Answer:	Because Amazon hasn't corrected their product subscription. I submitted one two weeks ago and has yet to be done. If you need more than 1 ethernet port, then this one is not for you. This has only (1) 2.5 Multi-Gig port.

Most importantly, you must have your internet service provider's PERMISSION to install and use such a modem, or modem-router combination! My own ISP (Wow, aka Wowway.com) REFUSED to give such permission because that would cut into their profits, since they would no longer receive a monthly FEE to RENT their age-old junk, much of which are at least five years old, which is like a millenia in this day of super-fast-paced electronic offerings. I had to send back every VOIP-capable modem I bought from Amazon and other places because my ISP REFUSED to enable them to work with their so-called service(s). Answer:	Hello. I am writing this Dec 2, 2020 and just activated this modem 2 days ago with Spectrum. It is not on the list of approved modems, but oddly enough the CM400 is. I just told the tech support who activated it that it was compatible and it's worked fine with no problems. I went from 100-120 mbs on my 100 mb plan to 250 to 450 mbs, still on the 100 mb plan. This modem is not on the list of approved models but it seems to work fine so far without periodic latency/drops like the Arris model from Spectrum had.

Answer:	That is not correct, I am currently using the CM500V with Xfinity and the bottom of the modem clearly has both a CM MAC and an MTA MAC (not EMTA). Answer:	In my area, currently, if you have Time Warner 'triple play' (TV, Internet, phone) and you have your own supported modem, TW provides the same modem they would for triple play and uses that for phone service only - at no monthly equipment charge - and disables their modems Internet connection/ wifi. So you do need that TW modem in addition to this unit and a cable box for TW triple play, but your only equipment fee if you have your own modem is for the cable box / DVR. I am using this modem and a TW modem with a high bandwidth splitter and good, short coax patch cables (or you can use different cable wall outlets for phone and Internet if you prefer) with TW triple play, and am not charged any monthly rental fee for Internet or phone hardware. Contact your TW representative and confirm their policy for your area (may take more than one call to get a representative who can give you the official answer).

However everytime I plug this modem and replace comcast modem - the internet wired connections throttles at a max of ~174 Mbps Wifi sucks at ~74 Mbps Upstairs ~43 Mbps Very disappointed with this product. I have spent numerous hours with comcast tech and they rewired my connections. NO LUCK !!!

Answer:	Bridging the connection is entirely dependent on your internet service provider. Some providers have a configuration file which will overwrite the bridge mode any time you reboot your modem (When your modem or gateway reaches out to their DHCP server, it locks to your modem's MAC address). You can try calling your internet service provider and ask them to release your DHCP lease, which will make the network have to relearn what MAC is associated with your account. However, it may not be permanent and will just revert to previous settings again. Answer:	I also have Comcast/Xfinity Triple Play. With all of the Premium channels it cost me $159.00 per month when I add the phone and went to Triple Play 3 years ago. Late last year my monthly bill had gone up to $292.00 per month and they were talking about raising the price another $18. I dropped all of the Premium channels, turned in one of the three HD adapters and bought this MT17711 so I didn't have to rent one monthly. My bill dropped down to $191.30. This modem is excellent. It has faster Internet speeds and my devices located outside no longer drop off. I still have the X1 DVR and can live without the Premium Channels. Answer:	Only RCN can answer that question. I can say that this modem will handle at lease 110 Mbps because that was what I had. It did not handle 300Mbps. The modem worked perfectly and was very reliable.
Question:	What kind of router is best to use with this modem
Answer:	That is a very hard question to answer in a limited amount of space. First, think about getting the Model MG7310, which incorporates an N300 wireless router. You will probably save some money and you will reduce cable clutter, increase reliability (wiring connections are a frequent source of trouble) and save desk space by incorporating both modem and router in a single device. If the MG7310 won't work for you, here are some very general rules, but the choice of a router is definitely an individual decision that has to factor in price and performance. If you are in a dense setting like a high rise building or a dense condo or apartment complex, get a dual band wireless that has both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHZ frequency support. But that assumes your connecting devices like phones and computers support 5 GHz. If you live in a very large house, or a house with masonry walls rather than sheetrock, you will want WDS support in case you need to use a range extender. With that said, if you have a 50 Mbps cable service or slower, an N300 router will probably meet your needs and save you some money. Much more could be written on this topic, a search of the Internet should provide additional information.
Question:	Do I need to contact my cable provider that I am changing my previse cable modem for this one, or will it work out of the box
Answer:	Short version: Use your provider's self registration website, or whichever of their customer service methods work best for you. Long version: The cable modem will go online once powered and connected to a coaxial cable with good signal parameters. You still need service authorization from the cable modem termination system. Some cable internet service providers have self registration websites. Connect the coaxial cable to the modem, an ethernet cable to a computer, and connect the power cord to an outlet. This may also work over a wireless router and with wireless devices, but just using a computer can help isolate any setup issues. When your modem first goes online, the CMTS may recognize a foreign modem and direct your web browser to the registration website. If not, the registration website can be manually searched for, which is where a secondary internet connection of some sort can come in handy. If you have your account information already, the only other thing you may need to add is the CMAC, or Cable modem Media Access Control address. Some registration systems can detect this automatically. This is the number that distinguishes your modem from all of the others, and should be on the modem if not also on a label in the box. At the end of the process, the modem will probably restart on command of the CMTS. Once it is back online, test your internet connection. You may need to power cycle the modem (unplug it and plug it back in) or reset it (hold the reset button for long enough) before using it with other equipment, most commonly a wireless router. This particular product is just a modem, so if you previously used the wireless network coming out of the cable company's equipment, you would also need your own wireless router or other networking equipment. This whole process can often be done ahead of time and the new modem plugged in later, but be advised that the previous modem (if it is still online) will lose its service. Also be aware that if the wiring leading to an old modem has issues, changing modems will not fix the real issue and is not likely to make the service any better.

Question:	How warm does this modem run? Some of the more recent SB modems ran too hot, leading to early failure
Answer:	Handling of heat was definitely considered in the MB7420 design. All cable modems generate heat, the good designs get rid of the heat efficiently. The MB7420 is very well ventilated on both sides and on the top, and has robust heat sinks on the circuit board to dissipate the heat. The vertical design also helps air circulation. The two year warranty is the longest in the industry and speaks to the durability of the product. With that said, definitely do not operate the MB7420 on its side. The MB7420 is intended to be in a vertical position.
Question:	Are the leds insanely bright like on other motorola modems
Answer:	Whether the LEDs have the right amount of brightness is an opinion. The MB7420 LED brightness was reduced in response to user reviews on earlier modem designs. Definitely attention was paid to the output level and the electronic design throttled back the brightness. You will probably find it a good, but can't say for sure. Your opinion would be welcome.
Question:	Can the stabilizing foot be removed so the modem can lay on its side? Is it screwed/clipped on
Answer:	The foot is attached with 2 screws under the label. It is designed to stand up on the foot to allow for adequate cooling for the modem at high speeds. It is not designed to lay flat on its side with one panel blocked. It is recommended that both side panels and the top not be blocked. Laying it on its side and blocking the ventilation could produce improper operation and unit failure.
Question:	Is this part of the arris motorola surfboard line up of modems
Answer:	No, it is not. This is a much newer design. The MB7420 has a Full Band Capture Digital Tuner, upgraded power handling to protect against lightning and power surges, robust heat sinks to handle a broad temperature range. And the MB7420 looks a lot better than the Arris SB6141.

Answer:	Yes the EX8000 used as a wifi extender you have the option of having a guest network. You can use same SSID name as your main router or use a different SSID altogether. I did have issues with more than one extender on the same network using same SSID name as main router so I had to change one of the extenders to a different SSID.
Question:	Has anyone connected a ps4 of xbox one to the wifi from the range extender? if so, signal and game play any good
Answer:	If you mean an AT&T router signal, yes. If you mean cell tower signal, then no.
Question:	Does it create a new sid or does it exteneded your current sid, so one does not have to switch to differing networks when in range

Answer:	there are 4 ports. I use multiple ones as this is the only system I can find that does not change the network name but once a year I also have one break and have to replace it or hard reset it myself.

Answer:	Not sure about the answer to your question. The MG7700 is very popular at the moment and all you can do is keep monitoring availability.

Answer:	Model MG7700 should provide coverage to a large house. Unfortunately, because of so many variables involved, there isn't a way to measure the range (or speed) experience a user will have. Factors, including positioning of the Gateway, building materials, obstruction or even your neighbors WiFi usage, play a role in what will both range and speed. That said, model MG7700 is equipped with a sophisticated built in Dual Band AC 1900 WiFi router. Support for concurrent 2.4 and 5 GHz bands with AnyBeam beamforming at those bands, focuses the signal on wireless clients to allow further improvements to wireless performance, including range. Answer:	Motorola has a pretty decent 2 year warranty, with good phone support even through this Novel Corona-virus causing many companies to lessen customer support. This is a solid modem that saves me $185 every year with Comcast. It's interesting as I had Comcast service 12 years ago and back then one could own their own modem to save you $15, but they would charge you the same $15 for the access card a month. I went back to Comcast as Frontier is at deaths door. These days Comcast doesn't charge for the access card as the FCC put the kibosh on cable companies being in the cable rental business. At the end of the day, this Motorola's paid for itself twice over and still counting.
Question:	Are you able to install firmware updates? When I owned a combo modem+router, Cox locked out firmware updates because it was a cable modem
Answer:	No, you can't personally update the firmware, apparently, the cable company gets it from Motorola, and updates it for you. I guess for compatibility or maybe some other reason.

Question:	How easy is set up on this device? Would I have to call my provider (Comcast
Answer:	It is super easy to set-up, however you usually have to contact comcast with any new device because they have to put it on their system. I basically plugged it in and called comcast, they found the device on the network and I was up and running. The only other step you need is to go into the device setup (the ip address is on the label) and login and set up your username and password for your accounts. There are other settings you can set, but for a basic setup that is all you need to do.
Question:	What is the difference between this one and the $89.99 that you also offer
Answer:	The MG7550 is both a 16X4 modem and an AC1900 router integrated into a single unit. The MB7420 is a 16X4 modem, but does not include an integrated wireless router. The $89.99 MB7420 would typically be used with a wireless router. The MG7550 has a very powerful router built in.
Question:	Is this a 32 band modem
Answer:	The MG7550 supports the 250 Mbps and 300 Mbps services which are the fastest offered by the major service providers using DOCSIS 3.0. The MG7550 does not support 32 channels down, but as a caution, 32 channels is not likely to buy you anything more. The next major cable modem speed increase will use a technology called DOCSIS 3.1. That new technology is at least a year away for most people and will be a premium-priced service. The major cable service providers are very unlikely to use more than 16 channels for DOCSIS 3.0 because that would not be an efficient use of their networks. So buying a DOCSIS 3.0 device with more than a 16 channels down is not likely to buy you anything.
Question:	Sellers keep saying the range is excellent. what exactly is the range for this router? numbers please. i need facts before i invest
Answer:	The range you will get is highly dependent upon what kind of building you are in and how many other wireless signals are in the area. The range you will get in an apartment with concrete walls is much different from the range you will get in a suburban house with drywall interior walls. Results are also highly dependent upon what client (notebook, tablet, phone etc.) you are using. There is an independent study by Netperian that compares the speeds and range of competing AC1900 cable modem gateways. Various building types are used in the test and speed ratings were taken in each room of the buildings. The results were that the Motorola MG7550 is MUCH better than Arris and significantly better than Netgear. The report is over 40 pages long, so you will readily see a few numbers for range are only partial information. With all of that said, in an open field the MG7550 averaged 214 Mbps download speeds at 1000 feet and 475 Mbps at 100 feet. Those were much better data rates than Netgear or Arris with identical conditions.

Answer:	There wasn't much to the setup. I took the modem/router out of the box and connected it to the cable/internet wall plug. With Comcast I was able to do the setup over the internet (using my phone). It only took a few minutes over the internet versus calling Comcast.
