I have to use a separate power adapter to power my Lenovo. It works perfectly on my HP laptop - power, video and USB ports.

Type-C Port's function

1. Data Transfer: This is the basic function, it is like a USB Type-A port which can transfer the file, images, videos to your portable Hard drive or USB flash drive

2. Power Delivery: It's a new protocol specification that allows for faster and more flexible charging. It was developed concurrently with USB Type-C (USB-C) which is the physical connection.
