I currently have my seagate free agent 300 MB hard drive plugged directly into it. It is mapped to my computer and my wife's computer under the U drive. I have transfered files to the hard drive and downloaded from the hard drive. The Linksys Connect utility allows you to search your router for connected devices.This confuses me because the instructions on the box say this feature is not supported, but I assure you it is. |

| Answer: | It will not control individual User bandwidth by IP ... well, will not control it exactly ... for each User. The Quality of Service programming allows the administrator to set different bandwidths to different VLANS (which in turn "controls" the bandwidth maximum all Users can enjoy in any given VLAN). This feature is a "limiting" feature, which allows you to split up the total bandwidth available from your ISP. Alternatively, each VLAN can be set with a Priority of use, so that more important functions can be given higher priority over non-essential functions on the network; this option allows full ISP bandwidth to be used, but just prioritizes it (and delays some of it) if you see periods of extreme usage higher than your ISP allows. So , technically, you can limit an individual's bandwidth, but depending on what you've got in mind for your entire network -- it may take some doing. |
