Alfa R36A supports Alfa AWUS036NH, AWUS036NEH, Tube-U(N) and UBDo-nt8.
This is a 2.4 Ghz-only device. It does not receive 5 GHz signals. This is done to maximize range. The FCC has more stringent power limits for dual band 5 GHz capable devices, therefore they have less max power and shorter range. Any home network or RV park that offers Wi-Fi will have a 2.4 Ghz signal. Most don't even offer a 5 Ghz signal, but those that do will also offer 2.4 GHz. If you've ever used Alfa's AWUS036NH WiFi adapter with your computer, then you know it can pull in signals much further than standard on-board Wi-Fi cards built in to today's laptops. With Alfa R36A you can extend the Wi-Fi range to all of your devices such as smartphones, printers, and tablets.
The R36A router will connect to a Wi-Fi signal you choose via the AWUS036NH/NEH or Tube-N/UBDo-nt8, and then broadcast it as a new local Wi-Fi signal so that all of your devices can use it.
How it works:
To use this device to share a Wi-Fi signal, you will also need an AWUS036NH or other compatible Alfa Wi-Fi adapter listed above which is sold separately (R36A can also be used as a standalone travel router, or with a 3G USB dongle from the supported model list). Then simply connect your computer to the R36A via ethernet cable for a one-time configuration and setup. Connect the AWUS036NH to the R36A, and using Wi-Fi scanning software built-into the R36A, you can scan for and connect to available wireless networks in your area. Once the R36A has connected to a network, you will be prompted to name and password protect your own new local Wi-Fi network, offering any device within a few hundred feet a strong Wi-Fi connection.

| Answer: | It is not compatible with the Alfa AWUS1900 as of this January 2020 reply of mine. Currently it supports Alfa AWUS036NH, and Alfa Tube-U(N) outdoor model, as well as AWUS036NEH. We recommend the AWUS036NH over the AWUS036NEH for indoor use though so you can get the adapter further from the R36A router so less immediate interference. The Tube-U(N) model is recommended for outdoor use. |

| Answer: | According to some websites and videos devoted to identifying a real Alfa vs fake the adapter I received is fake, I have never owned a true Alfa adapter and although the adapter I received uses a different driver which makes things complicated on a Linux system it operates very well, I have not had any problems with the function of the device however that does not mean you will not have any, if you are looking for a good adapter with decent range capabilities and cannot find any other options this device should do just fine. The way I identified the adapter as fake was one: The hologram on the bottom of the device was grey were as it should have had an array of colors. And two: if you shine a flashlight through the led slot on the adapter the color of the circuit board should have been a blue, while the adapter I received was green. My understanding was that fake alfa devices are very common and have the same circuitry and operate almost exactly as the real thing. Would I get this adapter again? Short Anwser yes. |

| Answer: | Yes, standard extention cables and adapter fittings are available and will work with this antenna...but...you should keep in mind that adapter fittings, extra cabling length, etc will have an undesired effect on signal strength, and often, a very significant one. The common rule of thumb is that each added connector yields a loss of 3db...which in layman's terms actually means a 50% reduction in strength! Also, you can google the loss per foot for each cable type, as they do differ. Both can sometimes negate the benefits of a higher gain antenna, and so it's always optimal to have the correct length (not too long) cable, with the required connectors directly fitted onto the cable whenever possible. This doesn't mean fittings can NEVER be used...just that the less fittings, the better! This concludes today's lesson :) |

In this sense it can work with any WiFi enabled cell phone. It cannot boost your Visible 4G reception however. So if you are in an area with no 4G signal it will not help boost the signal to a Visible tower. |

ALFA Tube-UNA is similar to the Alfa Tube-U(N) model that ships inside the Alfa WiFi Camp Pro 2 kit, but it contains the popular Atheros AR9271 chipset instead which contains Atheros Align technology designed to increase packet transfer (in layman's terms increase throughput speed).
Like the Tube-U(N), it is 2.4 Ghz.
This is the retail box package that includes 5m USB cable and driver CD if you wish to use it directly with a Microsoft Windows PC. If you use it directly plugged into a PC, it will boost just the range of that PC.
An antenna is not included. If you are purchasing for direct use with a PC and not an existing Camp Pro 2 v1 system that already has an antenna, we recommend getting the ALFA AOA-2409TF antenna to pair with this adapter. This Tube-UNA has an N-male antenna connector and requires an N-female antenna.

Alfa Camp Pro 2 v1 owners: to upgrade to this Tube-UNA, first upgrade the firmware on your router as outlined above. Then power off your Camp Pro 2, remove the USB cable and antenna from your current Alfa Tube, and use the Alfa Tube-UNA instead. Then power your Camp Pro 2 equipment back on, and go through software setup as normal to pick out the network you want to extend.
This product does not come with an antenna, and does require one to operate. You will need to purchase or already own a compatible antenna to use this.

If you get an error while Installing the Drivers press OK, then Exit. Then do the following:
Right-click on your CD Drive and select Explore
For Windows, double-Click on the application file in this folder (the file name atarts with "IS_AP_STA_RT2870......) then follow the installation instructions.
For Mac and Linux open their folder and then run the application.
Or you can got to the manufactures website, then click on "Support" and on the left side click on "Divers" and download.

Also the NHA does not work with the Alfa R36A Repeater. I point this out because I ordered this part and was shipped the NHA. So look at your part number carefully upon receipt. |
