Answer:	It is (source code is available) but check with DD-WRT forums to see if there is working firmware. The D-Link firmware is encrypted so DD-WRT cannot be loaded via web UI. You will have to crash recover to install. Note the router will no longer be supported by D-Link and will void the warranty if you flash non-D-Link firmware on it. Answer:	great question and only luck , wins here, no matter what store you buy from, box is sealed and only the bottom sticker of said router (any) shows HW versions, a2 is newest HW version.( or higher, some have 5 or more versions) might be only ESD upgrades , ask maker that. the more important fact in this topic is firmware upgrades we do day 1, new, out of box. do not use wrong upgrades A1 or A2 or what you have, or you will brick the thing. read the sticker and match the rom.bin file to correct version. just like on PCs or well , gee anything on earth with firmware inside..

Answer:	As in, can a Linux computer connect to the wifi? If that's what you're asking, then yes. I had a Linux Mint computer when I was fiddling with this router. Worked fine. Router config using the web browser worked fine too. That being said, I returned the router. Range wasn't as good as my Asus router with no external antennae. But this D-Link is cheap, and taking that into consideration, it's probably okay. Also, doesn't work properly as an access point wired to an existing router.

The wlan produces a bit of gaussian noise to the cable, that is the why is better to use a cat6 or superior category. The ddwrt should not have problem setting up correctly your interfaces. Mainly your speed from the LAN to the WAN will depend of the security policies (firewall rules, etc), the speed settings of the WAN next hope (the other receptor device) and the electromagnetic interferences across the path of both links (lan and wan cables)
