14 best at t adsl modems

AT&T ADSL modems are networking devices designed to connect to AT&T's broadband internet service using Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) technology. These modems play a crucial role in establishing a high-speed internet connection in homes and businesses that are serviced by AT&T. Here's what you should know about AT&T ADSL modems:

  1. ADSL Technology: ADSL is a type of digital subscriber line technology that uses existing telephone lines to provide high-speed internet access. ADSL modems can transmit and receive data over these lines simultaneously, making it suitable for internet access.

  2. Compatibility: AT&T ADSL modems are typically configured to work specifically with AT&T's internet service. They may be provided by AT&T as part of an internet service package or purchased separately if customers prefer to use their own equipment.

  3. Router Functionality: Many AT&T ADSL modems also incorporate router features. This means they can not only connect to the internet but also distribute the internet connection to multiple devices within a home or business network through wired or wireless connections.

  4. Wi-Fi Capability: Some AT&T ADSL modems with router functionality include Wi-Fi capabilities, allowing users to connect their devices wirelessly to the internet. These modems often have built-in Wi-Fi antennas and support various Wi-Fi standards (e.g., 802.11ac, 802.11n) for different speeds and coverage ranges.

  5. Ports and Interfaces: AT&T ADSL modems typically have a variety of ports, including Ethernet ports for wired connections to computers and other devices, phone line ports for ADSL connectivity, and sometimes USB ports for connecting devices like printers or external hard drives.

  6. Setup and Configuration: To set up an AT&T ADSL modem, users need to follow the provided instructions, which often involve connecting the modem to the phone line and configuring network settings. AT&T may also offer customer support for modem installation and troubleshooting.

  7. Security Features: These modems often come with security features such as built-in firewalls, WPA/WPA2 encryption for Wi-Fi networks, and password protection for the modem's administrative settings. Ensuring proper security settings is essential to protect the network from unauthorized access.

  8. Firmware Updates: Periodically, AT&T may release firmware updates for their modems to improve performance, security, and compatibility. Users should keep their modem's firmware up to date.

It's important to note that specific models and features of AT&T ADSL modems may vary over time, so customers should check with AT&T or refer to the product documentation for the most up-to-date information on the modem models available and their capabilities. When choosing or setting up an AT&T ADSL modem, customers should consider factors such as their internet speed requirements, the size of their network, and any specific features they need for their internet usage.

User questions & answers

Question: is it compatible with netgear nighthawk x6 router
Answer: Will work with any router especially a better but any router i s fine
Question: This is a modem/router or just a modem
Answer: Router and Modem combined. Router has all the functionality you need for home network. Firewall/DHCP/Port forwarding etc. I just put my wireless router in Firewall/DHCP OFF and made it a wireless access point. Plugged the DM200 into a LAN port of the wireless router and now all wireless clients have internet/LAN access. Great having a router/modem in one box under $100.I have Century Link. They are unfortunate souls....clueless. They couldnt make their ADSL2+ modem work. Come to find out they have VDSL and didnt know it. What a bunch of bozo's :) Once I had my PPPoE login and password the DM200 took it from there.Firewall test show the DM200 is totally stealth. DM200 is easy to configure and a great little Router/Modem combo.
Question: Will this work with at&t dsl
Answer: Be certain it is actual AT&T DSL not UVerse DSL. The line between the two is often blurred in many areas.
Question: Will this work with windstream vdsl (not bonded
Answer: I have it. Yes. You have to set it up as vdsl pppoe. Search up the user manual for it and go to that section.

User questions & answers

Question: Where is the power off button in case of needing to restart the modem
Answer: Don't use the reset button. That will reset all the router's settings to default. There is not power button. Disconnect the power and reconnect.
Question: Are cables included
Answer: Yes. Ready to use.
Question: How many devices can be connected to the device wirelessly? thks
Answer: Currently Have three wireless laptops, one mac wireless, one desktop wired, one xbox 360 wired and wireless depending where in the house I am at, a VoiP phone connected via power brick. That is not including what I bring home from work. So totaled together 7 to 9 and still have plenty of speed to go around.
Question: To prolong the life of the modem, is it better to turn it off at night when not used, or just keep it on continously
Answer: This is a solid state device, but it also contains a microwave ( Wi-Fi) transmitter. It draws about 12 watts, and it gets warm.. most solid state devices are about 50% efficient.. and that is consistant with this thing getting about as hot as a 5 watt night light. It isn't likely that the thing will die of old age before DSL becomes obsolete. However, I keep mine on a high shelf in my bedroom, well away from the living and working area in our house. I unplug it at night, because I don't want to sleep next to a microwave transmitter. I also don't want to have a cellphone pressed against my head very often. So you decide whether you think your personal brain cells and mitochondria are susceptible to microwave radio (rf) energy or not, and act accordingly. I get good Wi-Fi reception 300 feet away from this modem ( using a positionable Wi-Fi adapter ) so the thing has a decent amount of transmit power, you don't want it at head or eye level for sure. I would put it where it gets good air circulation... look at the top... see the vents ?

User questions & answers

Question: Does it work with Verizon Dsl

Question: Is this compatible with frontier
Answer: would this work for frontier ADSL2 + Bonded ?
Question: Is this superior to the ATT DSL modem/router supplied with UVerse
Answer: UVerse uses VDSL. The modem built into the N600 is an ADSL+ modem and will not work with UVerse. You can use the N600 as a router only by connecting a VDSL modem to the router via the WAN connection.
Question: Before dropping $120.00 on this, how good is the range? Would it be bood for a 2500 sqft area
Answer: Our Netgear router is located on the 2nd floor of our home which is 1140 square feet. It reaches to the main floor (also 1140 square feet) without any problem as well as outside on the front porch and back deck. The home is wood construction with steel siding. I don't have any problems with reception. Some reviews said this router has limited range and I'm not sure what was meant by limited range.

User questions & answers

Question: Trying to replace windstream f@st4320 us and told i need g bond dsl and vdsl will this work? netgear didn't know for sure
Answer: No, this product will NOT work. Netgear support does NOT seem to understand the questions about "bonded." I tried out two of these to make sure it wasn't a problem with the first one. A bonded line is not recognized and you'll get error messages that an Internet connection is not detected. What's happening is that the ISP is preventing people from just buying a 3rd party box and is forcing us to "rent" their modem-router units by so-called upgrading us with these bonded lines. I've searched for hours trying to find a "bonded dsl modem" and there are two manufacturers out there who don't have products on the shelves available for purchase. I'm betting they sell directly to the ISPs though. Pretty nice set-up for the ISP to force us to spend that extra money, isn't it?
Question: Does netgear ac1900 adsl wi-fi modem router work with at&t dsl
Answer: Yes, but not Uverse
Question: I have centurylink dsl service. running 25 down on a vdsl2 line. will this d7000 work with it
Answer: Yes it does work for the VDSL. Not knowing there was a difference I originally purchased the AC1200 DSL which does NOT work on VDSL.
Question: Does this work with att dsl
Answer: Yes, but its not that simple. As with all DSL devices, the quality of the signal depends on how far you are from the switching office. The "brand" of DSL only matters in terms of system maintenance. In my case, I had a slow 1Mbps connection with increasing disconnects. I bought a new Netgear modem thinking that my ten year old modem was slowly failing and I could upgrade my speed later. The Netgear modem did not solve the problem! The old modem actually made more reliable connections. After several months I had a technician come out and he measured my line and said the best I could hope for was 3 Mbps! My house is near the limits of the local DSL system. I could pay for faster service, but I would never actually get it. Before you buy anything, find out what the limits of your connection are. My Netgear modem clearly could not handle the marginal signal quality of my DSL. I understand now that if I bought the complete digital TV package, the service would be a VDSL signal from the box at the end of my street. As for the Netgear modem, I don't know how well it would work under better service conditions. The wifi part of it did work very well, I used it as an access point for a short while. Because of all this, my only choice was to switch to cable. Even a basic level of cable service is far better than marginal DSL service. If your only choice is DSL, then again, find out what your DSL service is actually capable of providing you, before you invest in new hardware and pay for more speed.

User questions & answers

Question: Why is this labeled c2100t when in the picture it clearly says the unit is a c1100t
Answer: When i bought mine the pictures where of the correct device. I am not sure why Amazon changed the product.
Question: Does this work for bonded vdsl
Answer: It does work for bonded vdsl2
Question: Is this a router and a modem? Also, is there any lag when streaming through wifi
Answer: This is a pretty decent modem/router. However I did notice some lag when I pushed it hard via Wifi. Specifically having 2 Apple TVs streaming, along with internet use, would cause issues. I do not see this lag when I use my R7000 router, and set up the modem in bridge mode. Overall, I would say this is the best modem/router combo I have used, but not as good as a high performance router - especially if you have a lot of Wifi devices. If your TV streaming devices are on ethernet, then this performs well, but Wifi is not as good as a high end router.
Question: Can it work with centurylink Fiber
Answer: Yes. I use it with Centurylink Fiber now.

Motorola MG7550 16x4 Cable Modem Plus AC1900 Dual Band WiFi Gigabit Router with Power Boost and DFS, 686 Mbps Maximum DOCSIS 3.0 - Approved by Comcast Xfinity, Cox, Charter Spectrum, More (Black)

Motorola

Based on 4 reviews Check latest price
  • 16x4 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem plus a built-in AC1900 Dual Band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) WiFi Gigabit Router with four Gigabit (GigE) Ethernet ports, a firewall DFS, Power Boost, and more. This product is recommended for actual cable Internet service speeds up to 375 Mbps. A Broadcom cable modem chipset provides security from Denial of Service attacks. WiFi performance is exceptionally good, even in multi-dwelling units with lots of WiFi noise from neighbors. DFS and Power Boost are key
  • Requires cable Internet service. Approved by and for use with Comcast Xfinity and Xfinity X1, Cox, Charter Spectrum, Time Warner Cable, Suddenlink, WOW., CableOne and other cable service providers. Eliminate cable modem rental fees up to 156 dollars per year. (Savings are shown for Xfinity and vary by cable service provider. No cable modem is compatible with fiber optic, DSL, or satellite services from Verizon, AT&T, CenturyLink, Frontier, and others. Model MG7550 has no phone jack.)
  • Built-in high-speed Wi-Fi router with AC1900 Wi-Fi, and Power Boost, and DFS provides Internet access for Wi-Fi devices including smartphones, notebooks, tablets, game stations, HDTVs, Amazon Echo, Google Home, Chromecast, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and AppleTV. Four 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports provide wired connections to Windows and Mac computers, HDTVs, game stations, streaming TV devices, and other Ethernet-capable devices.
  • Wireless Power Boost adds high-performance WiFi power amplifiers to boost the wireless signals to the legal limit, giving a significant boost in speed and range. The router can work on WiFi DFS frequencies, unlike most routers, so it is much less vulnerable to WiFi interference from neighbors. In addition, AnyBeam beamforming at both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies focuses the signal on wireless clients to further enhance performance and range.
  • Integrating the cable modem and router creates a reliable connection that reduces unwieldy wiring and power adapter clutter while conserving desk space. The vertical design minimizes shelf space and improves cooling while looking great in any home or office. A two-year warranty plus rugged lightning and power surge circuits protect your investment. Includes phone and web support by friendly, professional USA-based technical support specialists. Phone support is provided in English and Spanish.

User questions & answers

Question: How easy is set up on this device? Would I have to call my provider (Comcast
Answer: It is super easy to set-up, however you usually have to contact comcast with any new device because they have to put it on their system. I basically plugged it in and called comcast, they found the device on the network and I was up and running. The only other step you need is to go into the device setup (the ip address is on the label) and login and set up your username and password for your accounts. There are other settings you can set, but for a basic setup that is all you need to do.
Question: What is the difference between this one and the $89.99 that you also offer
Answer: The MG7550 is both a 16X4 modem and an AC1900 router integrated into a single unit. The MB7420 is a 16X4 modem, but does not include an integrated wireless router. The $89.99 MB7420 would typically be used with a wireless router. The MG7550 has a very powerful router built in.
Question: Is this a 32 band modem
Answer: The MG7550 supports the 250 Mbps and 300 Mbps services which are the fastest offered by the major service providers using DOCSIS 3.0. The MG7550 does not support 32 channels down, but as a caution, 32 channels is not likely to buy you anything more. The next major cable modem speed increase will use a technology called DOCSIS 3.1. That new technology is at least a year away for most people and will be a premium-priced service. The major cable service providers are very unlikely to use more than 16 channels for DOCSIS 3.0 because that would not be an efficient use of their networks. So buying a DOCSIS 3.0 device with more than a 16 channels down is not likely to buy you anything.
Question: Sellers keep saying the range is excellent. what exactly is the range for this router? numbers please. i need facts before i invest
Answer: The range you will get is highly dependent upon what kind of building you are in and how many other wireless signals are in the area. The range you will get in an apartment with concrete walls is much different from the range you will get in a suburban house with drywall interior walls. Results are also highly dependent upon what client (notebook, tablet, phone etc.) you are using. There is an independent study by Netperian that compares the speeds and range of competing AC1900 cable modem gateways. Various building types are used in the test and speed ratings were taken in each room of the buildings. The results were that the Motorola MG7550 is MUCH better than Arris and significantly better than Netgear. The report is over 40 pages long, so you will readily see a few numbers for range are only partial information. With all of that said, in an open field the MG7550 averaged 214 Mbps download speeds at 1000 feet and 475 Mbps at 100 feet. Those were much better data rates than Netgear or Arris with identical conditions.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it come with set up instructions
Answer: You can. Most people would use a old router like a hub just to get more than the 4 ports. Be sure the radio is off for the second router. If you do use the WIFI radios be sure to change the channels so that they are different between the two.
Question: can you add another router
Answer: The one I bought on Amazon did not have a "warranty". It was used. But when I did not need it and requested a return they did give me my money back in full but that was less than 2 weeks after I ordered it. Please always read any policies about returns when you are thinking about your purchase with anything on Amazon.
Question: what sort of warrenty does this come with
Answer: I had to return this modem/router because CenturyLink has service issues in my area. I had to switch to cable.
Question: Will this work with 1 Gig speed from CenturyLink
Answer: With the RV132W router you do have two options to connect to the Internet -either using the Fast Ethernet WAN port (UTP copper cable with RJ-45 connector) or the ADSL2+ port (runs over a standard telephone cable with RJ-11 connector). User questions & answers

Question: What does "AC1200" mean
Answer: AC means that the router has support for the 802.11ac (or Wi-Fi 5) wireless networking standard, which offers fast WiFi network connections on the 5GHz frequency. 1200 means the max Mbps is 1200
Question: Does the box come with the necessary cables? (e.g. power cord and coax cable
Answer: It does come with a power cord and either net cable. A coax is not needed since cable company should connect their end directly to the modern.
Question: Does this modem have netgear genie
Answer: Hello Thank you for contacting us. It has Netgear Genie App Management. Any questions please contact us again. Thanks.
Question: I see many ppl asking about a router and answers say “modem only” but the description says wifi modem combo. what am i missing
Answer: The confusion is due to the illogical way Amazon links questions and answers to products. There are several different products listed on this one product page. Some are just modems, others are modem/router combos. Unfortunately, all the different products on this page share the same questions and answers which aren't relevant to one another. If the description on the product you have selected says it's a modem/router combo, then it's a modem/router combo. The people saying it's only a router are answering the question based on the product their viewing or have purchased. This is a problem that effects many products throughout the Amazon site.

User questions & answers

Question: Why does it say 4x ethernet ports in your description where there is only one
Answer: Because Amazon hasn't corrected their product subscription. I submitted one two weeks ago and has yet to be done. If you need more than 1 ethernet port, then this one is not for you. This has only (1) 2.5 Multi-Gig port.
Question: Does netgear cm500-1aznas work with tds provider
Answer: Yes. But you need to call the TDS customer service and provide your CMAC or SN to register your device. These numbers are on the box and the unit
Question: Can you use a phone to ethernet splitter for voice to work
Answer: I have never heard of a phone to internet splitter, at least not expressed in those terms. However, for VOIP (which means Voice Over Internet Protocall), you must have at least one phone jack in a modem, or a modem-router combination. Some modems have two such jacks, which could provide two different "lines." Most importantly, you must have your internet service provider's PERMISSION to install and use such a modem, or modem-router combination! My own ISP (Wow, aka Wowway.com) REFUSED to give such permission because that would cut into their profits, since they would no longer receive a monthly FEE to RENT their age-old junk, much of which are at least five years old, which is like a millenia in this day of super-fast-paced electronic offerings. I had to send back every VOIP-capable modem I bought from Amazon and other places because my ISP REFUSED to enable them to work with their so-called service(s). Talk about anti-competitive business practices ... U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), are you paying any attention?
Question: I understand that this modem says it will only work with xfinity. but has anyone tried this with spectrum? (aka time warner cable
Answer: Hello. I am writing this Dec 2, 2020 and just activated this modem 2 days ago with Spectrum. It is not on the list of approved modems, but oddly enough the CM400 is. I just told the tech support who activated it that it was compatible and it's worked fine with no problems. I went from 100-120 mbs on my 100 mb plan to 250 to 450 mbs, still on the 100 mb plan. This modem is not on the list of approved models but it seems to work fine so far without periodic latency/drops like the Arris model from Spectrum had.
