7 best tp link router wirelesses
TP-Link is a well-known manufacturer of networking products, including routers and other computer accessories. The company offers a range of wireless routers designed to provide reliable and high-speed internet connectivity for homes and businesses.
Wireless Standards: TP-Link routers typically support various wireless standards, such as 802.11n, 802.11ac, and 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6). These standards determine the speed and range of the wireless connection.
Dual-Band and Tri-Band Technology: Many TP-Link routers support dual-band or tri-band technology. Dual-band routers operate on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies, allowing users to choose the best band for their devices. Tri-band routers add an additional 5GHz band, reducing congestion and improving performance in busy networks.
MU-MIMO Technology: TP-Link routers often feature MU-MIMO (Multiple User, Multiple Input, Multiple Output) technology. This enables the router to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously, improving overall network efficiency and performance.
Quality of Service (QoS): QoS settings in TP-Link routers allow users to prioritize certain types of traffic, ensuring that bandwidth is allocated appropriately for activities such as gaming, streaming, or video calls.
Security Features: TP-Link routers come with various security features, including WPA3 encryption for secure Wi-Fi connections, firewall protection, and guest network options to isolate guest devices from the main network.
Gigabit Ethernet Ports: Many TP-Link routers include Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired connections. This is especially useful for devices that require a stable and high-speed connection, such as gaming consoles or desktop computers.
Easy Setup and Management: TP-Link routers often come with user-friendly interfaces and setup wizards to make the installation process straightforward.Additionally, some models support mobile apps for convenient management and monitoring of the network.
Firmware Updates: Regular firmware updates are crucial for ensuring the security and performance of the router. TP-Link provides firmware updates that users can install to enhance the features and address potential vulnerabilities.
It's important to note that specific features and capabilities can vary between different TP-Link router models. When choosing a router, it's recommended to consider your specific needs, such as the size of your network, the number of devices, and the types of activities you'll be using the internet for. Always refer to the product documentation for the most accurate and up-to-date information on a particular TP-Link router model.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it work with MS Windows |
Answer: | Placement of the router is key, the center of the house would be best. That being said, mine is upstairs close to center of 2700 sf home, and get pretty good signal. 5G is a little lacking at the furthest points, but works. |
Question: | Will this work with TP Link one mesh |
Answer: | I have had the N900 for almost 2 and a half years and I am finding the limitation is really the number of devices and the amount of data it can handle. I am streaming HD content to 2 Xbox360's and 3 streams from an HD Home Run Prime Cable card tuner. I had to put both Xbox360's on the wired Ethernet because the wireless could not handle it. That is why I am looking at the AC68u. |
Question: | Will this work with Verizon router + modem combo |
Answer: | If I go to Asus website, you can pull up the specs for each. See http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68R/ and http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68U/ respectively. Best to do this in separate windows to do a side-by-side comparison.Though almost everyone will tell you both units are exactly the same, except that one is sold online and the other retail, I would have to ask then, "Why are there differences in the specs?" You might have noticed the first difference is in the classification of each unit when you clicked on "Compare List" at the top of the webpage. The RT-AC68U is identified as a WiFi "Router", whereas the RT-AC68R is identified as a WiFi "Client". I'm no networking guru but the specific name classifications would suggest that they are different. The argument or statement that one is retail and the other online could simply be an easy way out for Asus techs to explain the difference. As one person noted in the Q&A section, they purchased a "U" version from Best buy - the vary store that everyone is saying is the exclusive seller of the "R" version. LoL.As you scroll down the comparison lists of each, it would appear that both units are up and up, the same. But, compare and scrutinize the specs carefully.1) Under "Data Rate" the AC68R says "802.11n: up to 600Mbps", whereas the AC68U indicates "802.11n: up to 450Mbps" as well as "802.11n TurboQAM: up to 600Mbps". The AC68R does not mention TurboQAM in the specs.2) Under "VPN Support" the AC68U lists Open VPN Server, PPTP Client, L2TP Client, and Open VPN Client, whereas the AC-68R does not list any of these. 3) A couple of days ago, as I compare the lists, the AC68U showed "86x64" after each of the Windows OS systems under the "OS Support" section but the AC68R did not. That seems to have been updated and removed from the AC68U spec list.4) Also, as mentioned by others elsewhere on amazon and other websites, the AC68U lists DLNA under Management Support. Or it did until a couple of days ago. That seems to have also been removed. So, if both units are reported to be the same, then why are there noted differences in specs as noted in Asus own website? Would like to have an Asus engineer chime in on this. I would suspect that the "U" and "R" actually denotes a different version of the same model, where in the "U" is a more updated version.Update:I posted the same write up above to the Asus Tech Support. This is the answer I received from a tech, via email:"Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service. My name is Joe and it is my pleasure to help you with your problem.Thank you for your question. They are same. But the firmware of them are different and could not be installed by each other. And any other things like hardware are all same. Welcome to refer Troubleshooting & FAQ for ASUS products in ASUS website: http://support.asus.com/servicehome.aspx?SLanguage=en"If anyone can derive justification to say one is an "online" version and the other is "retail (exclusive to Best Buy) based on the answer provided by Joe, I applaud you. I still think the "U" and the "R" denotes different release dates (hence different firmware as claimed by Joe) of the same or similar models, which would also explain differences in published specs. So which unit is the more recent release with the most recent firmware? |
Question: | Can you bridge wifi and lan to use as a wifi card for lan only computers? router to router over wifi |
Answer: | Bottom line: 2300 sq. ft. two story house. In downstairs kitchen prior Linksys model, best you could buy a little over a year ago, signal went in and out with the router upstairs on the other side of the house. This gives me 28.7 Mbps on wireless in the kitchen, same as a direct ethernet connection in the computer room. I am amazed! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this easy to set up for someone who isn’t tech savvy? Needed only for doorbell camera for grandparents who don’t have a computer |
Answer: | The security gateway is intended to integrate with the UniFi platform and the integration is solid but still a little limited feature wise still. Administration of the gateway is literally done through UniFi; you don't really access the gateway directly. The EdgeRouters are their own standalone platform, development and web based options are farther along but no UniFi development. If you have a heavily Ubiquiti based network and want everything talking to each other, the security gateway is better. If you want to treat your router as a router and nothing more, the EdgeRouter line makes more sense. |
Question: | Which is the better buy: tp-link ac1900 or ac2600 - and why? (i'm not real hip to routers |
Answer: | The ability to use the VoIP port as a second WAN has been added to the latest controller software. The feature itself is currently in beta but seems to work in limited testing |
Question: | How does this archer a9 differ from the archer c |
Answer: | Yes, you can set it up in bridge mode. |
Question: | What is the coverage range |
Answer: | I use an Edgerouter (ER-POE5). I also use some products out of the Unifi line, like the Unifi Access Points with the Unifi Controller software installed on a Raspberry Pi. I don't specifically use the Unifi Security Gateway. I would say the main difference though is the way you manage the product. My EdgeRouter is more or less "standalone managed". It has a console port you can connect to, or you can manage it via the built in web interface, or you can SSH into it and use the CLI. Honestly, I really like the EdgeRouter because it does everything I need it to do very easily. It is capable of higher traffic volumes than this security gateway (my model does 2+ million packets per second), and it has great features like DHCP, a built in firewall, QOS, DNS, etc. It's relatively straightforward to figure it out. But it doesn't integrate into the "Unifi Controller" for centralized management. And that's really the big sell when it comes to the Unifi Security Gateway. You can install a single controller, and use that to manage all your Unifi devices. I have that installed to manage two access points. It may be a bit overkill for that. But, if you are at a school with a bunch of access points and switches (Unifi switches can also be managed through controller), then then Unifi Security Gateway might be nice if you want just a "single pane of glass". I would just look through the feature list carefully for the USG, and if it has the features you need, and if you are going to be buying all your switches and APs from the Unifi line also, then go for it as it may simplify your life. If this is going to be your only Ubiquiti product, then I probably recommend a standalone EdgeRouter that you manage directly. |
