You run it and it says the driver is installed --- but really nothing happens, DM says there is no driver... Why? Because you MUST DISABLE the existing Network Interface Device first! Once you do this (then reboot) the Setup runs perfectly and all is well. Root Cause: What happens on Windows 10 system is that the new NIC is created as a Network Controller device, not under NETWORK ADAPTER as is should be (note, it didn't do this on my Windows 7 system). My trusty Mac refused to restart even in "safe mode". Tried rebooting in recovery mode and again, would not boot up. I ended up reinstalling my entire drive from a back up drive. Total time wasted=5 hours and I sent this back for a refund. Don't bother wasting your money if you have a Mac, it will only cause you grief.

Answer:	Hey guys, I'm able to have it working on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. I did follow the dkms solution posted by the other user; the script ran into an error, that's when I noticed the shell script requires a manual edit to edit out the version number for the driver's directory, once that's done the shell script ran just fine. Also, I had this adapter plugged into a USB 2.0 port, and the wifi would not accept the password; once I plug it into a USB 3.0 port (duh, lol) the wifi accepted the password and working just fine.

Your phone is also, most likely, has a dual band receiver. It can accept both 5G and 2.4G data streams. To get 5G speeds you need a router capable of sending data at 5G--that is a dual band router. You can connect your phone to your router but not directly to a computer that just has a 5G Wi-Fi "card." Everything, outside of the main Ethernet connection coming from your modem/service provider, runs through the router. Answer:	. I recently got this adapter... It works perfectly with Ubuntu & Mint, ( both Debian based ), as well as Fedora, ( which is Red Hat's desktop fork of Linux ). . One thing to note is you need to extract the driver and build/install it, ( using the make commands ), in order to use it. For people unfamiliar with how to do this, or who may be unsure that they are technically capable, the adapter has very good documentation on the folder on the included disc, ( you can also find the driver and documents on Cudy's website for those who would like to view it before purchasing ). I whole-heartedly recommend this adapter, even for people new to Linux. 🙂 So far I've used mine on a MacBook as well as a Dell Optiplex w/o issue.

Answer:	I really don't know as of yet if this device does that or not. I run Linux (Debian 8.6, Linux Mint 18, 17.3, forget Ubuntu-I found too much spyware in that coupled with a wincrap laptop here somewhere) myself and just had not the time to mess with it on these features. It does work well on Linux under Ndiswrapper though I know I can do better with my own driver soon. Just had surgery on my eyes so give me a few weeks as they heal but you can contact me at Kstein_8551 at Yahoo.com. That is the public email address I use mostly. Another winmodem that does well with what you want is Netgear 6210 (1900-3.0usb) but you will have to download the chip source and make the driver for it. Not the netgear one. I just searched Duckduckgo for the chipset ID from lsusb command to get the chipset code.
