Answer:	Seller is incorrect and the description is partially misleading. The 10 port is not 60 watts and not 5 amps. It is 48 watts and 4 amps. It works well for most things but doesn't work at all with some of my HDD drives that depend solely on the USB ports for power. When I unplug the drive and plug directly into my laptop USB 3 ports, the drives work fine. All USB flash drives have worked very well. My USB powered external DVD player also won't work. I am thinking about returning the 10 port and trying the 16 port for the additional 42 watts / 3.5 amps. I run two laptops thru a KVM switch and I've had the drives working thru an old USB 2 hub but at a much lower speed. I've switched everything else off and still can't get the DVD to run on the 10 port. I bought this solely based on the 60 watt rating and the seller's comment verifying that it is 5 amps. Answer:	I just bought and tested the 10-port hub. It does NOT work **at all** without the power supply also plugged in. I'm returning it as a result, because I am using it to program super-low-power microcontrollers and don't want the hassle of having to also plug in the power supply for this purpose. Also, the power supply cable is 4 ft long, NOT The advertised 10 ft long. That makes me grumpy. I shall continue my search for a 10-port hub which does NOT require the power supply plugged in to power a single 10mA device.

Answer:	Do the external drives to be connected to the hub have their own power source? If they are intended to run off of the power of the hub, you may have problems. This is my speculation based on the note under the product description stating the product should not be used with WD passport hard drives. I have several of those, each 1TB, and they run off the power of the hub. Currently, they are plugged into USB 2.0 ports, but they are USB 3.0 compatible products used as "backwards compatible," and run very slowly with USB 2.0, but they run. With USB 3.0, there is evidently a reason they are not supposed to be used. So, I would say it depends on whether the external hard drives have their own power source and, specifically, if they are WD passport drives, the product information I saw said they should not be used with this hub.

Answer:	A normal USB hub will not deliver power when the computer is off or disconnected. This specific unit has one port (the "Smart Charging Port") which is designed to deliver power without a computer, but the other ports will not. When attached to a computer, the other 9 ports will deliver power, but only to the limits of the USB spec. This is a maximum of 500mA (2.5W) for USB 2.0 devices or 900mA (4.5W) for USB 3.0 devices. This is enough to charge devices, but it will almost certainly be slower than using the charging port, which can deliver 2.1A (10.5W)
Question:	How many hdds can i plug without them affecting the speed
Answer:	5 amps. But the power supply is 12 volts, so in reality the USB-devices you connect can pull way more than that since the USB ports are only 5 volts.Remember that volts multiplied with amps equals wattage (so 12 volts times 5 amps equals 60 watts). Nine USB ports providing a maximum of 0.9 amps times 5 volts equals 40½ watts, and then you have a charger port of 2.1 amps times 5 volts which equals 11 watt. So in theory, if you fill up the entire device with USB-devices that can draw maximum power from all the ports, the maximal power draw should be around 51½ watt, which is less than the power supply provides. Therefore, this hub should never give you any disconnects because of too huge a power draw, which was a frequent problem with my old USB hub.

Answer:	The way it appears to work is: 1. There is a switch on the side of unit. In one position, the power from the USB port is directed to the 3 devices that would be attached. Like a mouse, thumb drive, etc. 2. In the other position, the power is off to those devices, but a charger can now power the USB port that the device is plugged into. 3. I am guessing that they may have done this to keep the electronic in the device from being at one voltage and the phone at another, thus possibly damaging the device. 4. I don't know if an S2 will work with this device.

Answer:	It is possible, but unlikely. The real issue, as with most OTG adapters, is that even though many USB devices use very little power, it still drops the remaining power too low for your device to charge on most occasions. Using with just a mouse, and a 2.1 mA charger, I was able to get it to charger but the higher 2.1 mA power causes the adapter to get really hot in just a few minutes. You will not likely find any OTG adapter able to handle enough power for both USB devices and charging at the same time, because of this limitation in USB and device charging circuits.
