Crosley C8 2-Speed Belt-Driven Turntable with Built-in Switchable Pre-Amp, Walnut

Crosley

Based on 55 reviews Check latest price

Product description

When designing the C8 turntable, Crosley started with a philosophy that they firmly believe in: less is more. Starting with the plinth, Crosley wanted to create a more substantial look so they used a bigger piece of audio grade MDF and wrapped it in handsome Walnut veneer with subtle branding. On/off and speed selection (33 1/3 and 45 RPM) is controlled by one anodized knob that helps maintain the clean, understated silhouette. To help with Rouge vibration that could affect sound quality, we isolated the motor and use an external belt to spin the full-size aluminum platter. The aluminum tonearm matches the platter and is outfitted with a counterweight, anti-skate control and removable head shell, letting you customize your setup if you don't want to use the pre-mounted moving magnet cartridge and stylus. Of course, there's a removable dust cover to keep the enemy at bay, a built-in switchable preamp, and RCA outputs to easily hook The Crosley C8 turntable up to your speakers or sound system. (Compatible with Crosley NP5 replacement needle)

User questions & answers

Question: Can I plug this turntable into powered speakers and have sound or do I need a receiver
Answer: You can use it in both ways.
Question: I have always owned belt drive turntables. I have read that direct drive can be noisy. How is this one as far as rumble
Answer: My previous turntable was a very nice AR belt drive table, and I had the same concern about direct drive rumble. Not any more. The AT-LP120XUSB is dead silent. It sounds incredible.
Question: So, since this turntable has a built in preamp, does this mean I can use passive speakers? Or do I need powered speakers
Answer: No. You'll need powered speakers or you'll need to plug it into an amp to use passive speakers. "Preamp" = pre (before) amplifier. Preamps and phono amps take the very low signal from the stylus and amplify it to a level that an amplifier can use. AND (the reason record players need phono-specific preamps instead of a standard preamp) the preamp/phonoamp also decodes the RIAA format that all albums since the 1950s use, which is proprietary and needs a specific type of decoding to play the music.
Question: Ok,..in plain english,...can i plug this tt into external speakers? that's all i want it for. if yes,...what type of speakers
Answer: Yes you can... The turntable has a built-in preamp. You want to buy powered speakers. They sell tons of them now. The best I have heard were KRK powered speakers. To get a good idea of what’s available, check out the needledoctor or crutchfield websites.

Crosley C6 2-Speed Turntable, Vinyl Turntable w/ Built-in Pre-Amp & Adjustable Tone Arm - Walnut

Crosley

Based on 235 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Crosley C6 is a fully manual two-speed turntable created to give music fans a true analog experience. An audio-grade MDF plinth is wrapped in veneer to suit your style, and since weight helps keep vibration at bay, a heavy steel platter provides a solid seat for your vinyl during play. Housed underneath the platter, a low vibration synchronous motor connected via belt spins records at both 33 1/3 and 45 RPMs - simply move the belt from one groove to another to change speeds. Dial in the tracking force with the adjustable tonearm counterweight and then use the cueing lever to gently drop the needle on the record to fill the room with the warm sound of vinyl. The C6 comes with a moving magnet cartridge preinstalled, but uses a standard mount so you can upgrade as your vinyl collection grows. Connect speakers or your receiver to the RCA outputs on the back, flip on the built-in preamp (or use your own) and you're ready to jam. (Compatible with NP5 replacement needle.)

  • CLEARER SOUND: This turntable uses audio grade MDF plinth & a low vibration motor to create a clearer sound.

Don't Blend In

We get our moniker from Powell Crosley, a pretty radical guy from the 1920s who knew music was for the people and created a radio for everyone. In keeping with his tradition and entrepreneurial spirit, we decided the vinyl experience was also for everyone. Our first turntable was released in 1992, when CDs were still king. Naturally, everyone thought we were nuts. But now, after over 30 years of bringing stylish music to the people, we're one of the biggest manufacturers and trendsetters of the new-millennium Vinyl Resurgence.

Amplify Your Style.

This is our mantra. Expression is a part of everything we do, not bound by time or age. From art to clothing to spaces, even the things we share on the internet are all part of our worldview. Why should music be any different? Colorful and fun, sleek and modern, funky and eclectic: there's a Crosley for everyone.

Be Seen. Be Heard

Crosley is stepping up to a new stage. We're listening to music, to the world, and we're listening to you. Taking cues from awesome feedback from music lovers everywhere, Crosley is taking on the future with a heart of adventure. With the evolution of the C-series, we've turned a new side, and the needle's ready to drop. Tune in with us, it's going to be a wild ride.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the difference between fluance rt84 and fluance rt
Answer: I am confused by some of the responses as from my research, the RT84 is about $115 less, not $50, and BOTH TTs have the Ortofon Blue, which is really hard to believe with the Fluance RT84 being under 385 bux!!!! That is even less than the renowned Pro-Ject Debut Carbon with the much less expensive (but also great) Ortofon Red cartridge. The only difference I can see is the heavier Acrylic platter on the 85 versus aluminum on the 84, and thus about a 2 pound weight difference on the two TTs. Maybe that is worth the extra $115 bux that I am seeing in the pricing right now, don't know. Definitely a good upgrade tho.
Question: Does this turntable have a dial where the rpm speed of the platter can be tuned or "dialed in" to perfect speed
Answer: No, the speed is controlled by: Precision Playback with Motor Isolation and Speed Control The servo-controlled belt drive motor with speed regulating optical sensor, continuously measures and adjusts variances in linear velocity and acceleration within a few hundredths of a percent for a wow and flutter of 0.07%. The decoupling of the drive from the plinth suppresses motor vibrations and noise from reaching the stylus. This maintains accurate speed and significantly reduces rumble so your records sound perfect.
Question: What is the size of the box (package) from RT
Answer: According to Fluance, the shipping dimensions for the RT85 are 8.25 x 17.5 x 19.5 inches (H x L x W). The weight is 20 lbs.
Question: Full auto
Answer: I have the RT85 and Yes, it has auto stop. There is a switch on the back of the turntable so you can choose auto stop or just let the album keep spinning when the stylus reaches the inner groove. This is really cool for the handful of albums that have something in the inner groove. A few examples are- The Beatles Sgt Pepper, Side 4 of The Eagles live, Ringo The 4th. They just keep going...

Product features

Pure Analog Performance

The Reference turntable delivers a warm, uncompressed listening experience, allowing you to get lost in the music. With no electronics in the signal path, from stylus tip to the gold-plated RCA outputs, for an exceptionally pure sound.

Ortofon 2M Blue Cartridge for Spectacular Accuracy

Beautiful playback from the nude elliptical 2M Blue cartridge featuring a rich, elegant, and natural sound. Adding greater dynamics and resolution, reproducing more detail while maintaining a flat frequency response for a pure sound without any coloration.

Clarity in the Sound with the Acrylic Platter

The high density and greater mass of the acrylic provide increased inertia to achieve a consistent speed, while damping unwanted vibrations by trapping and dissipating the energy. Acrylic has an analogous resonant frequency to vinyl records to aid in the cancellation of undesirable reverberations resulting in a 3-dimensional soundstage with improved bass definition, a richer midrange, and greater signal clarity.

Precision Playback with Motor Isolation and Speed Control

The servo-controlled belt drive motor with speed regulating optical sensor, continuously measures and adjusts variances in linear velocity and acceleration within a few hundredths of a percent for a wow and flutter of 0.07%. The decoupling of the drive from the plinth suppresses motor vibrations and noise from reaching the stylus. This maintains accurate speed and significantly reduces rumble so your records sound perfect.

Solid Wood Plinth For Superior Resistance to Vibrations

The mass-loaded multi-layered wood chassis inhibits the transfer of unwanted resonance through the system. The 3 rubber, spike-type adjustable isolation feet minimize surface contact under the turntable resulting in immunity to environmental vibrations, for greater low frequency signal pickup and improved imaging.

A Passion for Great Audio

Fluance has successfully revolutionized home audio. Utilizing only superior components and expert audio engineering, the Fluance Record Players are a testament to the performance that can be achieved when a passion for music takes center stage.
