6 best wifi router with extended ranges
A WiFi router with extended range is a networking device designed to enhance the coverage and reach of a wireless network. These routers are built with specialized hardware and firmware to transmit and receive signals over longer distances compared to standard routers, providing a more extensive coverage area.
Key features of WiFi routers with extended range include:
Enhanced Coverage: WiFi routers with extended range are equipped with high-gain antennas and signal amplifiers to boost the signal strength and improve coverage throughout a home or office.
Dual or Tri-Band Technology: Many of these routers operate on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, allowing for better performance and reducing interference. Tri-band routers add an additional 5GHz band for further optimization.
Beamforming Technology: This technology enables the router to focus the WiFi signals in the direction of connected devices, optimizing the signal strength and coverage.
Mesh Networking Capability: Some WiFi routers with extended range support mesh networking, allowing you to expand coverage by adding additional mesh nodes that communicate with the main router, ensuring a seamless and strong WiFi signal throughout the entire space.
MU-MIMO (Multi-User, Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output): MU-MIMO technology enables the router to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously, improving the overall network efficiency and performance.
Quality of Service (QoS): QoS features allow you to prioritize certain types of traffic (e.g., video streaming, online gaming) to ensure a smoother experience for critical applications.
Parental Controls and Guest Networks: Many extended range routers offer parental controls to manage and monitor internet usage for children and the ability to create guest networks for visitors.
Easy Setup and Configuration: Manufacturers often provide user-friendly interfaces and mobile apps to make the initial setup and configuration of the router convenient for users.
When choosing a WiFi router with extended range, it's essential to consider factors such as the size of your space, the number of devices you'll be connecting, and the internet speed you require. A router with extended range can significantly improve your WiFi experience by ensuring a strong and stable connection in areas that might typically experience weak signals.

Answer: | Picture is wrong go with description.Has been a great Router |
Question: | I set up this router and my speeds droped up to 20 mbps compared to my 9 year old apple airport extreme. are there any settings i need to change |
Answer: | I didn't see any information in the manual about it being anything other than gen 1, but even then it didn't specify. However, if it was gen 2, they'd likely advertise that fact. So without any other evidence, I'd say gen 1. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use two off these (one to extend to backyard / patio, and the other to extend to 2nd floor which is on the opposite end of backyard / patio |
Answer: | If it's anything like the amped repeater/extenders (old REC10 for example) as long as you plug them within range of your router (REC10 recommends at least 70% router signal strength) you can have each extend your router's signal in the direction they are located. That gives you an access point at each (for example in opposite directions from your router, plus extending the wifi around each. In fact, I have extended my router's range by configuring one REC10 to extend another REC10 which is extending the router's original signal. I would be will to bet you can do all of this with this Netgear unit. |
Question: | does it have to externaly wired to the router |
Answer: | No. But it can be if your ability to extend diminishes quickly from the router due to walls, floors, tall furniture; etc. That's where wiring to the Extender (set to Access Point mode) helps |
Question: | Does this unit create a new network or extend current WiFi |
Answer: | It can be used in two different ways. If you just plug it into the wall and connect it to your existing WiFi, it creates a new SSID. Alternatively, you can run an ethernet cable to its location, where it will act as an access point to extend the existing wireless network. |
Question: | Anyone who did not receive this item free able to give it a good review |
Answer: | I straight out bought mine the old American way with my money, unhindered by any promotional or free offers. Also be wary of very good or very bad reviews wherein you do not see the words "Verified Purchase" by the posters name. I'm seeing a lot more of those these days and by my thinking they must be fake reviews because why would someone even post a review here on Amazon if they didn't buy it here? Makes no sense to me. Enough of that but yes I did buy it myself and had it almost a week now and am very happy and impressed with the NETGEAR N300 WiFi Range Extender (EX2700). Mine is fulfilling my purpose for it by providing a strong and solid WiFi signal to my AmcrestPro HD WiFi camera overlooking the outside of my house. My camera's live video feed is now constant and uninterrupted and my screens on my pc, my Android phone, and my laptop all no longer freeze up while I'm watching the live feed. The NETGEAR N300 WiFi Range Extender (EX2700) is a success for me. As for the bad reviews for it I can only surmise they are from user errors in trying to use this device. It's been solid for me and I'm thrilled with it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this the netgear ex2800 because some of the pics below has the antenna on it |
Answer: | You would need a Powered Antenna adapter. Basically the powered antenna hooks to the RP-SMA slot, then has the powered hub, and then you put a % dbi antenna on it and it'll get 2x more antenna strength. Even 2x more then what you'll use for a higher DBI antenna. So if you use a 24dbi antenna, it'd more be like a 48dbi antenna. So if you use double 10dbi antennas with the power adapter. that'll be more then enough to have signal strength to get all the house at max, even if |
Question: | I have not been able to get to the website to complete the set up process. When I called for the help, they wanted to remotely log into my laptop |
Answer: | This is a wireless access point not a router, that means that it only provides a wireless signal for computers, tablets phones etc. It must have a wired connection to it from the internet. It does not have a firewall so if you have a internet connection only at this time you should get a model with a router/firewall not this model. |
Question: | How would it deal with heat? Would like to put it in an outdoor outlet that has a waterproof outlet cover. Gets lots of morning sun |
Answer: | It's going to be connected to the same network and can have the same SSID. I use mine as an access point at the other end of the my house and gave it a slightly different name so I would know which device (my router also has wireless connectivity). I could always look at signal strength and tell the difference, but I like the slightly different name. |
Question: | Is this compatible with xfinity comcast router? also, how many units will i need to cover from our office to outside courtyard room |
Answer: | Also note that the ethernet port is only 100Mbit. So if your existing WiFi is usually capable of more than 100Mbit, for example your WiFi internet is 150Mbit or more, you will only get around 100Mbit or a little less to your ethernet device. You'd have to pay a little more money for a different device with a GigaBit ethernet port if you want to get anything more than 100Mbit out of this ethernet port. |
