Question:	How would you describe the 5GHz range and performance at a distance
Answer:	5 GHz band can be thrown only so far. It's not meant to be a long throw radio band but a short thrown band that is higher speed. If you want a stronger 5 GHz band for homes that are usually 4,000 sq ft or larger you may not have enough juice with this unit to cover your home unless you can place this in the middle of your house, which isn't always an option. I recommend getting range extenders/repeaters if you want to cover a very large home or property. Place your router near the middle of your home if you can and install extenders on opposite sides of the house. This will give you a wider throw and allow wireless connections well outside of your home if you would like good connection while out in your yard. If you live in a 2,000 sq ft house this should be powerful enough to offer a strong 5 GHz band no matter where you are. If you live in annolde home or highly insulated home then it's hard to say - radio waves diminish more when fired through walls/floors.
Question:	Can this handle multiple xbox ones with open nat
Answer:	Even the cheapest routers are fine upto about 128 sessions. This router does fine on 256 session. Unless you plan on having more than 256 Xboxes connected, this router will be fine. Your internet connection is a different issue.
Question:	Should I buy this router or keep my x8 router
Answer:	The X8 looks like it has more capacity. They're both mu-mimo and the x8 has 6 ports opposed to 4. One of the big reasons I bought this was the operating system (look up Netduma). So far haven't had any issues - even just watching youtube haven't had the buffering and quality issues I had just using my AC1900 modem router. If you're not having issues you may want to stay with what you got, but if you want the benefits of the dashboard and operating system, and have the money, you can give it a try,
Question:	Can this router just be used for other than gaming?. I don't do games
Answer:	Yes you can. dumaOS makes it easy to setup and configure your network and router settings. The dumaOS adds a bit more to the price vs the Netgear X4S (which is the exactly the same router in terms of hardware spec). Answer:	It should work fine. Keep in mind this is a gigabit switch and cat8 would more typically be used for 10gb networking but its all compatible.
Question:	Should this connect to arris tg1672g without any configuration on either side? the arris combines "..a 4-port gigabit router.." not working for me
Answer:	Your configuration should look like this: (Internet) Cable -> ARRIS TG1672G -> Port 1, 2, 3, or 4 -> Netgear 8-Port Switch Your Cable Modem provides 4 Gigabit Ethernet Ports and when you connect the Netgear 8-Port switch you lose 2 ports (one on the cable modem & one on the Netgear and end up with 10 Gigabit Ethernet Ports instead of 4. No configuration is needed. If one of the devices you're adding is a Wi-Fi router, then your configuration will look like this: (Internet) Cable -> ARRIS TG1672G -> Port 1 -> Wi-Fi Router -> Netgear 8-Port Switch. If you want all devices to be able to see each other, then you can have up to 7 of them plugged into the Netgear Router.
Question:	Do i have to have 1gig internet speed to have this or no
Answer:	No. It's top speed is Gigabit (1000 Mbps), but it will work with 10/100 Mbps devices well. It's not just limited to Internet but any devices that wish to communicate with each other i.e. computer to Network Attached Storage (NAS) device, etc ... and usually those devices have gigabit Ethernet ports so they can communicate with each other at the gigabit speeds.
Question:	how to get plug and play to work? 14 ports not putting out IP, have modem and wifi router connected, but cant get other ports to work
Answer:	Make your flow as follows: Modem -> Wi-Fi Router -> Netgear 16-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch. All your devices (up to 15 of them) will get their IP address from the Wi-Fi Router. You may also want to consider labeling your cables. I have two 16-port switches, one Unmanaged (for Internet) and one Managed (for private network), and all the cables are both color-coded and labeled.

Answer:	Hi TomKM. You are correct - 1 port is used to connect to the router leaving 4 available for other devices. The GS108 offers 8 ports & is just a tad larger than its little brother if you needed a few more ports.

Answer:	Yes Bertt, you can, and you definitely should, run a twisted-pair ethernet cable from your router to the switch. After you connect the router to the switch, you can run twisted-pair cables to any device that has an RJ45 ethernet port. You've probably maxed out on your router's RJ45 ports, and so adding a switch will greatly expand your capacity to distribute hard-wired internet access to every device in your house that has an RJ45 ethernet port. May I suggest that you buy a switch with as many RJ45 ports as you can afford. The more RJ45 ports your switch has, the more devices (computers, TVs, A/V receivers, DVD and Blu-Ray players, Xbos etc.) you can connect to it for fast, reliable, secure internet access. You won't be sorry that you buy a switch with extra ports. You may not need them now, but eventually you'll probably acquire other devices that have RJ45 ports. It you don't have your house already wired for ethernet distribution, your biggest challenge will be finding wiring paths to every location where you have a computer, TV etc. One last topic: how well you device operate after you've made all of the cable connections through the router to the switch will depend more on the speed of your router and on the speed of your Internet service. Answer:	Yes this devise will support Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6. Not that Cat5 does not support gigabit speed and is mostly found in older or systems not utilizing gigabit speeds. All systems i have worked on in the last 10 years are Cat5e or Cat6.

Question:	I recently upgraded to Verizon gigabit and the modem router they give is lackluster. Does this just connect via Ethernet to the modem
Answer:	Yes. Connect the R7800 to the FiOS router (they don't use modems) by attaching an ethernet cable to one of the FiOS router's LAN ports, and the other end to any of the ports on the R7800. Then set up the R7800 in AP mode, and disable the Wifi of the FiOS router (not critical, but neater). The FiOS router will assign all the IP addresses, and the R7800 will provide wireless services. Works like a charm. You can use the LAN ports of both the FiOS router and the R7800 for wired connections.
Question:	Is this device able to plug and play via ethernet cable from my cable modem to extend my cable wifi range
Answer:	Yes. All of these Netgear routers can either be used as range extenders OR wired into becoming the primary internet source for your home. The latter is actually recommended, if your cable modem is basic and/or sends a weaker than warranted WiFi signal.

Answer:	I don't own this router, but I'd agree with Apollo Grace. Anything that's going to be using this ethernet port will be bottlenecked at 100Mbit maximum. If you're just using this for WiFi only or if you don't mind a maximum speed of 100Mbit on the ethernet port, then buy it. But there are similar products out there for the same price range with Gigabit ports allowing the full WiFi speed to go through the ethernet ports. https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-AC1200-Smart-WiFi-Router/dp/B01IUDUJE0 (TP-Link Archer C1200) for example, and it's cheaper.

Question:	Can systems like these be linked in a line? I mean instead of the satellite units having to be within range of the router, can I daiseychain them out
Answer:	Regardless if Orbi can be daisy chained with wired cable ... if you can daisy chain routers, why not just set up an AP system. If you can hard wired the AP, there is no need for Orbi and you get much better performance. As to daisy chaining Orbi, yes, you can do that.. but that defeats the purpose of using Orbi. The main technological advantage with Orbi is its ability to have a 3rd backhaul channel through wireless connection. If you can using hard wired... just go with the proven WLAN AP (http://pigtail.azurewebsites.net/tp-link/large-building.PNG)... my organization use it to deploy over 200 wireless devices on the same lan without much overhead degradation.
Question:	Is it 100 - 240 Volts
Answer:	It all depends upon where you buy it. In the USA it is supplied with 115V power supplies one for the router and one each for the Satellites, this is OK of you live in the USA or somewhere where they have 115v power in the homes. If you live in the UK buy them in the UK they come with 240v power supplies, so they are OK for the UK, but come with the UK 3 pin sockets. In Europe theu come with two pin European adaptors suitable for Europes 220 v power. The problem is if you buy it in one country and want to run it in another. Netgear do not sell the power supplies separately. I bought mine in the Black Friday sales in the USA and brought them to the UK. I had to buy power supplies from Germany that were suitable for 240 volts and adaptors for continental to UK sockets. Be careful, you ned to know exactly what the pin size is the pin lengt and the pin inside and pouside diameters. To save you hassle you need Plug-in power supply unit, 12 V, 1000 mA, with -ve polarity on the outside The pin that plugs into the ORBI should be 5.5mm outside diameter and the socket 2.5mm inside diam. The length of the pin is 12mm.

Answer:	As of April/late May 2018, the latest firmware 2.1.4.10 has not only broken ethernet backhaul, but it also takes down your entire network such that no device can connect to the Internet if you leave the ethernet cable connected to satellite. There is no way to disable auto update of the firmware. I have had an open support case for nearly one month and have spent many, many hours in that time trying to troubleshoot. Never had this kind of issue with my Airport Extremes, which is no longer made, so I thought Orbi would be a good replacement given all the positive professional reviews. Answer:	No the Satellite does not have any Ethernet ports. The Router (base) has two gigabit Ethernet ports, one port for WAN (your cable modem) and one port for LAN (connect to a multiport switch, one hard wired device such as your laptop/desktop, a external backup hard drive, etc). I recommend connecting the LAN port to a Netgear 5-Port (model #GS205) or 8-Port (model #GS208) Unmanaged Switch. Each one is very in-expensive at $20 or less on Amazon. It’s a simple plug-and-play, no setup or configuration needed.
Question:	What's the difference between this unit (rbk20w) and the rbk30w? amazon says this is newer, but it is not on netgear's website
Answer:	There is no RBK30W model. Drop the W and there is an RBK30 model. It is identical in almost every specification as the RBK20W, the only difference being that the RBK30 has 4 Gigabit Ethernet Ports (1 WAN and 3 LAN) while the RBK20 has 2 Gigabit Ethernet Ports (1 WAN and 1 LAN). And there is a difference in price, $249.99 ($199.99 on sale now at Amazon) for RBK30 and $199.99 ($179.99 on sale now at Amazon) for RBK30W. Other than that they are identical.

Answer:	A repeater (extender) is installed by syncing to the main router. I have 2 which work very well - one in my kitchen and one in the master bedroom ( huge house).
