Answer:	I can't say with any certainty that the ports are all 2.0 or 3.0 or one of each. I have only one peripheral that is a USB 3.0 and it doesn't work with the router because the router will not recognize it as a back up disk. I can tell you that one port is black on the inside and the other is blue if that helps. My understanding is that blue represents USB 3.0. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Answer:	I tried to mix the modem with the router and everything just slowed down. After some research I went back to the two items. I have a fast modem that doesn't need upgrading, but the router is a dual channel and the old one would only care part of the speed that I carry so trying this one and see if the 300Mps that I pay for is worth it.

Once you set it up for this first time, the device doesn't need to be connected to a computer at all, again if using for Wi-Fi aka access point. If you will be connecting to this router via its wired connections (4 LAN ports on the back), then you can connect a desktop, laptop, or any other device which has a network card with an RJ-45 connection; almost all computers have one, and video game consoles, and smart TVs.

Question:	I recently upgraded to Verizon gigabit and the modem router they give is lackluster. Does this just connect via Ethernet to the modem
Answer:	Yes. Connect the R7800 to the FiOS router (they don't use modems) by attaching an ethernet cable to one of the FiOS router's LAN ports, and the other end to any of the ports on the R7800. Then set up the R7800 in AP mode, and disable the Wifi of the FiOS router (not critical, but neater). The FiOS router will assign all the IP addresses, and the R7800 will provide wireless services. Works like a charm. You can use the LAN ports of both the FiOS router and the R7800 for wired connections.
