User questions & answers

Question: Does the heart monitor come with a chest strap
Answer: Yes, it does.
Question: If i don’t paired with phone when i ride, can i download the data later at phone
Answer: Yes! The Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT contains onboard memory so that you can ride entirely without your phone and sync those rides later via WiFi. Please see our article below on syncing your device for more details: https://wahoofitness.yonyx.com/y/conversation/?id=086c1921-53dd-11e8-8f6c-bc764e10d166
Question: is the element bolt a stand alone bike computer or do I have to have my phone with me
Answer: It is a stand alone bike computer. It has GPS to track your speed and guide you on a route. (You can also link it to speed and other sensors on your bike.) Some of the features, such as re-routing to a new destination during the ride, would require your phone. You also need the phone to set up the computer and your data fields, which you only need to do before a ride. But aside from that, you don't need to have your phone with you.
Question: Hi, I need to see and know my heart rate on the screen. What do I have to buy axactively
Answer: Wahoo makes their own heart monitor strap. The TICKR and TICKRx should do the trick. I think any heart rate monitor strap will do as long as it can connect between Bluetooth or ANT+ though.
Question: Does it work with Varia
Answer: Yes
Question: does it come with a charger
Answer: No, it does not come with its own charger but you can plug the USB cable into most any USB port style charger, PC, laptop or even a powerbank to charge it.
Question: Will it automatically upload my rides to Stava through Bluetooth
Answer: Yes and no. When I finish a ride I turn bluetooth on on my phone and open the Garmin Connect app. It the phone usually syncs with the 520 plus and uploads the ride automatically to both Garmin and Strava. But sometimes I have to turn off the bluetooth on the phone and then turn in back on and then go into the Connect app and select sync for it to work.
Question: What is the standard mount that comes with the "unit only" vs. the mount with the mountain bike bundle? Seems like $50 more for a mount is alot
Answer: The unit comes with two mounts, both the standard quarter-turn style. One mount is the “out-front” bracket that puts the unit in front of the handlebars about 3 inches. The other is to simply mount the unit to anything you can put the rubber bands around (I use that one to mount the unit to the neck between the fork and my handlebars - it has two rubber band o-ring things that you wrap around and attach to itself). Long story short - it comes with everything you need to mount it to your bike.

User questions & answers

Question: does the "unit only" come with any bike mount
Answer: Yes, buying the “unit only” for the $199 does give you a basic mount system. Essentially what it is is a mount that is then held on with a couple of sturdy rubber bands that as of so far I’ve had no loss in faith for keeping the garmin securely on my stem.
Question: anyone used this for a century ride and did it have enough battery life
Answer: I just used it on a 5 hour ride over 137 kms with a few stops along the way. I had auto pause so it never switched off. I am using gps only (no Glonass etc) and a RideSense speed and cadence sensor and it had a Bluetooth connection going to my phone the whole time. At the end of the ride I estimate it had about one third battery left based on the icon. Hope that helps.
Question: Will this work with my existing Garmin heart rate strap
Answer: Yes, this product will work with your Garmin HRM.
Question: Can you pause a ride and charge it before finishing a ride and it counts as one ride. My edge 25 instantly ends any ride in progress if charging
Answer: I tried this out on mine, to see if I could tell. If you plug it into a cable that is not connected to a computer (just a USB charging port), then it will not interrupt your ride, as far as my attempts went. However, if you connect it to a computer where it triggers the USB/data connection, it does seem to interrupt the ride. So, any method that charges it without causing a data connection - this should be good.

Ultimate GPS Bike Computer with Navigation and Connected Features

Ride longer and stronger while staying connected with the Edge 1030 GPS cycling computer. It features Trendline popularity routing, which uses billions of miles of rider data to show you the best on- and off-road routes. Whether you’re a competitor, commuter or an adventure-seeker, we’ve found a better ride for you.

Advanced Navigation with Garmin Cycle Map

Garmin is your guide, whether you like to ride on the road or off. Edge 1030 bike computer is preloaded with the Garmin Cycle Map and includes turn-by-turn navigation and new navigation alerts that notify you of upcoming sharp turns. While you ride, get information about elevation data, see points of interest and search for addresses. Round-trip routing will even generate a route for you. Simply tell Edge 1030 a distance and a starting direction, and it will give you a choice of up to 3 routes. And, of course, it’s smart enough to guide you back to the route if you deviate from it. When you’re planning long rides, you can count on your Edge 1030. It gets up to 20 hours of power, and with the new Garmin Charge integrated battery pack, you can keep your Edge running as long as you do.

Ride with Confidence and Ease

Edge 1030 works with our new in-line flush mount, which keeps your device in line with the handlebars, not above them. Not only does this give your Edge a lower profile, the mount also makes it effortless to switch out optional accessories such as the Garmin Charge power pack or any of our Varia line of cycling awareness devices. Edge 1030 is compatible with Varia rearview radar and smart bike lights to help create a safer riding environment. It also features built-in Incident Detection, which automatically sends your location to an emergency contact if you run into difficulty.

Popularity Routing Knows Where Riders Go

Since the Garmin Connect online community was created, cyclists have uploaded billions of miles of ride data. It’s time to put that data to good use with Trendline popularity routing technology. When Edge 1030 generates a ride for you, it finds the best route choosing from the roads (and trails) most traveled by your fellow cyclists. Or, use the improved and revamped Course Creator in Garmin Connect to generate additional bike-friendly routes based on popularity data.

Messages From Rider to Rider

No need to reach for the phone or worry about your fellow riders when they pull ahead or fall behind. Rider-to-rider messaging lets you send prewritten notes from your Edge 1030 to theirs. Let your friends know if you’ll catch up in a few minutes or if they should go on without you. If you have a flat tire or need assistance, you can send a message to your fellow riders paired with GroupTrack so they can find you.

Create the Ultimate Cycling Hub

Edge 1030 includes the latest navigation tools and is compatible with our expansive line of cycling accessories that let you measure key aspects of your performance, and awareness add-ons that can help create a safer riding environment. You can build your perfect ride network with Garmin, and it all starts with an Edge.

Strava Live Segments Help You Push to Perform

Garmin and Strava are bringing you even more ways to test your limits. You’ll still get alerts for segment starts and finishes and be able to virtually compete against your own PR and Strava friends with a redesigned second-by-second comparison that shows how you measure up. But now you’ll also be able to see how your current effort compares to your PR, your most recent efforts or the personal bests of your friends. And the new Segment Explore feature lets you view popular and Marquee Segments around you, directly on your Edge.
