13 best at t dsl modem

AT&T DSL modems are networking devices used to establish a high-speed internet connection through Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology. These modems are typically provided by AT&T when you subscribe to their DSL internet service. Here's what you should know about AT&T DSL modems:

  1. DSL Technology: DSL is a broadband internet technology that uses existing telephone lines to transmit data. It offers a faster internet connection compared to dial-up, with the speed varying depending on your location and the specific DSL plan you subscribe to.

  2. Modem-Router Combo: Many AT&T DSL modems are combination devices that integrate both a modem and a router into a single unit. This eliminates the need for a separate router and simplifies the setup process for home networks. These combo devices often include built-in Wi-Fi, Ethernet ports, and other features.

  3. Compatibility: AT&T DSL modems are typically designed to work specifically with AT&T's DSL internet service. They are configured to connect seamlessly to AT&T's network, and some may come pre-configured with the necessary settings.

  4. Connection Speed: The speed of your DSL internet connection depends on several factors, including your distance from the central office or DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) and the DSL plan you choose. AT&T offers different DSL plans with varying speeds to suit different needs.

  5. Wi-Fi Capabilities: Many AT&T DSL modem-router combos come with Wi-Fi functionality, allowing you to connect multiple devices wirelessly to the internet. You can set up a Wi-Fi network in your home, and these devices often support the latest Wi-Fi standards for faster and more reliable connections.

  6. Ethernet Ports: AT&T DSL modems usually have Ethernet ports that allow you to connect devices directly using Ethernet cables. This can be useful for devices that require a wired connection for stability, such as gaming consoles or desktop computers.

  7. Security Features: AT&T DSL modems typically include security features like WPA/WPA2 encryption for Wi-Fi networks and firewall protection to help safeguard your network from online threats.

  8. Technical Support: AT&T provides technical support for their DSL modems and internet services. If you encounter issues with your modem or need assistance with setup, you can reach out to AT&T's customer support for help.

  9. Modem Rental or Purchase: Depending on your AT&T DSL plan, you may have the option to rent or purchase the DSL modem. Renting the modem is often included in the monthly service fee, while purchasing it may involve a one-time cost.

It's important to note that AT&T's DSL services and modem offerings may evolve over time, so it's a good idea to check with AT&T directly or visit their website for the most up-to-date information on available DSL modems and plans in your area. When setting up your DSL modem, follow the provided instructions or contact AT&T's customer support for assistance with installation and troubleshooting.

User questions & answers

Question: Why does it say 4x ethernet ports in your description where there is only one
Answer: Because Amazon hasn't corrected their product subscription. I submitted one two weeks ago and has yet to be done. If you need more than 1 ethernet port, then this one is not for you. This has only (1) 2.5 Multi-Gig port.
Question: Does netgear cm500-1aznas work with tds provider
Answer: Yes. But you need to call the TDS customer service and provide your CMAC or SN to register your device. These numbers are on the box and the unit
Question: Can you use a phone to ethernet splitter for voice to work
Answer: I have never heard of a phone to internet splitter, at least not expressed in those terms. However, for VOIP (which means Voice Over Internet Protocall), you must have at least one phone jack in a modem, or a modem-router combination. Some modems have two such jacks, which could provide two different "lines." Most importantly, you must have your internet service provider's PERMISSION to install and use such a modem, or modem-router combination! My own ISP (Wow, aka Wowway.com) REFUSED to give such permission because that would cut into their profits, since they would no longer receive a monthly FEE to RENT their age-old junk, much of which are at least five years old, which is like a millenia in this day of super-fast-paced electronic offerings. I had to send back every VOIP-capable modem I bought from Amazon and other places because my ISP REFUSED to enable them to work with their so-called service(s). Talk about anti-competitive business practices ... U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), are you paying any attention?
Question: I understand that this modem says it will only work with xfinity. but has anyone tried this with spectrum? (aka time warner cable
Answer: Hello. I am writing this Dec 2, 2020 and just activated this modem 2 days ago with Spectrum. It is not on the list of approved modems, but oddly enough the CM400 is. I just told the tech support who activated it that it was compatible and it's worked fine with no problems. I went from 100-120 mbs on my 100 mb plan to 250 to 450 mbs, still on the 100 mb plan. This modem is not on the list of approved models but it seems to work fine so far without periodic latency/drops like the Arris model from Spectrum had.

User questions & answers

Question: is it compatible with netgear nighthawk x6 router
Answer: Will work with any router especially a better but any router i s fine
Question: This is a modem/router or just a modem
Answer: Router and Modem combined. Router has all the functionality you need for home network. Firewall/DHCP/Port forwarding etc. I just put my wireless router in Firewall/DHCP OFF and made it a wireless access point. Plugged the DM200 into a LAN port of the wireless router and now all wireless clients have internet/LAN access. Great having a router/modem in one box under $100.I have Century Link. They are unfortunate souls....clueless. They couldnt make their ADSL2+ modem work. Come to find out they have VDSL and didnt know it. What a bunch of bozo's :) Once I had my PPPoE login and password the DM200 took it from there.Firewall test show the DM200 is totally stealth. DM200 is easy to configure and a great little Router/Modem combo.
Question: Will this work with at&t dsl
Answer: Be certain it is actual AT&T DSL not UVerse DSL. The line between the two is often blurred in many areas.
Question: Will this work with windstream vdsl (not bonded
Answer: I have it. Yes. You have to set it up as vdsl pppoe. Search up the user manual for it and go to that section.

User questions & answers

Question: I ordered this rj11(6ft). I received rj12(7ft) both had the #28721. will this rj12 work
Answer: I have used a similar cable for my CenturyLink C1000A and C1900A routers. This cable would also be an upgrade for old internal phone wiring (un-shielded twisted pair).
Question: Would work with and adsl modem router
Answer: This should work for any standard DSL connection, so AT&T should be fine, as long as it's their DSL service. This will not work for any cable or fiber optic services. It goes between your wall jack and WAN port on your modem. It should replace the standard telephone line they usually send you when you get the modem.
Question: Will this work well for AT&T U-verse
Answer: Hello Ning. The c2G cable sold here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002J2ANE?ref_=pe_527950_33920250, stands for "Cables 2 Go." It is a specially shielded cord normally used to connect a standard Land Line telephone to its wall outlet. The cable sold here has extra shielding so that DSL signals do not degrade as much when using the cord. For me it was the difference between my DSL MODEM having a signal by using the cord or NOT having a DSL signal by using a different, non-shielded cord. The c2G cord I bought was 50 feet long and snakes through walls and basement. Excellent cord, I would recommend it if you are having problems maintaining your DSL signal when using such a cord.
Question: what is c2G
Answer: You can google to confirm but I believe it does. It has been some time now that I used this router but I did a quick search myself and found WEP listed under wifi features for this model.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this compatible with windstream dsl
Answer: I asked century link specifically by at least 5 personnel if it would work when I increased the speed. They all said it would. And NOW they say that those people told you wrong. It does work with them, but if your area only supports a vdsl transport type for higher speeds than it will not. I use to by on adsl and when I switched speeds the transport type switched too! ugh. so now I have to buy a different modem after I already purchased this one.
Question: Century Link told us to find a VDSL2 modem to work with a higher speed they offered. Will this one work? No VDSL2 listed, though it came up in search
Answer: If by dual-band you mean 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz spectrums... NO. This is only 2.4 GHz. However, I have 2 computers, 3 iPods, 2 android phones, an iPad, Xbox, and DVD player all connected and all of which work fine. Only one of those devices even has the ability to take advantage of 5 GHz capability anyway... the iPad. Furthermore, 2.4 GHz often has better signal through walls and floors than 5 GHz.
Question: support dual-band
Answer: N is just the next wireless standard (IEEE 802.11). Home WiFi routers have progress from A to B, G, and now N corresponding to speeds of approximately 1.5Mb, 11Mb, 52Mb, and 300Mb. Note that you will only get the 300Mbps speed if your computer (or other wireless device) also has a wireless-N adapter. If it is lower speed, this router will be backwards compatible and run at that speed. Also note that while your WiFi in your house may run at 300Mbps, your DSL connection through your phone line will not. Max speed for this ADSL2 modem are about 10Mbps, so that is about the best you can expect if you are paying for that level of service.
Question: What does the N in "Wireless N-DSL" modem/router mean....I'm clueless
Answer: Yes. It works with a standard phone line and ADSL.

User questions & answers

Question: I have dsl now with this 7550 (5yr old) , if i buy new will i need special set up, or just plug n' play
Answer: Probably easy return, call them and check policy.
Question: What is the return policy in case that it doesn’t work
Answer: I talked to someone at at&t who gave me help with mines after I changed settings on it and he says do not plug the dsl cable into the filter but only phone/fax lines. And mines was always plugged into a filter and it wasn’t working great. Based on the ratings though, not sure if that was the reason, lol. The wires on my cable were exposed near the top which could’ve contributed also.
Question: How does it work? do you plug into phone jack
Answer: Yes it will do, but what is really going to matter is your internet speed for online gaming, not the modem/router. If your using AT&T - the speeds are generally much slower than cable can provide. If speed is an issue, change the provider.
Question: Is this good for gaming
Answer: no it is built in

User questions & answers

Question: Where is the power off button in case of needing to restart the modem
Answer: Don't use the reset button. That will reset all the router's settings to default. There is not power button. Disconnect the power and reconnect.
Question: Are cables included
Answer: Yes. Ready to use.
Question: How many devices can be connected to the device wirelessly? thks
Answer: Currently Have three wireless laptops, one mac wireless, one desktop wired, one xbox 360 wired and wireless depending where in the house I am at, a VoiP phone connected via power brick. That is not including what I bring home from work. So totaled together 7 to 9 and still have plenty of speed to go around.
Question: To prolong the life of the modem, is it better to turn it off at night when not used, or just keep it on continously
Answer: This is a solid state device, but it also contains a microwave ( Wi-Fi) transmitter. It draws about 12 watts, and it gets warm.. most solid state devices are about 50% efficient.. and that is consistant with this thing getting about as hot as a 5 watt night light. It isn't likely that the thing will die of old age before DSL becomes obsolete. However, I keep mine on a high shelf in my bedroom, well away from the living and working area in our house. I unplug it at night, because I don't want to sleep next to a microwave transmitter. I also don't want to have a cellphone pressed against my head very often. So you decide whether you think your personal brain cells and mitochondria are susceptible to microwave radio (rf) energy or not, and act accordingly. I get good Wi-Fi reception 300 feet away from this modem ( using a positionable Wi-Fi adapter ) so the thing has a decent amount of transmit power, you don't want it at head or eye level for sure. I would put it where it gets good air circulation... look at the top... see the vents ?

User questions & answers

Question: Does it work with Verizon Dsl
Answer: Yes, you will have to enter your login information for Verizon in it
Question: Is this compatible with frontier
Answer: would this work for frontier ADSL2 + Bonded ?
Question: Is this superior to the ATT DSL modem/router supplied with UVerse
Answer: UVerse uses VDSL. The modem built into the N600 is an ADSL+ modem and will not work with UVerse. You can use the N600 as a router only by connecting a VDSL modem to the router via the WAN connection.
Question: Before dropping $120.00 on this, how good is the range? Would it be bood for a 2500 sqft area
Answer: Our Netgear router is located on the 2nd floor of our home which is 1140 square feet. It reaches to the main floor (also 1140 square feet) without any problem as well as outside on the front porch and back deck. The home is wood construction with steel siding. I don't have any problems with reception. Some reviews said this router has limited range and I'm not sure what was meant by limited range.
