User questions & answers

Question: The gps works in south america (colombia
Answer: Yes, you can
Question: Does this computer can show the speed using GPS or it needs a speed sensor to display speed
Answer: yes. they come with 2 different rubber ear piece styles each in large, medium and small. The ones that fit me best were the mediums. there was a triple ribbed style for the ear piece where the small size was very small and flexible so i could imagine it would fit very small ear canals.
Question: Whats the difference between the Rider 320 and 420. and does the cadence better work as a power metter
Answer: I would NOT recommend these for side sleepers, if you plan to leave them in while you sleep. The wires could tangle, and at least, tear out of the earbuds, and at worse, strangle although they are not that thick. Also the stiff wire which goes behind the ear could be uncomfortable. Otherwise, for using while awake, these earbuds are great.
Question: What exactly comes in the bundle? Is the heart rate monitor included
Answer: Yes. I wear sun glasses for protection all day with these in my ears 6-8 hours for work, doing ,lawn mowing, running chainsaw and any general work. Sometimes when it is hot it is good to take them out for a break for me the glasses help a little bit to keep the buds in.

Answer: In my experience, under normal use the nylon strap doesn't retain a lot of moisture. I usually sponge off any excess moisture and it dries off pretty quickly. I haven't gone swimming, but expect that might cause more retention.
Question: Does the "device only" package include any mounting hardware
Answer: Good vibration strength!

Performance GPS Cycling Computer with Mapping and Touchscreen
Navigate Every Turn

Edge 830 is preloaded with the Garmin Cycle Map, including turn-by-turn directions and navigation alerts that notify you of upcoming turns. Use the bright, responsive touchscreen to create new rides and courses right on the Edge device. To help you ride like a local, popularity routing chooses from the roads and trails most traveled by fellow cyclists. And Edge 830 is smart enough to guide you back to the route — or back to start — if you deviate from it or decide to head home early. And with route calculation speeds 2 times faster than previous models, you’ll spend more time riding, not waiting around.

Know What’s Ahead with Trailforks

The Garmin Cycle Map on Edge 830 comes with integrated TrailForks trail data. And with the preloaded Trailforks app from the Connect IQ Store, you can seamlessly sync your rides planned on Trailforks right to your Edge. Trailforks features trails from more than 80 countries, including topographic information, points of interest, heatmaps, trail conditions and much more. It will even guide you to appropriately graded trails based on your technical ability. And when you stop mid-ride, the new Forksight mode automatically displays upcoming forks in the trail, and gives you context by showing where you are within a trail network. Wherever you ride, you’ll have access to the best, most up-to-date information so you can have a smooth ride — no matter how challenging the trail.

Own Every Jump

With Edge 830 on your stem, you’ll capture every bragworthy stat. It tracks the epic details with new MTB dynamics such as jump count, jump distance and hang time. So, when you huck an incredible 20-footer, you’ll have the recorded data to prove it. Edge 830 also has ratings for Grit and Flow. Grit rates the difficulty of a ride using GPS, elevation and accelerometer data. Flow measures how smoothly you descend a trail. These metrics are visible in the activity summary at the end of every ride and are color coded on the map of your tracklog on our Garmin Connect online community, so you know your score to beat next time.

Take Your Training to the Next Level

Your Edge 830 device goes beyond data collection — providing dynamic performance insights that can help you beat your best. See how your body is holding up in different environments with heat and altitude acclimation (when paired with compatible sensors). Get in-ride notifications when it’s time to hydrate or eat. See if your last 4 weeks of riding were balanced in terms of endurance, threshold and high-intensity efforts. When paired with compatible Garmin sensors, you can even access power curve, a new power tracking metric. No matter where you train, you can sync structured workouts from Garmin Connect and TrainingPeaks right to your Edge. You can also view your upcoming training for the week and launch into the relevant workout seamlessly when required.

Climb Like a Pro

Climbing can become your secret weapon with Edge 830 and the new ClimbPro feature. It automatically shows the remaining ascent and grade when you’re climbing while following a route or course. This helps you gauge your effort over the course and see how much you have left to suffer.

Ride with Confidence

When you’re cleaning the rock garden at 20 miles per hour, you need a device that takes safety seriously. Edge 830 allows for group messaging and tracking, so you can stay in touch when your friends are out of sight (when paired with a compatible smartphone; see safety and tracking features requirements and limitations). It also has the assistance feature, which allows you to manually send your location to emergency contacts if you get into difficulty. For even more awareness, pair Edge 830 with our Varia rearview radar and lights so you can see and be seen. And the new PIN-protected bike alarm will notify you on your smartphone if your bike is moved while you’re inside getting water or making a pit stop.

User questions & answers

Question: does the "unit only" come with any bike mount
Answer: Yes, buying the “unit only” for the $199 does give you a basic mount system. Essentially what it is is a mount that is then held on with a couple of sturdy rubber bands that as of so far I’ve had no loss in faith for keeping the garmin securely on my stem.
Question: anyone used this for a century ride and did it have enough battery life
Answer: I just used it on a 5 hour ride over 137 kms with a few stops along the way. I had auto pause so it never switched off. I am using gps only (no Glonass etc) and a RideSense speed and cadence sensor and it had a Bluetooth connection going to my phone the whole time. At the end of the ride I estimate it had about one third battery left based on the icon. Hope that helps.
Question: Will this work with my existing Garmin heart rate strap
Answer: Yes, this product will work with your Garmin HRM.
Question: Can you pause a ride and charge it before finishing a ride and it counts as one ride. My edge 25 instantly ends any ride in progress if charging
Answer: I tried this out on mine, to see if I could tell. If you plug it into a cable that is not connected to a computer (just a USB charging port), then it will not interrupt your ride, as far as my attempts went. However, if you connect it to a computer where it triggers the USB/data connection, it does seem to interrupt the ride. So, any method that charges it without causing a data connection - this should be good.

Garmin Edge 130 - Compact
Small but Powerful

Whether you ride on singletrack, open roads or city streets, Edge 130 is the perfect riding partner. Its compact, lightweight design features a 1.8” mono Memory in Pixel (MIP) display. That means you’ll get a completely crisp view of the screen, even in direct sunlight when you’d normally be squinting at your smartphone screen. You can even customize the display to show up to 8 data fields on each screen. And don’t let its slight stature fool you — Edge 130 is packed with additional features and gets up to 15 hours of battery life between charges.

Navigate with Ease

Wherever you ride, the Edge 130 bike computer captures your essential stats. With help from GPS, GLONASS and Galileo satellites plus a built-in barometer, it tracks how far, how fast and even how high you’ve ridden. Improve Your Performance

The Edge 130 bike computer is designed to help you amp up your performance so you can strive to improve with every ride. It’s compatible with power meters, letting you see how many watts of power you’re producing on a flat section or a steep hill. Understanding where you are producing power helps not only with training, it also makes for a more epic ride. And you can make every ride a little more interesting by racing in real time against Garmin and Strava Live Segments, giving you that extra nudge to really push yourself.

Smart Connections

When using a compatible device, Edge 130 lets you keep your phone safely tucked away and still stay connected while you’re on the bike. Text messages will appear on your device screen so you can see them at a glance and keep right on riding. Know if you’re about to get rained out by using the weather page to keep tabs on current weather and forecasted conditions. And remember — you can automatically upload your rides to the Garmin Connect online community, and even customize your device from our Connect IQ store by downloading configurable data fields such as the GU Fuel Reminder or Strava Suffer Score.

Increased Cycling Awareness

That’s why Edge 130 is compatible with our Varia line of cycling awareness devices, including rearview radar and smart bike lights. By pairing these devices with your Edge bike computer, you can get alerts to approaching cars — right on your Edge display — and help drivers see you. Edge 130 also lets your friends and family follow your real-time location with the LiveTrack feature. And if you happen to run into difficulty during a ride, the Assistance feature, when using a compatible device, can quickly send your current location to chosen contacts so they know where to find you.

Question: Do the turn-by-turn works without the cellphone

Question: How does this monitor your mph speed ? does it use the gps satellite portion or is there a sensor mounted to your forks
Answer: You can use either sensors or satellite.
Question: Is this a loaded item...does it come with speed sensor, cadence sensor and up front mount
