 4 ohm speaker is to add a power resistor of 4 ohms in series -- this will drop your power output by 3 db/50% at 4 ohms, but prevent you from destroying the chipset.

Question:	Can i use 18650 lithium ion batteries to run this instead of a 12v battery
Answer:	The instructions that came with the unit says the amplifier will except 8 to 26v dc. I used 12v dc at 5 amps and it works fine. It looks like the 18650 batteries are 3.7vdc each, so you may need to connect 4 in series to get around 14.8vdc.
