Question:	From what I see in the reviews it seems that there is a problem with the cord getting to hot and the tip of it melting.Is there a better quality cord
Answer:	I've had no issues with the cord attached to the cooler itself but I did have an issue with the Schumacher PC-6 120AC to 6A 12V DC Power Converter that I purchased for indoor use. It ran hot and in less than 6 months it died (Amazon graciously allowed me to return it and gave me a full refund). I replaced it with a Wagan 5 Amp AC to 12V DC Power Adapter. While it gets a little warm, it runs much cooler than with the Schumacher adapter. In fact, the Igloo runs quieter and appears to be more efficient with this adapter. That said I think the power source may be the root cause of the issues that others may have with overheating/melting. I run my cooler inside, all day, everyday as it serves as my office refrigerator and I've had it since last November. I love it and will buy another on the sad day planned obsolescence kicks in.
Question:	Why is the larger unit cheaper than the smaller unit
Answer:	Really don't know but I found out that the larger one keeps cooler much longer and at a lower degree.

Answer:	Working current, battery consumption is between 3.5 to 4.8 Amps according to the owner's operating manual. The current draw is 6 amps maximum at 12-volt DC. I hope this is helpful.

Answer:	This unit will keep things about 20 degrees cooler than the outside temp at best. I freeze a couple of water bottles or a freezer pack and it will keep things cold much better. Takes about 10 hrs or more before the frozen bottles melt enough to drink with the outside temp at over 90 degrees.

Answer:	Love this product. It uses 40 watts as it runs. From the time it plugged in It took about half a day to freeze ice cubes and using a single deep cycle Battery ran without recharging for three days. I take it camping. As far as I know, any refrigerator or freezer will not run properly in cold weather but you might be safe at 40 degrees. 80 is no problem.

Answer:	Mine runs at about 50 watts when it is running. Once cold it runs for about 3-4 minutes then shuts off for about 22-23 minutes then repeats. Mine is set for economy mode at 4C on my boat down here at Key West Fl. I really like mine as a small fridge. Makes a big difference living on my boat with only solar power to keep the batteries up. With 2 100 watt panels my batteries are charged by 11:00-11:30 in the morning.

Answer:	For anyone interested in current draw, I ran a test over 24 hours with a watt meter. The ambient temp was about 21 C (68 F) and the refrigerator was set to 0 C (32 F). In the 24 hours I opened the unit about 6 times to measure the temperate of items inside with a non-contact thermometer. Temperature of items maintained about 3-4 C. The current draw was just over 12 amps over the 24 hours. This gives an average draw of about .5 amps/hr. This will be higher if the ambient temps are higher of the temp of the unit is lowered.

Question:	How long is the provided power cord that goes in the 12V receptacle? Can you purchase a longer one if needed
Answer:	About 90 inches to the end of the 12V plug (the plug itself is about 4 inches, so I'd subtract that from the distance the cooler can be from the receptacle). I did not look for a longer one, but I did purchase an adapter that would allow you to plug into a standard 120V outlet. The end that goes into the cooler is hardwired, so you couldn't replace it but I'll bet you could by an adapter to extend it.

Answer:	Yes 2 gallons standing and I put 4 lbs of ice just in case, but the ice did not melt

Answer:	As of 2019, I only received the 12 volt plug that goes into the cigarette lighter. I saw more people saying that they received both compared to those only receiving the 12V which comes attached to the cooler. I had to buy the 120 volt cord as I will need that to plug into my solar as my 12 volt power sources do not work.

Answer:	This is a guess but since the exhaust fan is on the lid along with the cords, I wouldn’t want water getting in and pooling around these connections. I might be wrong but I wouldn’t take the a chance if doing damage.

Answer:	I have only used it briefly in my car while driving to and from places and it was fine. I use it mostly as my refrigerator at home since mine blew out months ago and I had been using a styrofoam one while awaiting a new refrigerator until this arrived not long ago and I love having cold things now! The ice in the cooler just didn't do the trick every day for over 3 months until I got this! Granted my cold food storage is extremely limited with this small size and it's not for frozen foods or ice only cold items or you can switch to warm also. I like the entire concept! But I would never recommend leaving any electrical plug in item in a vehicle while unattended and the car is not running unless you read your manual for your car. Why? Because I learned the hard way that with my car something as simple as leaving the door and trunk open with the car not running drained the battery! Which seemed like it should not drain a battery but my car said that it would overload the battery if the car was not running so I had to have my battery jumped. Nothing was wrong with my batter it was made that way and the manual stated so which I never read the manual but I know better now and I try to always read the manual for things! Also, I do know that many car batteries and alternators both could possibly be drained by any item plugged in and left running in a car with the motor shut off. There again it depends on if the car were able to generate separately the power to do that if the car were cut off since many are not able. So please be sure to read your car manual to be sure about anything you plug into your car and then you'll know for sure how your car's battery is supposed to function normally with something like this! You'll love the cooler and the warmer both however you choose to use it! Take care!
Question:	I want to use this at home and charging everyday to maintain room temperature for my vitamins since I live in a very hot apartment. Is this okay
Answer:	I have been using this every day since I received it as a refrigerator since I don't have one. I live in a hot area and had been using a styrofoam cooler and buying ice each day for months which was not the best answer. I will let you know that there is no way to adjust the temperature on this model. It is preset and the fan/cooling and heating unit is at the top inside the cover. Your vitamins would not be maintained at room temperature. This is a cooler or a warmer. Now it is recommended in their directions as an option I believe for maintaining medications at cool temperatures. So if that is an option for you then you may wish to consider it otherwise you may wish to consider something that has a controllable temperature setting. I hope that you find the correct storage!

Answer:	Don't make the same mistake Djedefre made running at 12 volts they're made to perform as high as 15vdc That's where he lost his capacity. And you definitely need heat sinks attached properly up to both sides. I'm going to buy a mess of them and some meat sinks and fans and make a cooler for the truck. Good luck with yours.

Answer:	Mine have no code under the number which is Tec1-12706. But they do appear to have Silicone type material on the edges

Question:	Can I use these in a series
Answer:	Two answers - both yes. 1) Electrical series does work. If you have 120V, you could put eleven in series to drop the voltage. A Bridge rectifier would be needed to convert AC to DC2) Thermal series - yeahhh.... but due to their low efficiency its hard to justify. For very small BTU or heat/cold transfers it does work. Note 100 w moves 10w of heat. Then you need another 100 watts to move 10W of heat. There are better ways to create cooling like upgrading to 12710 which does fit. Both are 40x40 mm. Thought - increase the airflow or use a liquid on to help cool the hot side if you want cooling or heat the cold side if you want heat. Water holds 500 times more heat than air alone. Answer:	Read my review of the Coleman Hot/Cold 40 Qt. Had a Coleman from 2000 that finally died due to a design flaw that allowed the fan to bind in the nacelle/ housing. Bought a new one that lasted 10 weeks. Finally got my refund 4 months later. Can't compare it to this one, but some of the other answers here are misleading. This product is not a portable refrigerator. Those have thermostats and use a compressor. Peltier devices are power hogs - about 5% efficient at transferring heat. So, 95% of the heat you feel on the exhaust of these is produced by the Peltier device, not from inside the cooler. Also, some heat is transferred through inefficient insulation. That's why it takes hours to remove heat from the interior of these coolers before you can start using them.
Question:	Does this actually cool to 40 degrees or does it cool to 40 degrees below ambient temperature? That is a huge difference it gets to 100 where I live
