| Answer: | This is a pretty decent modem/router. However I did notice some lag when I pushed it hard via Wifi. Specifically having 2 Apple TVs streaming, along with internet use, would cause issues. I do not see this lag when I use my R7000 router, and set up the modem in bridge mode. Overall, I would say this is the best modem/router combo I have used, but not as good as a high performance router - especially if you have a lot of Wifi devices. If your TV streaming devices are on ethernet, then this performs well, but Wifi is not as good as a high end router. |

| Answer: | @29db If I remember correctly so the range is pretty good 2500 Square feet + should be expected. However, it's already been pulled out of my network. Personally, when adaptive QOS is turned on in my environment, the router reboots every few minutes to an hour including gigabit auto negotiation issues, etc. Again, the range is great but the software has made this a purchase filled with regret. Merlin doesn't have anything out for alternative firmware flavors for the rog rapture either. In short, I would recommend avoiding the headache until 3rd party firmware is able to address the instability issues and user reviews reflect that. In my case, this is the first ASUS network product I have purchased and it's going to be several years before I look back in their direction. |

They are unfortunate souls....clueless. They couldnt make their ADSL2+ modem work. Come to find out they have VDSL and didnt know it. What a bunch of bozo's :) Once I had my PPPoE login and password the DM200 took it from there.Firewall test show the DM200 is totally stealth. DM200 is easy to configure and a great little Router/Modem combo. |

| Answer: | Yes. Connect the R7800 to the FiOS router (they don't use modems) by attaching an ethernet cable to one of the FiOS router's LAN ports, and the other end to any of the ports on the R7800. Then set up the R7800 in AP mode, and disable the Wifi of the FiOS router (not critical, but neater). The FiOS router will assign all the IP addresses, and the R7800 will provide wireless services. Works like a charm. You can use the LAN ports of both the FiOS router and the R7800 for wired connections. |

I did have issues with more than one extender on the same network using same SSID name as main router so I had to change one of the extenders to a different SSID. |

| Question: | How would you describe the 5GHz range and performance at a distance |
| Answer: | 5 GHz band can be thrown only so far. It's not meant to be a long throw radio band but a short thrown band that is higher speed. If you want a stronger 5 GHz band for homes that are usually 4,000 sq ft or larger you may not have enough juice with this unit to cover your home unless you can place this in the middle of your house, which isn't always an option. I recommend getting range extenders/repeaters if you want to cover a very large home or property. Place your router near the middle of your home if you can and install extenders on opposite sides of the house. This will give you a wider throw and allow wireless connections well outside of your home if you would like good connection while out in your yard. If you live in a 2,000 sq ft house this should be powerful enough to offer a strong 5 GHz band no matter where you are. If you live in annolde home or highly insulated home then it's hard to say - radio waves diminish more when fired through walls/floors. |

| Answer: | The X8 looks like it has more capacity. They're both mu-mimo and the x8 has 6 ports opposed to 4. One of the big reasons I bought this was the operating system (look up Netduma). So far haven't had any issues - even just watching youtube haven't had the buffering and quality issues I had just using my AC1900 modem router. If you're not having issues you may want to stay with what you got, but if you want the benefits of the dashboard and operating system, and have the money, you can give it a try, |
