Question:	Can you disable the 2.4Ghz band totally? I only want it to connect and extend the 5Ghz (I know it will be half bandwidth
Answer:	Kinda, it has the typical ASUS driver software which allows for independent setting for the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. You can give each band a separate SSID and password. That will allow you to connect to just the 5Ghz band with your devices. After you have separate SSIDs you can also disable the 2.4Ghz SSID broadcast so it won't even show up as an option on most of your devices. However, there's no way to actually disable the 2.4Ghz band broadcast. Remember, even when the 2.4Ghz band is "hidden" you (or others) can still find it and connect to it so make sure it's password protected!

Answer:	It is supposed to extend both 2.4 and 5GHz but mine would only see the 2.4GHz band. I ended up returning mine. Also I would not the range on these devices is not near that of a normal wireless router. It is not a bad little device but if you have big expectations for additional range you may be disappointed.

Question:	I would like to hard wire this device to my router to extend my Wifi and use the wired ports for a hardwire connection is that possible
Answer:	in response on Andres, if you're using this with a wired backhaul then whatever other wireless service is out there is not going to affect it. What will affect it is the quality of your cable and the speed of the ports. As long as the Router or Switch you plug this into has Gigabit Ethernet and you're using Cat 5E cable or better (I'd go with Cat6) With wither you don't want to exceed 90 meters (295 feet) for a Backbone run. Also be warned, cat7 is actually WORST than Cat 5e / Cat6 for distances - you do not want to exceed 15 meters (49 feet) with that cable. Make sure with any device like this if you're using a wired backhal (ethernet from a router or switch behind a router) that you set it up as an Access point. many devices that have routing capability will create their own subnets in the network - subdividing your traffic - usually not an issue, however if you're sharing a device that needs to be on the "same network" that would fail.
Question:	Can the lights be turned off during operation? Some Asus routers have this option
Answer:	Yes. The red led lights within the frame can be turned off by touching the ASUS logo on the front. The signal strength light meters on the back remain on.
Question:	Has anyone logged in the user interface? Is it working properly ? I've tried and user interface seems to be broken even after manul firmware update
Answer:	Mine seems to be working fine. I think I had to log in to it in order to activate both bands. The first thing I did was update the firmware over the internet. Good luck. Mine's paired with an ASUS RT-AC66R router, although the brand name should make no difference.

Answer:	I have it setup to extend range in average size house, but going thru many walls.So, perhaps 30m. I get 2 bars lit on devices LED indicators, of which the instructions deem as acceptable.I am a little disappointed in the devices own 5g wifi, as it does not support MIMO from what I can tell on it's 'repeated' wifi, so does not attain anywhere near the speed of what my devices can achieve when directly connected to my router at other end of house.( Surface Pro tablet and AppleTV4) Both MIMO capable.Where this device really shines, is with it's giga-Ethernet ports, which seem to pass thru much higher speed than what it can repeat wifi)For example, if I connect my surface via wifi direct to my router, and perform broadband speed test of my Fibre 200 connection, It reports 206mbit. If I connect to the Asus repeater, I max out at about 40mbit.If I connect my surface to the repeater's giga-Ethernet ports directly, and perform same test, I get 200 mbit.So, providing the primary router can supply the bandwidth, the asus repeater works blazingly fast when connected to the primary router via wifi, and when you patch into it's Ethernet ports, but I find it's own wifi repeating to be not that impressive.

Answer:	This should be the default set-up. There are three set-ups: Bridge, Ethernet adapter, and Repeater. I have only set these up as repeaters, but am planning on switching at least one to Ethernet. Answer:	No. First you connect it with the cable and then log into settings and set it to work as a repeater and then disconnect and it will be a wireless repeater.

Question:	In repeater mode with two computers connected, does local traffic between the two go through the primary router? Or is it handled through the repeater
Answer:	An access point behaves as a switch, which forwards traffic to the correct port for the MAC address of the recipient. This means wireless to wireless traffic need not go to your router. The only difference between the router mode and access point is whether or not the unit is set up to interface with another network.
Question:	Are the wired LAN ports gigabit or only 100Mb/s
Answer:	Asus product page for this item says "RJ45 for 10/100/1000/Gigabits BaseT for LAN x 4, RJ45 for 10/100/1000/Gigabits BaseT for WAN x 1" which means 1G for all 5 ports (1 WAN, 4 LAN);

Answer:	Yes, we have it in AP mode and also have a laptop wired to it. Works great with no noticeable reduction in speed.
Question:	My Cable company is charging me $10 a month extra for home networking and a modem. Can this work in place of the cable equipment and save me money
Answer:	No. The Asus RT-N12 is a router.. only... and has no cable modem function. Depending on your situation, you will need, at minimum, a compatible (check with your ISP) cable modem - latest Docsis version 3.0 is preferable though not required. Motorola seems to be a safe choice for most service providers. If you combine phone service with internet, than you will need a compatible cable/voice gateway instead of a simple modem. Gateways are much more expensive than modems and much harder to find, especially when considering compatibility.As far as saving money... if all you need is a modem and a router, then the combined cost will be let's say $107 (router= 40 + Motorola SB6121 = $67) + shipping. Considering your $10 rental fee, the equipment pays for itself in just under 1 year.... assuming that all you need is a modem and NOT a gateway.

Answer:	Someone said 4-5 ounces per cone; I don't use NEARLY that much. I use the 9 oz clear plastic cups. I shape a nice ball of snow taking up most of the cup. I add 2-2.5 ounces of syrup -- usually one ounce of one flavor on one side, and another ounce of another flavor on the other side. Then I drizzle a small amount to finish off the color. If I were selling them, I'd probably need to make 'em bigger, but these are just treats for my kids after dinner...

Answer:	There aren’t that many HomeKit routers in the market to begin with, and apparently if you get a HomeKit router after you’ve already set up a smart home, you have to RESET and RE-ADD all accessories for security reasons. I’m basically waiting for Eero Pro 6 to have an answer for us before deciding to purchase (a 6 or the older gen Pro)
Question:	Is the range better than a Netgear Nighthawk R
Answer:	Yes, but when you put AX routers/AP's in mesh mode with AC AP's the AX ones will change over to AC mode. If you don't have a pro model Eero as the router, this would be a nice upgrade. But if you have the pro model + beacons, you would need to upgrade all of them to see a benefit. If you just want more pro's, then this is more future proof than buying the wifi 5 pro model, and you could at a later time replace all your units with WiFi 6 models.
