Answer:	The dyer provides dry heat and the steamer moist/wet heat. The latter is best for deep conditioning treatments. I swear by the steamer as the moisture helps the product penetrate the hair shaft deeply. I am so sorry to have gotten rid of mine when I moved earlier this year. I am ready for a newer model. The steamer is not meant to dry hair at all, that would be what the hair dryer is for. If you go with a hair dyer, you would need to put a plastic cap on for conditioning treatments.

Answer:	Heya Brandon, This depends on how attached to your case you are. I drilled a hole in mine about a half inch in diameter right where the USB port is. (mark it with a sharpie first, and use a dremel tool. makes it a ton easier) I had 2 cases so having one modified and no longer waterproof was not an issue cuz I had a spare. The other option would be like Ryan says and use a skeleton case. I am from a dusty environment so I keep the camera in the standard, albeit modified, case and use a swimming earplug (you can get these at walmart) molded around the adapter and the case. It looks janky but it works well and keeps rain, snow, dust, etc. out of the camera. I posted a review with a couple pictures though I realize now the actual connection was not visible. So in closing, Yes, the camera must be free from the case to use this mic unless you don't mind putting a hole in the plastic, or buy a skeleton case or a frame.
