Answer: You need to contact the seller direct but I would look for diskless servers or servers that have a single drive. What I’ve seen is there isn’t much difference in cost from those without and with drives. Buy the one with drives so you don’t have to purchase thedrive caddy
Question: How do i mount sff (small form factor) drives in this unit
Answer: HP make an adapter (I had to get mine from CDW since I couldn't find any on Amazon) - the HP adapters hold the drive right against the side of the bay so that the SATA pins line up with the socket at the back of the bay, generic 3rd party adapters don't work (I tried), since they generally offset the drive to the side which is fine if you've got a flexible cable connection, but not for the mounting in these. (You can "install" the drives without any adapter and let them hang in space but that's likely not the kind of installation you had in mind if you're buying one of these servers!)

Answer: See dell support. Find some online auction with tag numbers. Lots of info there. Location of pcie slot is factor also. Double thick gpu want fit inside on some. See youtube videos.

Answer: Yes, you can install CentOS; however, there seems to be many reported issues with this installation. I have personally installed Ubuntu Server 18.04.4, but that is an overall different distribution. Best thing I can recommend is entering your setup first and making sure that BIOS boot is turned on and not UEFI. Then delete any previous virtual disks that may be present and make a new VD configured for RAID 1,5, or 10 with all of your desired disks selected. Reboot the machine, with your bootable media installed, and then ensure to delete any existing partitions present. Hopefully this helps.
Question: Can i run centos 7 on them
Answer: Unfortunately it will not. This is a 2.5 R710 and the max you can put is 1.2TB. In regards to the 3.5 R710 model, we have tested it to work with 6x 4TB drives. If you need more capacity, I would recommend looking at the R720 or R520 3.5 machines

Answer: I don't have an acoustic measuring device handy, but I can tell you that this server is configured for a datacenter and will run at full cooling fan speeds all the time, regardless of load and temperature, and the fans are not the silent type.

Answer: If you were to want to fill it with 1 TB drives, they would have to be SFF (Small Form Factor) SAS drives. I can't link the example I wanted to, but search for 1 TB SFF HD on Amazon and you'll find it. SFF is an important distinction to make since these are Small Form Factor drives. You'll trade speed for the capacity, though. I'd add them, not replace the ones which come with this unit which are 10,000 RPM drives. You can purchase additional drive caddies. I know there are some sources, such as e B a y, which have them.
Question: Do you sell terabyte drives compatible with the dell poweredge server - r720xd 24 x 2.5" hard drives
