Question:	How would you describe the 5GHz range and performance at a distance
Answer:	5 GHz band can be thrown only so far. It's not meant to be a long throw radio band but a short thrown band that is higher speed. If you want a stronger 5 GHz band for homes that are usually 4,000 sq ft or larger you may not have enough juice with this unit to cover your home unless you can place this in the middle of your house, which isn't always an option. I recommend getting range extenders/repeaters if you want to cover a very large home or property. Place your router near the middle of your home if you can and install extenders on opposite sides of the house. This will give you a wider throw and allow wireless connections well outside of your home if you would like good connection while out in your yard. If you live in a 2,000 sq ft house this should be powerful enough to offer a strong 5 GHz band no matter where you are. If you live in annolde home or highly insulated home then it's hard to say - radio waves diminish more when fired through walls/floors.
Question:	Can this handle multiple xbox ones with open nat
Answer:	Even the cheapest routers are fine upto about 128 sessions. This router does fine on 256 session. Unless you plan on having more than 256 Xboxes connected, this router will be fine. Your internet connection is a different issue.
Question:	Should I buy this router or keep my x8 router
Answer:	The X8 looks like it has more capacity. They're both mu-mimo and the x8 has 6 ports opposed to 4. One of the big reasons I bought this was the operating system (look up Netduma). So far haven't had any issues - even just watching youtube haven't had the buffering and quality issues I had just using my AC1900 modem router. If you're not having issues you may want to stay with what you got, but if you want the benefits of the dashboard and operating system, and have the money, you can give it a try,
Question:	Can this router just be used for other than gaming?. I don't do games
Answer:	Yes you can. dumaOS makes it easy to setup and configure your network and router settings. The dumaOS adds a bit more to the price vs the Netgear X4S (which is the exactly the same router in terms of hardware spec). If you want to save a bit of money, go for the netgear X4S, which is also a fantastic router. Good luck.

Answer:	I don't think so. This is an 802.11AC router, not an 802.11AX (wifi6) router. AFAIK Asus has already released an 802.11AX version of this router model. Means, if you want the AX type, then you should order that type.
Question:	did they fix the bugs that everyone are talking about
Answer:	Yes, most bugs seemed to occur with June update. It took them until August to fix. Router now works as intended and better than my previous ac5300. GT 5300 is definitely a step up. Let's hope no more breaking updates.
Question:	Is there a port for using an internet sim card
Answer:	This router is for home internet, not cellular internet.
Question:	How is the range differ from Ac
Answer:	@29db If I remember correctly so the range is pretty good 2500 Square feet + should be expected. However, it's already been pulled out of my network. Personally, when adaptive QOS is turned on in my environment, the router reboots every few minutes to an hour including gigabit auto negotiation issues, etc. Again, the range is great but the software has made this a purchase filled with regret. Merlin doesn't have anything out for alternative firmware flavors for the rog rapture either. In short, I would recommend avoiding the headache until 3rd party firmware is able to address the instability issues and user reviews reflect that. In my case, this is the first ASUS network product I have purchased and it's going to be several years before I look back in their direction.

Answer:	My TP-Link products, including my Wi-Fi router, operate 'solidly'. I don't use 'Smart Connect', because my devices did not ask for, nor do they deserve, a buffet of choices. I do not use automatic channel, because I am waiting for automatic empty channel. As to Alexa, I bought a new Amazon fire tablet for My Lady, a 70 year old retired school teacher. The included Silk Internet browser is perfectly adequate for installing Chrome. I downloaded about 25 APKs and finally got the correct ones, in the correct order, which lead to upgrades and yada, yada. THAT gave her, her bookmarks and passwords!!! in Chrome. WELL, I cleaned up her Home page by putting just about everything into a folder1. And I left Alexa out there! She has Amazon Music on an Amazon tablet, and the Alexa is sitting on her home page. I am a Kindle and actual books reader and I left that on her home page, although she probably hasn't read a book in half a century. I can put her on Amazon Music on her own pages/playlists/favorites, but alas, my digital library cannot be shared without more work than I am willing to do, and I just side loaded APKs to load Chrome on an Amazon fire tablet. Still, she's going to make Alexa work for her, with timers and alarms and weather and Amazon Music, maybe. As to Alexa and a router, it would be way cool to command, "Alexa, log into my Wi-Fi router, go to Advanced, get to the DHCP Server, and reserve such and such MAC to such and such IP address, and make it active, SAVE, and reboot the router, and btw, Alexa, I am the Pope and you may kiss my ring."

Answer:	I can only comment on the 1900. For my needs it's perfect. I needed a router with long range, my house is apprx 3000sq with multiple floors. Certain areas of the house fell out of the range of my old Linksys. With the 1900 all my devices generate a full signal anywhere in the house and even outside in the back yard. The 1900 appears to handle multiple devices with no degradation of signal or speed. Since you didn't say what your needs are I can't comment further.

Answer:	There are 3 Primary channels, 1 for 2.4GHz and 2 for 5GHz. Each has its' own SSID out of the box.If you turn on the Smart Connect feature, this drops to a single SSID used across all 3 channels, and the router then decides which channel to put which device on. Works quite well so far!In addition, each of the 3 main channels has 3 possible Guest channels for a total of 9 possible Guest channels. I have not tested to see if Smart Connect works for the Guest channels as well, but I doubt it.So, to answer your question, if you're trying to annoy your neighbors......this CAN broadcast up to 12 total SSID's.
