I still have the instruction for either of them so the instruction says "Connect one of the Ethernet cable to one of devices then connect to the switch. It states that you can use any one port to connect so there is no special port for connecting the router.Mine connects to #1 port that connects to the router. After connecting to the router, check to see any flashing light on the cable. If the light is still flashing, it should be Okay.

Answer:	You will need a modem to transform coaxial cable to Ethernet. The modem is usually supplied by your ISP. You will likely be charged a rental fee for it. Answer:	Hi, yes, you can reset the repeater by pressing and holding the WPS button of the repeater for 8 seconds. The signal booster will restore to its factory settings. And then you follow the extender instructions to set up again and connect the repeater network to a new router and get a new internet network.

Answer:	Definitely have had really bad connectivity with this to the point where I can't use it any more due to reliability. Dropping WiFi calling, stopped media streaming, and just general disconnections means it is completely useless for the intended purpose. Then use this router as your wifi. Be sure to plug this router's internet port into one of the cable modem's Ethernet ports. The modem should assign your router an IP address. Then your good to go :)

Answer:	As stated by Land_Master and miker, usually a wireless router can be configured to function as a wireless access point (AP) by: 1.) Configuring the wireless router with an appropriate LAN IP address (for further configuration purposes), 2.) Ensure that the field computer, which you will be using for the configuration, is on the same LAN (IP subnet) and ideally connected to the wireless router via an Ethernet cable. This is necessary before the next step causes a communication outage. 3.) Disabling DHCP on the wireless router, so as to not cause a conflict or communication outage. AP Mode means that the network configuration source is the upstream router, either via DHCP or statically. 4.) Configuring the wireless network as may be necessary on the wireless router. It will be used in AP mode when the physical connection is made as described below. 5.) Plugging in the uplink cable to the upstream router to a LAN port (only) on the wireless router. Only one Ethernet cable should run between the upstream router and the wireless router configured in AP mode. Other LAN ports may be used to connect other wired client devices. Maybe you should tape over the WAN port to block it, in order to help remind you not to use it within this deployment. 5.) Allow a wireless station to connect to the wireless network running on this AP mode device. Confirm that it receives (or has) the appropriate network settings from the upstream router that defines the LAN/subnet configuration. Test connectivity over the wireless connection i.e. perform an Internet activity like pinging or web browsing or ideally both. All should be well if you have configured and physically connected as specified. Access points (APs) were often less easy to find and at higher costs than wireless routers. Flashing a router with DD-WRT or other open source firmware does allow powerful features such as configuring an AP mode and more on a wireless router. Answer:	Yes. Connect the R7800 to the FiOS router (they don't use modems) by attaching an ethernet cable to one of the FiOS router's LAN ports, and the other end to any of the ports on the R7800. Then set up the R7800 in AP mode, and disable the Wifi of the FiOS router (not critical, but neater). The FiOS router will assign all the IP addresses, and the R7800 will provide wireless services. Works like a charm. You can use the LAN ports of both the FiOS router and the R7800 for wired connections.

Answer:	Yes. All of these Netgear routers can either be used as range extenders OR wired into becoming the primary internet source for your home. The latter is actually recommended, if your cable modem is basic and/or sends a weaker than warranted WiFi signal.

Answer:	great question and only luck , wins here, no matter what store you buy from, box is sealed and only the bottom sticker of said router (any) shows HW versions, a2 is newest HW version.( or higher, some have 5 or more versions) might be only ESD upgrades , ask maker that. the more important fact in this topic is firmware upgrades we do day 1, new, out of box. do not use wrong upgrades A1 or A2 or what you have, or you will brick the thing. read the sticker and match the rom.bin file to correct version. just like on PCs or well , gee anything on earth with firmware inside..
