User questions & answers
Question: | Does this come with a Garmin warranty |
Answer: | Yes, it does come with the Garmin Warranty. Garmin products are warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for one year* from the original date of purchase. Here is a links for more warranty information: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=bcEvnxKADn2O7A2Tspooe6&productID=568181&searchQuery=Warranty Thanks Jenny |
Question: | Has anyone used this for diving and skiing? need a dive computer, but want to track my runs/top speed when i ski as well |
Answer: | The skiing feature is NOT working well. I have used it many times and was getting various false readings including bogus altitude and impossibly high speeds. Not recommended for skiing. But happy with most of scuba related tracking except few small bugs with the mobile app and the diving related screens. |
Question: | Is it compatible with tank pressure transmitter |
Answer: | It does not have air integration... one of the biggest downsides to using it as a dive computer, Garmin should have incorporated it for sure! |
Question: | Can I download music on the decent like my fenix 5 and use it for running as well |
Answer: | Hi, Thanks for your question. Unffortunately, it can not hold music files. Thanks Divemaster Chris 866-728-2293 Onlinescuba |

Features:
Whether you dive with or without tanks, in saltwater or freshwater, breathing nitrox, trimix or holding your breath - Descent Mk1 is the intuitive, do-it-all dive computer you’ve been waiting for. It’s the watch-sized dive computer to offer surface GPS navigation with full-color onscreen mapping and location reference - so you can easily mark your dive entry and exit points.
Once underwater, the Bühlmann ZHL-16c algorithm makes sure you’re staying within your dive limits. Selectable tone and vibration alerts help keep you informed while you’re submerged. Returning topside, Descent Mk1 also functions as a robust training companion, offering the features of our fēnix 5X ultimate multisport GPS watch, including smart notifications to help you stay in touch on the go. What’s more, the Descent Mk1 design is so sleek, comfortable and elegantly crafted, you’ll want to wear it as your everyday timepiece.
Features:
Providing easy-to-access features for a range of diving activities - including the ability to plan dives on the device for recreational, technical and free diving - Descent Mk1 provides all the key, real-time data you need for a confident dive. The computer is automatically activated when you hit the water, showing your current depth, dive time, water temperature, ascent/descent rate, no-deco time, decompression stop information, battery life and more on the unit’s crisp 1.2” color display.
In addition to its high-sensitivity GPS and GLONASS satellite tracking for map-based surface navigation, Descent Mk1 also provides a full array of ABC (altimeter, barometer and compass) sensor capabilities for topside navigation. And the easy-to-read compass display is available for underwater use as well. The built-in altimeter provides elevation data, while the tilt-compensated 3-axis electronic compass keeps your bearing - whether you’re moving or not. For quick access to the compass display, a handy 'tap to compass' feature lets you simply double-tap the screen instead of pushing the function buttons.
The Descent Mk1 dive computer uses Garmin Elevate wrist-based heart rate technology to optically scan your pulse (when worn in contact with your skin, not over a wetsuit or dry suit).

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you have to have a cellphone to use this |
Answer: | It is waterproof. I’ve swam with it in a pool and in the ocean (I was a little nervous about that, but no problems at all). |
Question: | Hello when will this watch be coming out? i know i read 5 to 6 weeks, but can you please provide a real date. i want it before april 1st |
Answer: | Yes it does, it also tracks elevation gain while cycling |
Question: | Does it display your current UTM coordinates |
Answer: | I have tiny wrists! The 235 face literally goes past the width of my wrist. The 35 is a nice fit. Bigger than what I'm use to wearing on my wrist in general but still looks good! |
Question: | How accurate is the wrist-based heart rate monitor for the fenix line of watches compared to using a chest strap |
Answer: | I am looking at these two watches as well. I just went to my local running store today to talk to them about the 235 vs the 35 and they basically told me that they are the same watch except for thesefew differences.... the 235 has a color screen, longer battery life, and a few more running options like race pace estimating, V02 Max estimator, etc. If you go to the Garmin site and do the compare feature you can get a pretty good look at the differences. I also downloaded the manuals for both. I'm going to go with the 35. The extra features the 235 has are super nice but I don't think they are personally necessary for me. I run 5K's, half-marathons, and full-marathons and the 35 looks like it will be sufficient for me. Also, i'm a 34 year old female and the 234 looked HUGE on my wrist! |

Fenix 5
Outstanding Readability on the Run
A bright, high-resolution, full-color Garmin Chroma Display with LED backlighting assures great readability in all ambient conditions. Transflective technology that reflects and transmits light at the same time enables the watch face to become even more readable under intense sunlight. Sapphire editions feature a scratch-resistant sapphire lens and are also Wi-Fi-enabled so your watch can connect to your wireless network and automatically send activity uploads for sharing on Garmin Connect.
Wrist-based Heart Rate
On your wrist, Elevate wrist heart rate technology lets you monitor your heart rate without wearing a chest strap. In addition to counting steps and monitoring sleep, the watch uses heart rate to provide calories burned information and quantify the intensity of your fitness activities.
Match Your Style with Interchangeable Watchbands
A selection of QuickFit bands in your choice of premium leather, metal or silicone makes it easy to mix and match styles to go with any sport or activity. No tools are required to make the transformation. Just swap, click and go.
Advanced Performance Metrics
Every Fenix 5 watch is packed with sophisticated training features to help monitor your form and performance. Enhanced readouts for Training Status and Training Effect show aerobic and anaerobic benefits of your workout – so you can see how your workouts are paying off and even compare results with your peers. The VO2 max estimator crunches data, including your running speed, beats per minute and heart rate variability, to estimate the maximum volume of oxygen you can consume per minute. And other fitness metrics include recovery advisor with a recovery timer and recovery check, plus a race predictor that estimates your ideal finish time based on your current VO2 max number.
Advanced Running Dynamics
Now you can go further with your running data. Garmin training features that tap into extended physiological metrics and advanced running dynamics can help improve your form and overall performance. These include: Performance condition, Lactate threshold, Cadence, Stride length.
Want more data?
By pairing your watch with a compatible heart rate chest strap such as the HRM-Run, you can access these additional Fenix 5 metrics: Vertical oscillation and ratio, Gound contact time and balance, Stress score.
Swim Profiles, Skiing, Paddle Sports, Golf and More
Beyond their running functions, Fenix 5 watches also offer special feature sets to help with swim training, skiing, golfing and paddle sports, including stand-up paddle boarding and rowing. For swimmers, the device tracks your distance, pace, stroke count and more. Ski/Board mode puts speed, distance, vertical drop and an automatic run counter (with Auto Pause for the lift line) and more at your fingertips. The feature set for paddle sports includes stroke count, stroke rate and even distance per stroke. Golf mode gives you yardage to the front, back and middle of the green for any single course you’ve downloaded from Garmin Connect – and also adds enhancements such as stat tracking (fairways hit, etc.), Green View, AutoShot detection and auto measure.
Custom Apps and Watch Faces
You can customize your Fenix 5 watch with free downloads from our Connect IQ store. Change your watch face, add data fields or get apps and widgets for information at a glance.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference between the sport version and the premium version of the Vivomove HR |
Answer: | No you don't, you can download your daily info to Garmin connect....this is a great watch |
Question: | Whatsapp message display and reply functionality |
Answer: | I ordered on January 13 and haven't heard anything about shipping. So I reached out to Garmin customer service today and they said it will be another 2-3 weeks for the 5S Sapphire. I'm not sure how folks are receiving theirs already if Garmin told me today that it hasn't been released yet...... I know that people who ordered the Fenix 5S (non Sapphire) already received them and they are even in stores already, so maybe that is what people have actually received. |
Question: | What notifications do you get? Can you respond |
Answer: | What are utm coordinates |
Question: | To verify, this can be worn while swimming |
Answer: | I have the Fenix 5S. The Wrist HR seems good when I am not active; like at my desk at work, sitting around the house, etc. But when I hit the gym and I am gasping for air, my wrist HR at times will record #'s in the 50's/60's. Impossible when I am working near my threshold. I don't have this issue when I put my chest strap on. This seems to be a consistent trend regardless of which Garmin wrist wearable I wear; I have several. |

User questions & answers
Question: | When in "normal" non-exercise mode, can i set the watch face just to display time, day & date |
Answer: | Yes, I wear it as a watch that normally displays time, date and battery life. Then I can toggle thru other displays when I want to see heart rate, steps, weather, calendar, workout, or any of the other features. |
Question: | Does the GPS work if it's covered by a jacket or long sleeved shirt |
Answer: | I purchased this for my wife so I do not use it however I am a surveyor so I do have vast experience with GPS. GPS signals will not be hindered by thin materials such as cloth. Inside buildings with wood and shingle roofs will throw the location of a bit reducing the accuracy. GPS signals simply do not penetrate metal objects. That being said you should not experience any loss of signal or accuracy using typical clothing items. You may experience some issues if the device was covered with something metallic such as those solar blankets. Perhaps a good experiment to ease your mind is use your cell phone's GPS tucked into your sleeve as the technology is nearly identical in all small consumer products. |
Question: | Is it water resistant |
Answer: | Yes, it is...I looked at the manual and the water rating is actually 5 ATM (atmospheres), not 5 meters. 5 ATM actually equates to about 50 meters deep, so technically you could swim or shower with this watch just fine. Just be aware that this model doesn't currently have any swim tracking features built in so there's not much of a point to swimming with it anyway (although you can install apps from Garmin Connect IQ, so perhaps there is a swim tracking app on there).Source: http://www.garmin.com/en-US/legal/waterrating(the "Swim" section of the table on that page has a footnote which references devices rated at 5ATM) |
Question: | Does this watch have continuous heart rate monitoring like the fitbit surge |
Answer: | I am not familiar with the fitbit however this garmin 235 monitors your heart rate constantly as long as you are wearing it. I wear mine even while I am sleeping. It is neat to see my resting heartbeat. Love it! |

User questions & answers
Question: | is this touch screen |
Answer: | Touch screen is garbage for exercise. Sweat + touch screen = no good. |
Question: | How do you tell it is Asian version |
Answer: | Primarily by its part number: APAC: Garmin part 010-01746-16 ROW: Garmin part 010-01746-00 APAC is the Asian version, and ROW is "Rest Of World". Functionally, there isnt much of a difference that you would know about. The APAC (Asian version) lags behind a month to several months for software version updates, but it does catch up eventually. The primary difference according to forums on the subject is language availability. That being said, I have not yet read where anyone having an Asian model could not do everything functionally that everyone else could do, including uploading data to Garmin Connect and usage of the site. This link will show you the picture differences in the packaging -note the part number difference: https://imgur.com/gallery/shzkPSh |
Question: | If it has the wrist heart rate monitor why do we need to buy the heart rate straps |
Answer: | The wrist monitor doesn't work in the water, which is why you'd want the SWIM band. Also, it isn't quite as accurate as a strap, which is what the regular TRI band is for. It also gives you running metrics that just the watch doesn't give you - that said, if you don't want a strap and want the metrics, there is a RD pod product from Garmin you can just clip onto your shorts. Personally, just the watch and the built in monitor are fine for me, as I use this watch primarily for running and biking. |
Question: | Is this the apac (asia pacific) version or the row (rest of world) version |
Answer: | I received mine on 25 March and it's the ROW version. I went with the default "fulfilled by Amazon" via one-day prime delivery. Not sure who the original seller was. |

Forerunner 935 lets you change things up with ease thanks to built-in activity profiles for running (indoor/outdoor), cycling (indoor/outdoor), swimming (pool/open water), cross-country skiing, paddle sports, trail running, hiking, strength training and many more. For brick workouts and du/triathlon races, the auto multisport feature lets you switch sports with just one button press. The 935 is compatible with advanced workouts for running, cycling — and even pool swimming.
Smarter Connections
Smart notifications delivered right to your wrist are just the beginning. When paired with your compatible smartphone, Forerunner 935 also gives you access to automatic uploads to Garmin Connect, audio prompts, music controls and more. Let your loved ones follow your runs and rides in real time with LiveTrack — or use GroupTrack, which lets you keep tabs on your riding buddies as you go. For getting your data to and from the cloud, if you like the quick connection Wi-Fi provides, 935 can do that, too.
Follow Your Heart
Wrist-based heart rate might be an easy choice when you want to move without restrictions on race day, but Forerunner 935 gives you the option to tap into much more data with the addition of a compatible heart rate strap. A chest strap heart rate monitor (like HRM-Run or HRM-Tri) unlocks advanced features such as lactate threshold and the HRV (heart rate variability) stress test.
Make Every Day a Competition
Get the extra push you need to beat yesterday with Strava Live Segments. Strava Premium members can sync running and cycling segments to their 935 for live feedback during their activities. Also get alerts for segment starts and finishes, view leaderboard rankings, and see how your current effort compares to your PR.

Approach S60
Look good on and off the course. The Approach S60 golf watch gives you the critical information you need for your round — displayed on a large, 1.2-inch sunlight readable color touchscreen — so you can master your game. And with convenient QuickFit bands, you can change your style without tools to match your activity, so you’re always in fashion.
Play Longer
With up to 10 hours of battery life while golfing — or up to 10 days in watch mode — your Approach S60 is sure to keep up with you. In fact, use for more than just golfing with preloaded activity profiles for running, cycling, swimming and more. And with activity-tracking features, including the move bar, vibration alerts, calories and steps, the Approach S60 will help you stay fit, day in and day out.
Personal Timepiece, Personal Touches
Sync the Approach S60 to your compatible smartphone³ to get smart notifications for incoming calls, texts, emails and other alerts. Connect in more ways, too, including the Garmin Golf app, which allows you to compete on leaderboards on any one of our 40,000 courses with friends. Download custom watch faces, apps and widgets from the Connect IQ store. And customize your watch face with any photo from your mobile device with the Face It app.
Keep Track. And Keep Score
With more sensors to improve detection accuracy, AutoShot game tracking automatically detects¹ along the fairway and records distances for post-game analysis on Garmin Connect.
Know Your Course
Get precise distances to each location on the course, as well as PlaysLike Distance, which adjusts yardages to account for uphill and downhill shots so you can select the best club for the situation. And with Touch Targeting, you can touch any point on the map for precise measurement to that exact spot — including fairway, sand traps, water hazards and more.
Reach the Pin
Green View gives you each green’s true shape from wherever you are on the course, and it allows you to manually drag-and-drop the pin into the correct location for the day for greater accuracy. PinPointer even tells you the direction to the pin when you have a blind shot.
Know Your Swing
Pair your Approach S60 with the Garmin TruSwing golf swing analyzer to get swing training, including swing speed and club path angles. By understanding what your swing is doing and how it impacts ball flight, you can improve the consistency of each swing.
