Answer:	TLDR: Generally, yes - but only if you want internet. However, this depends entirely on your type of internet service. Let's start by discussing the difference between a modem and a router... Answer:	Update: I hooked the PA278QV to another computer and it went into standby mode and stayed there until woken by me. I then attached a 6 year old Viewsonic monitor that I have on hand and have never had issue with, to the NUC. Suddenly, the Viewsonic refused to stay in standby mode after the computer went idle. So the problem appears to be with my Intel NUC waking up whatever monitor is attached to it. I recently updated the BIOS and that may be responsible for the video issues, who knows. So for me, my issue is my Intel NUC PC.

Answer:	To expand on the other answers: Yes the monitor supports VESA mounting (100x100) and yes the recessed mounting points make it a pain if your mounting plate is slightly too big. The depth of the recessed cavity is ~7mm (which is just a hair over 1/4th inch) so plan on ordering spacers that are, at minimum, that wide. The monitor's mounting holes require M4 bolts/screws, so make sure to order a kit with M4 screws and with enough length to compensate for the addition of the spacer.
