9 best adapters for garmins
Adapters for Garmin devices, particularly GPS systems and finders, are accessories designed to provide various connectivity and charging options. These adapters help Garmin users ensure that their devices remain powered and functional during various activities, whether it's navigation, outdoor exploration, or fitness tracking. Here's what you should know about adapters for Garmins:
USB Cables: Garmin devices often come with USB adapters or cables for connecting the device to a computer or wall charger. These USB cables are used for charging the device, updating maps and software, and transferring data like waypoints and routes.
Car Chargers: Car adapters for Garmins are designed to plug into a vehicle's 12V power outlet (cigarette lighter) to keep the GPS device charged while on the road. They are convenient for longer trips and ensure your device remains operational during your journey.
AC Power Adapters: AC power adapters are used to charge Garmin devices from a standard wall outlet. They often come with a USB port to accommodate the USB cable that connects to the GPS unit.
Docking Stations: Some Garmin GPS devices have docking stations that serve as charging cradles and provide a stable platform for the device. Docking stations may also have additional features like data synchronization.
Outdoor and Portable Chargers: For outdoor enthusiasts or those who use their Garmins in remote locations, portable power banks or solar chargers can be part of an adapter kit. These allow users to charge their devices while away from conventional power sources.
Adapter Compatibility: Ensure that the adapter you choose is compatible with your specific Garmin device model. Garmin devices may use different connector types or require adapters tailored to their unique requirements.
Data Transfer: In addition to charging, some adapters may also facilitate data transfer between your Garmin device and a computer. This is important for updating maps, firmware, and transferring saved routes or waypoints.
Power Ratings: Pay attention to the power ratings and voltage compatibility of the adapters to ensure safe and efficient charging. Using the wrong voltage or amperage can damage your Garmin device.
Water Resistance: If you plan to use your Garmin device in wet or rainy conditions, consider adapters that are water-resistant or waterproof to protect against moisture damage.
Third-Party Adapters: While Garmin provides its official adapters and accessories, there are third-party options available. However, be cautious when using third-party adapters to ensure compatibility and safety.
In summary, adapters for Garmin devices play a crucial role in keeping your GPS systems and finders functional and charged. Whether you need to power your device in the car, at home, or in the great outdoors, choosing the right adapters ensures that you can rely on your Garmin device for accurate navigation and tracking.

- YOUR SMARTPHONE - ANY GARMIN MOUNT: By utilizing the same quarter turn system as the Garmin Edge series it allows you to mount your smartphone to any Garmin Edge mount. This creates a simple Garmin Phone Mount and affordable way for you to attach your smartphone to your bikes handlebar. Now all of your favorite cycling apps can be readily visable on your handlebar.
- STRONG & SECURE: In development, we went with "no compromise" approach to ensure maximum strength of the unit. From our testing we found that 3M's patented VHB adhesive was by far the best option on the market for our garmin cell phone mount. Testing from independent labs verified this when they showed that it takes a max pull force of 27.5 KGF to remove the adhesive from the unit.
- SLEEK PROFILE: Traditional handlebar mounts for your smartphone are typically heavy and outright ugly. The Universal Phone Adapter offers a strong design while only weighing 7 grams and adding 6 mm in height to your smartphone. Now you can show up to your local group ride with out fear of getting mocked for having a bulky iphone setup on your handlebar. Show up with style and class at your next group ride.
- SIMPLY RAD: Our smartphones have reshaped our daily lifes, why not let them help revolutionize our cycling experience? By utilizing cycling specific training apps for outdoor and indoor training such as Strava, Zwift, and TrainerRoad we can use data to take our training and racing to a whole new level. Give your fellow Zwift mate a ride on, smash that TrainerRoad interval, and most importantly go take your local KOM.
User questions & answers
Question: | I have an htc one m8, which has a slightly curved back. will this adhere securely to this phone |
Answer: | Well I do mtv for race and work perfect |
Question: | is the shell of this hard plastic where i can put a screw through it for a inverted mount for the garmin headlight |
Answer: | Yes it would work however, the surface the mount attaches to must be smooth and not textured or silicone or it won’t stick. I had issues with some phone cases |
Question: | Would these work with xoss mounts? it looks like it could work. i want to attach a small bluetooth speaker |
Answer: | I don't own this product yet, but I do know the 3M VHB adhesive tape does not work well with TPU, Silicone, and other "soft touch" materials. Use a PU-style case for best results. Some cases (Incipio DualPro) have dual layers combining shock-absorbing materials with a PU back. |
Question: | Which iPhone/cell phone case materials adhere best with the adhesive |
Answer: | of course not! Where in America you can manufacture plastics and harvest metals?! Funny question, but NO it is made in CHINA. Almost all electronics made in China. |

User questions & answers
Question: | my car does not have a cigarette lighter conection but does have 12 voly and usb connectors. Does this device connect with 12 volt and usb to chargej |
Answer: | I have the Garmin Nuvi 50, and the cable that comes with it - and this one - is absurdly short. It doesn't reach from the cigarette lighter/12 volt plug and the windshield. My brother-in-law had a generic usb-to-usb mini, and it worked just fine. I have also used the cable from my old BlackBerry phone (which is also USB mini), and it worked fine too. It is NOT unique, and you should not have to rig anything up. A nice length USB to USB mini should work just fine. You can also connect/charge this at home, with any plug that has a USB mini end. |
Question: | will this work on the Nuvi |
Answer: | I can't answer this for sure. I would assume that all garmin power cords are universal but do some more research. |
Question: | Will this work on Garmin Nuvi 255 GPS |
Answer: | We purchased 2 of these as replacement chargers on our 4 different Nuvi 225W and they work just fine. |
Question: | Will this work with a Garmin Nuvi 200w |
Answer: | I do not know specifically, but read a comment from someone else that said it did work well with his old Garmin Nuvi 200 |

Question: | Will this work for charging my garmin rv 770 lmt-s |
Answer: | This AC Adapter is not designed for use with a Garmin RV 770LMT-S. For this model you would want the AC adapter with part number: 010-11921-17. |
Question: | does this use "contacts" to charge the hand unit or does it use the plug on the back, my plug socket on my hand unit is damaged internally |
Answer: | Uses plug on the hand unit |
Question: | is this a cradle style charger or is it just the cord that plugs into the back of the unit |
