Question:	Does it work with MS Windows
Answer:	Placement of the router is key, the center of the house would be best. That being said, mine is upstairs close to center of 2700 sf home, and get pretty good signal. 5G is a little lacking at the furthest points, but works.

Answer:	I have had the N900 for almost 2 and a half years and I am finding the limitation is really the number of devices and the amount of data it can handle. I am streaming HD content to 2 Xbox360's and 3 streams from an HD Home Run Prime Cable card tuner. I had to put both Xbox360's on the wired Ethernet because the wireless could not handle it. That is why I am looking at the AC68u.
Question:	Will this work with Verizon router + modem combo
Answer:	If I go to Asus website, you can pull up the specs for each. See http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68R/ and http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68U/ respectively. Best to do this in separate windows to do a side-by-side comparison.Though almost everyone will tell you both units are exactly the same, except that one is sold online and the other retail, I would have to ask then, "Why are there differences in the specs?" You might have noticed the first difference is in the classification of each unit when you clicked on "Compare List" at the top of the webpage. The RT-AC68U is identified as a WiFi "Router", whereas the RT-AC68R is identified as a WiFi "Client". I'm no networking guru but the specific name classifications would suggest that they are different. The argument or statement that one is retail and the other online could simply be an easy way out for Asus techs to explain the difference. As one person noted in the Q&A section, they purchased a "U" version from Best buy - the vary store that everyone is saying is the exclusive seller of the "R" version. LoL.As you scroll down the comparison lists of each, it would appear that both units are up and up, the same. But, compare and scrutinize the specs carefully.1) Under "Data Rate" the AC68R says "802.11n: up to 600Mbps", whereas the AC68U indicates "802.11n: up to 450Mbps" as well as "802.11n TurboQAM: up to 600Mbps". The AC68R does not mention TurboQAM in the specs.2) Under "VPN Support" the AC68U lists Open VPN Server, PPTP Client, L2TP Client, and Open VPN Client, whereas the AC-68R does not list any of these. 3) A couple of days ago, as I compare the lists, the AC68U showed "86x64" after each of the Windows OS systems under the "OS Support" section but the AC68R did not. That seems to have been updated and removed from the AC68U spec list.4) Also, as mentioned by others elsewhere on amazon and other websites, the AC68U lists DLNA under Management Support. Or it did until a couple of days ago. That seems to have also been removed.So, if both units are reported to be the same, then why are there noted differences in specs as noted in Asus own website? Would like to have an Asus engineer chime in on this. I would suspect that the "U" and "R" actually denotes a different version of the same model, where in the "U" is a more updated version.Update:I posted the same write up above to the Asus Tech Support. Question:	Can you bridge wifi and lan to use as a wifi card for lan only computers? router to router over wifi
Answer:	Bottom line: 2300 sq. ft. two story house. In downstairs kitchen prior Linksys model, best you could buy a little over a year ago, signal went in and out with the router upstairs on the other side of the house. This gives me 28.7 Mbps on wireless in the kitchen, same as a direct ethernet connection in the computer room. I am amazed!

Question:	Does this actually support 5ghz? the amazon page says a/b/g/n, but then only lists 2.4. 802.11a is 5ghz only
Answer:	THis picture isn't like the extender I purchased. The one I got is white and was mounted in m y sunroom. However, the electrical plug quit working and I had to move in out in my breezeway. So far so good. Think I will put some kind of protection between it and the north open wall near it. Only time will tell how the exposure affects it.

Answer:	Only if the reason you are dropping WiFi calls is due to WiFi signal Strength. If you’re looking just to boost a cell phone signal they do make other devices for that

Answer:	This router doesn’t work with a regular lan router not sure for vsat tech. Drops connect regularly even though a green light is displayed.

Question:	In repeater mode with two computers connected, does local traffic between the two go through the primary router? Or is it handled through the repeater
Answer:	An access point behaves as a switch, which forwards traffic to the correct port for the MAC address of the recipient. This means wireless to wireless traffic need not go to your router. The only difference between the router mode and access point is whether or not the unit is set up to interface with another network.
Question:	Are the wired LAN ports gigabit or only 100Mb/s
Answer:	Asus product page for this item says "RJ45 for 10/100/1000/Gigabits BaseT for LAN x 4, RJ45 for 10/100/1000/Gigabits BaseT for WAN x 1" which means 1G for all 5 ports (1 WAN, 4 LAN);
Question:	IN AP mode, can you connect both wired and wireless devices
Answer:	Yes, we have it in AP mode and also have a laptop wired to it. Works great with no noticeable reduction in speed.
Question:	My Cable company is charging me $10 a month extra for home networking and a modem. Can this work in place of the cable equipment and save me money
Answer:	No. The Asus RT-N12 is a router.. only... and has no cable modem function. Depending on your situation, you will need, at minimum, a compatible (check with your ISP) cable modem - latest Docsis version 3.0 is preferable though not required. Motorola seems to be a safe choice for most service providers. If you combine phone service with internet, than you will need a compatible cable/voice gateway instead of a simple modem. Gateways are much more expensive than modems and much harder to find, especially when considering compatibility.As far as saving money... if all you need is a modem and a router, then the combined cost will be let's say $107 (router= 40 + Motorola SB6121 = $67) + shipping. Considering your $10 rental fee, the equipment pays for itself in just under 1 year.... assuming that all you need is a modem and NOT a gateway.

Answer:	Someone said 4-5 ounces per cone; I don't use NEARLY that much. I use the 9 oz clear plastic cups. I shape a nice ball of snow taking up most of the cup. I add 2-2.5 ounces of syrup -- usually one ounce of one flavor on one side, and another ounce of another flavor on the other side. Then I drizzle a small amount to finish off the color. If I were selling them, I'd probably need to make 'em bigger, but these are just treats for my kids after dinner...

Answer:	Yes. Connect the R7800 to the FiOS router (they don't use modems) by attaching an ethernet cable to one of the FiOS router's LAN ports, and the other end to any of the ports on the R7800. Then set up the R7800 in AP mode, and disable the Wifi of the FiOS router (not critical, but neater). The FiOS router will assign all the IP addresses, and the R7800 will provide wireless services. Works like a charm. You can use the LAN ports of both the FiOS router and the R7800 for wired connections.
Question:	Is this device able to plug and play via ethernet cable from my cable modem to extend my cable wifi range
Answer:	Yes. All of these Netgear routers can either be used as range extenders OR wired into becoming the primary internet source for your home. The latter is actually recommended, if your cable modem is basic and/or sends a weaker than warranted WiFi signal.

Answer:	I don't own this router, but I'd agree with Apollo Grace. Anything that's going to be using this ethernet port will be bottlenecked at 100Mbit maximum. If you're just using this for WiFi only or if you don't mind a maximum speed of 100Mbit on the ethernet port, then buy it. Answer:	in my opinion this will help. before I got this router I had a smaller one. Then we started adding more technology in our home (smart TVs, tablets, etc) and the connections kept dropping. I got this router and I have not had an issue since.
Question:	I upgraded to 200mbps internet speed. i alreay purchased arris surfboard sb6 as the modem. will speed test show 200mbps or trottle it down at 100mbps
Answer:	What model of modem did you buy? Usually, the model number on the surfboards look like sb6xxx. Since you are paying for 200Mbps, your modem is going to be the first chokepoint but if you bought a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, then you should be able to reach speeds of 300Mbps. This specific router states on Linksys.com that the max link rate is 867Mbps. Given that you are hard-wired with cat 6 ethernet cable installed correctly (i.e. no runs over 100ft, no kinks, etc.) then you should be able to hit your 200Mbps speed provided by your ISP. Your wireless speed is determined by the server you are pinging as well as interference in your area and other devices in use on your network. A caveat, though, is that each category of internet speeds provided by your ISP is usually "up to..." so basically they will provide speeds up to the 200Mbps but no lower than the category under the one you pay for. Answer:	Yes, Give the router its own IP and then turn off DHCP. Plug cat5/6 into ports, 1-4 ( cable coming from other router. Depending on how many times you have added a router, will depend on the IP that you give it. If this is just the 2nd router, setup IP as 192.168.1.2, then make sure all your wireless settings are correct, and turn off DHCP. Power cycle the router and your should be good to go. I have 4 routers on my network.From the looks of some of the comments, I don't think there is a clear understanding of repeater and bridge and extend. Please learn what all these mean, in terms of networking, before you answer a question. You are only misleading people. This is and cannot be a repeater. You WILL need a network cable run from either your modem, or another router, to supply internet.
