TL1600 Blackstone in Use

In our large home theater room the small TL1600 multi-channel system seems almost a little lost. We treated, set up and calibrated the compact speaker system with the same attention as we would with a full-size high-end surround system, to sound as optimal as possible and to really see and hear what it could do. After several hours of burn-in, the Polk Audio TL1600 was ready to prove itself in movie mode. We put ‘The Hobbit‘ trilogy in the blu-ray disc tray and let the special effects of Smaugs wings and roaring fire blast our ears. Admittedly, the subwoofer doesn't dive into the deepest end of the bass pool, but it does a much better job in the upper layers of the bass, which it plays in our room with vigor and precision. To our surprise, the inconspicuous satellites sounded powerful and very balanced without emphasizing individual frequency ranges, even when playing at absurd volume levels. Fine details are well resolved and are easy to spot in even the busiest battle.

TL1 Satellite Speakers & Center

The four very compact TL1 satellite speakers can be discreetly integrated into most homes due to their small dimensions. On the back is a keyhole bracket with which the speaker can be mounted on a wall. Alternatively, you can use the speakers on a shelf or on a suitable stand. Due to the curved shape and molded ridges on the inside of the cabinet, the compact speakers are sufficiently sturdy and stable. As a special feature, the 'Time lens technology', the tweeter is slightly recessed to bring the acoustic centers of the midrange and tweeter on the same spatial plane. The identical satellites are full two-way systems, each equipped with a 65 mm woofer and one 13 mm silk dome. The center speaker have similar features as the satellites, however, the center speaker is for horizontal installation and has two midrange drivers. On the back you'll find an aperiodic-tuned bass reflex port to optimize and push the bass range slightly.

TL1600 Active Subwoofer

To support the satellites in the bass, Polk Audio include an active down-firing subwoofer suitable for rooms up to 70 square feet. Using the 100-watt active amplifier on the back of the subwoofer in combination with a long-stroke 200mm bass driver, the TL1600 generates plenty of momentum from about 45 Hertz. The equipped amplifier allows for infinite adjustment of the cut-off frequency of 80 to 160 Hz and the phase can be adjusted 180 degrees with a switch. High feet with rubber ends decouple the subwoofer from the floor and create the necessary distance to the floor, allowing the driver to move smoothly and breathe. The downward firing vented port is not susceptible to interfering flow noise due to the large diameter.

Answer:	Yes you can use a mic with any system. There is literally an adapter for everything. Clearly this unit comes with a regular headphone/phone/tablet audio wire with RCA on the other end...Which mean all you need is a small adapter that takes whatever mic plug and has a 3.5 (regular audio like average headphones or phone) out. So if that sounds confusing it really is not. Figure out what your mic is, if it is the kind that most use, which will plug into an amp, then it will be very easy to find the right adapter, and likely it will cost 15$ or less. We have one here that you could use...Anything that you can plug your mic into that has a 3.5 output will work, even if it is not an adapter. We also have such devices here. REMEMBER, there is an adapter for all things audio and video....you can even buy a adapter that allows you to use your PC to record multiple channels that prevents the cable box from passing along the encryption that prevents recording live TV. Answer:	I would say depends if you use the item everyday/constantly as your sound for your surround. Or if you use surround/theater occasionally. If the latter I would use `on/off` , if you use it often or primarily the auto would be the way to go in my opinion. Plus is the sub easy to get to? Auto is great if its behind furniture or out of reach,etc.

Answer:	Just to clarify something a previous reviewer stated: "Note: If you are using a Sub out/LFE connection from your receiver turn the Low Pass all the way up. " This does not apply to receivers with which you can specify the low-pass cutover frequency. For example, my modest Onkyo receiver has cutover settings of 80/100/120 HZ for the LFE/Sub output. If you have this option, you should consult your main speaker's manual for suggested low-pass settings or simply tune them by ear. For my setup, 120 HZ was both the recommended and best-sounding cutover frequency. 160 HZ was a little muddy :)

Answer:	Like John, I too have a Vizio 2.0 sound bar and this pairs very well. I have a small theater room (10 x 20) and this one 10" fills the room. This sub is the best bang for the buck you can get.

Answer:	Initially, used a one wire connection. Sounded OK, but .... Got a "Y" connector, attached at the rear of the amp, ran L & R wires to the PSW10: sounds amazing now and very adjustable. Need to get the PSW12 to get a one wire connection. Am very satisfied with this sub and would recommend it. Used in a 12' X 20' room, front/back/center and now the sub. Tom

Answer:	If the cracks are VERY fine, the grout pen may fill them, but this does not apply to silicon grouting, which is generally used to seal the line between counter top and wall. The grout pen is meant for mortar grout.

Answer:	Good question. For most grouts it is permanent. However some customers try it on "sealed" grout and it is not able to adhere with the grout, therefore it is temporary.

Answer:	I don't use a pre amplifier. I use a mixer. But I guess it depends on what you are using the amplifier for.

Answer:	Hi Kwamie. Since this is a 2 channel amp, it can power them as long as you have a passive crossover for each set of 15", 12", and tweeter.

Answer:	Well, I would use a stronger heavy duty speaker-using just the 8 ohm is not the best sound you can have especially when it is recommended to use at maximum power of 40 to 80 hms when at peak of the 8 ohms-and using the PPA 220, bridged is 8-16 ohms-but why bridge, this gives a sound that is being lost.
Question:	What is the weight
Answer:	Honestly, it's not a very powerful amp at all. Had it wide open and had to turn almost all the gains on my non-powered board up to full. That gains AND the sliders. Wouldn't recommend it at all for outside type events. Might work OKAY for small inside.
