Question:	I recently upgraded to Verizon gigabit and the modem router they give is lackluster. Does this just connect via Ethernet to the modem
Answer:	Yes. Connect the R7800 to the FiOS router (they don't use modems) by attaching an ethernet cable to one of the FiOS router's LAN ports, and the other end to any of the ports on the R7800. Then set up the R7800 in AP mode, and disable the Wifi of the FiOS router (not critical, but neater). The FiOS router will assign all the IP addresses, and the R7800 will provide wireless services. Works like a charm. You can use the LAN ports of both the FiOS router and the R7800 for wired connections.
Question:	Is this device able to plug and play via ethernet cable from my cable modem to extend my cable wifi range

If you're just using this for WiFi only or if you don't mind a maximum speed of 100Mbit on the ethernet port, then buy it. Once you set it up for this first time, the device doesn't need to be connected to a computer at all, again if using for Wi-Fi aka access point. If you will be connecting to this router via its wired connections (4 LAN ports on the back), then you can connect a desktop, laptop, or any other device which has a network card with an RJ-45 connection; almost all computers have one, and video game consoles, and smart TVs.

Answer:	This is a router and will not work as a modem

Answer:	My internet provider brought me a modem; I added this router. I think i could have just attached the router directly to the receptacle in the wall but I haven't tried. Sorry I don't know exactly.

Answer:	I needed a wifi extender for the second floor. Without it, the signal reached but my speed would drop from about 50mbps right next to the router to the low single-digits upstairs with the door closed However, it covered the first floor pretty well (it was in a central location though). My house is 1,750sqft if that helps you at all. If you live in an apartment I think this will fit you well, if you have a multi-story house you may want to invest on a range extender or a mesh system
